What an amazing book! Are you missing special life moments because of distractions? It is very hard not to be distracted because of all the things in the world we live in today. If I would have had this book when my kids were younger my life would have definitely looked different. I was always trying to do ALL the things when I should have been living in the moment. I’m sure I missed many special moments, moments that I will never get back. I encourage you all to sit back and reflect on how you are being distracted. Julie shows us through her real life experiences and Biblical verses that God does not want us to live distracted. His wants us to be present NOW! Right Now Matters!!
There is so much that vies for our attention as moms and women in general. It seems like it’s so hard to be in the moment and focus on what’s happening in front of us instead of trying to do 10 things at once. The author does a great job of highlighting the overall issue of being distracted and really empowers and encourages the reader on ways to be a “Right Now Woman.”
She uses Biblical truths to walk us through transforming our perspective and uses a great system of “Pause, Ponder, Pray & Praise” after every chapter to help the message to sink in. I love it when authors use examples in their own lives to help you understand the point they’re trying to illuminate – Julie Lefebure does this and it not only helps with the message, but it really makes you feel like she’s the friend next door. Very relatable.
The appendix says there’s a Bible Study too. It would be great to do the book and accompanying Bible Study with a women’s group. And I just found free printables that accompany the book on her website. Great find!! Highly recommend.
We live in a busy world that is more chaotic than peaceful. Our focus is pulled in so many directions we may think we are multitasking but in reality, we are just holding on.
In her new book, Right Now Matters, Julie Lefebure, shares her story of living a distracted life to the point that she missed out on key moments in her family's life. But Julie doesn't leave us there.
Instead, Ms. Lefebure guides the reader through the causes of distractions, four main tools to help us refocus, what God teaches us about living distracted, and what it looks like to live as a Right-Now woman.
Each chapter ends with a section called "Pause, Ponder, Pray, and Praise" which soon became my favorite. The book is practical, well-written, and worth the time to dive deeper into managing a distracted life.
The title grabbed my attention and the contents spoke to my heart. This book helped me realize that I have lived most of my life distracted, and therefore, not fully present in the moments that matter most. I just wish the book had been written years ago, when my children were small. I am afraid though I knew the moments mattered, I let distractions steal the golden ones from me. The good news is, because of this book, I will live the rest of my life with a different, better perspective, and I am grateful. As the author says, “Distractions aren’t just something to avoid to make our lives more enjoyable; they are something to avoid to make our lives more impactful.” Highly recommend this important book!

I have repeatedly looked back and thought, "I wish I were more present." The how-to was the hard part. Julie Lefebure has written a book from a heart who's been there with tools to help us all. This is what I loved; the message was not from "on high" but from a mom a lot like me. Each chapter ended with that time to pause, digest what I read, and lead into some great prayer points. I've walked away with a polished lens, looking at life, my family, and my time in a new way.

With scriptural wisdom Julie Lefebure shares from her life and encourages practices to help focus on the moment at hand and be fully present. This book's timely message can help anyone recenter using the 4-P's, Pause, Ponder, Pray and Praise.
Julie's book is such an encouragement if you feel like there are too many things to do and too many distractions filling your life to focus on what God has right in front of you. With gentle wisdom, she helps us realign our priorities and make God's plans and purpose for our days #1. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels overwhelmed with life. So good!
I appreciate the honesty Julie describes in her own distractions. Even in the introduction, I felt like she had me pegged! I learned that my indulgences were not doing my faith/health/life a bit of good. Practical ways of avoiding a distracted life are given. Such good advice!! Sent my copy to my sister!!
Julie does a great job framing the issues of modern-day women. Her discussion on diversions vs. distractions was great and very convicting. Great job, Julie!
Read a chapter each morning with my coffee. Useful to reflect on how we are impacted by distractions and how our lives can be so much richer if we learn to push them aside and be Right-Now women. Julie's book is hopeful, helpful and empowering.
If you struggle with distraction, this book is for you. Thoughtfully written and engaging! Julie shares her own personal struggles and offers practical suggestions to help you thrive in the now.
My sister-in-law has written a book!! I’m coming clean right up front and I am super excited to share this book with you. I have watched Julie dream of writing a book for years. She has worked very hard to bring women inspiration and to live life less distracted. I was lucky to be able to be part of Julie’s writing journey and I can honestly say this book will bless you.
If I kept track of all the ways I was distracted during my day, I think it would number in the hundreds. From a phone notification to a pet needing to go outside to a child needing a snack to a co-worker stopping by for a chat, our days are filled with distraction no matter if you work from home, stay at home with your kids, work outside the home, or are retired. But, our lives are not made for living distracted. We can miss the joy of a sunset, a butterfly stopping by for a bit of nectar, or a smile on a baby’s face just by being distracted. Julie strives to teach all of us how to live in the moment because this moment, right now, is fleeting. This hour, this day, this year, and this life is the only one we have and we need to live it abundantly.
Julie shares personal stories of times she regrets being distracted and as moms and wives, we can all relate. Have you ever missed a special moment in your child’s life? Julie starts her book with a pivotal moment at her son’s soccer game that I think all sports moms will identify with. This moment propelled her to think about how distractions force us to miss out on the big and small moments of life and what we can do to both recognize and prevent distractions from taking over our lives.
With a Biblical approach, Julie shares verses to prove that God wants us to live distraction-free. He wants us to be present in this moment that He gave us. Are you rushing through your days? Do you struggle to stay focused on your current task? Is multi-taking the only way to get something done? If these sound like you, then Julie’s approach to managing tasks and handling distractions will be something you can apply to your daily routine. Every chapter ends with Julie’s 4 P’s approach that can be applied to what you have learned. Julie also offers tools to help you live undistracted. One of my favorites is the Brain Dump. At the beginning of every week and then every day, I write out all the tasks in my mind, the people I want to remember and pray for, and the things that are taking up space in my brain like a worry or a dream. I just write them all out. Then I can relax and focus on breaking down my to-do lists for the week. Everything filling my brain is now on paper and I don’t have to try to remember them all which frees up space for other things.
Another tool Julie mentions is writing down the things we are grateful for and praising God for the gift of each day. By doing this, we will naturally be more inclined to live in the moment. Julie shares the following verse in her book, and it’s one I have on my bathroom mirror to remind me that right now matters.
“Where you are right now is God’s place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. “ 1 Corinthians 7:17, The Message
As someone who has juggled numerous responsibilities, it has been hard to live in the moment and not think about the next thing on my list. But, in RIGHT NOW MATTERS, Julie has shown me how God doesn’t want that kind of life for me. Julie’s tips taught me how to shut off the distractions and live in the moment because right now truly does matter.
In this book, Julie Lefebure writes, "I was living my life and going through the motions on autopilot. I guess you could say I was sleepwalking through life, living for the weekends and numbing out with busyness the rest of the week." OH how that applies to so many of us. Yet, today we need to be reminded of why we are in this moment, where God has called us to be, for His purpose. I highly recommend this book for anyone that feels stuck in life, dreaming of tomorrow, and forging ahead.
