Book after book the “Between Dawn and Dusk” series by Jamie Schlosser is getting better and better and “The Fae Warrior’s Queen” is the fifth installment.
This world of the Fae is an addicting reality, there’s darkness, cruelty and betrayals from your own kin, you need to be ruthless and cunning to survive and you must find people you can trust with your life, friends and fated mates to balance everything, because it’s worth it. Beyond the darkness there is so much magic and beauty in the realms, and bonds and feelings are intense.
This book is about Kai, the scarred healer and warrior we saw in the previous books, and Ro, the queen and Zander’s mom. I was intrigued from the start with Kai, because of his secrets about his past, his scars, but also because he’s a real warrior and a healer, to things that are opposite.
Reading the series I didn’t see in my mind a story with Ro as heroine, but I was so wrong… There is no Kai without her. Ro’s soul is so full of sweetness, humanity and she’s the perfect match for him. She survived the worst in the past, she has scars inside her but she didn’t lost her ability to love and her unselfishness. She’s resilient and strong.
And Kai is just amazing. He was sent to rescue her in the Lost Land from a kidnapping, and together with Ro must face three dangerous and deadly tests, but he can’t help himself to fall in love with Ro, showing her his vulnerability and giving her everything she needs. Being a healer is his inner essence, his soul, not only his power as Fae.
I loved this book for the beauty of the characters, their emotions are so real: love, lust, friendship, trust… and the plot is engaging, lead directly to a new challenge for the future of the Realms, where everything changed so fast from the beginning of the series.
Can’t wait for the next story, it can’t be soon enough.
