What happens when the patient becomes the therapist, and the therapist becomes the patient?
Psychologist Ember Hueth has it all she is going to leave her abusive husband and affair behind. But when she finds herself in the center of a murder investigation after her eighteen-year-old patient Sandra Parsson is found dead, Ember scrambles to cover up her own illicit secrets.
But Sandra is not so innocent. At least she, herself, doesn’t think so, as her premeditated reason for choosing Ember as her therapist begins to uncoil.
The closer Ember gets to unraveling Sandra’s secrets, the greater the connection between the two becomes. In Allison Relyea's debut novel, A Cure Through Love , answers unravel as volcanically as Ember’s subconscious, proving that the past provides only what the past can answers, details, and clarity.
I absolutely loved the premise of this book. The story flowed well, and it kept my attention. A few twists in between, which made my jaw drop!😳 This is a well written book, easy to read, and a great storyline.
The only reason I didn't give this one the 5th star was literally down to the last few pages. Although the ending surprised me, I also felt a little bit disappointed in the outcome.
Overall though, I'd recommend this! It's still definitely worth a read.

I was surprised to see that not many people have read this book as only 1700 have shelved it on Goodreads. I finished it in 5 days which is fast for me. When reading I always just had this sense that I didn’t really know the full story, and eventually I thought I did and then the last couple pages completely threw me. Also this is one of those books where the ending has very little hope which I actually like. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think this book really stands out compared to others but it is still a good read regardless.
Also, the formatting was really weird (I read this on my Kindle) and random words were hyphenated, whole words were missing, chapters and beginning of new parts were all on the same page. It was easy to figure out how it was supposed to be read but yeah weird…
Absolutely loved this book & loved it even more because I know the author!! I thought I knew how it was going to end the entire time and was wrong. Kept me so, so captivated the entire time. Such a great story. I’m officially an Allison Relyea stan
I really enjoyed this book! There were many twists, some of which I did see coming, and the last 3 in the book that I did NOT expect. I figured Peter was Sandra’s father from the beginning, so the entire time I was just reading along for the plot. Then we see WILL was her father!! That shocked me! And then finding out his son was Joe!
I do desperately wish Joe and Peter would have gotten convicted. I believe Ember got what was coming to her, because she was having an affair with 1. A client, and 2. A TEENAGER!!!! And should have been arrested, but I also wish I would’ve seen some justice for the men.
All in all I did enjoy reading this book, and I am kind of shocked that it doesn’t have more reviews.

Loved the concept of this book. I enjoyed each character. I love stories where no one is "good." I enjoyed the majority of this story.
However. The ending was iffy for me. I know fiction is fiction, but there's a glaring plot hole that ruined an overall pretty decent read.
A lot of the writing seemed strange to me, as well. For example, "lowering" was spelled lower-ing. I couldn't understand the purpose or meaning behind that. If someone could enlighten me, that would be great because that bothered me all throughout the story.
Also, there were a lot of blatant misspellings. I know no one is perfect, and things are missed, but they seemed almost excessive here.
This book was easy reading and kept your interest through moving plot twists. As a medical person, I found the medical ethical issues being ignored uncomfortable but as written sadly believable considering the family history. Definitely worth reading.
Loved this book. Preferred if it was known that there would ne smut because those kinds of books arent my cup of tea but once Sandra died it got good cause there wasnt very many sex scenes. I didnt really like the end though, because you find out the plot twist and her classmate killed her but why did Ember get arrested at the end then nothing happened, no explanation? Kind of felt like a lazy ending.
