Tell it to the Chaplain: Spelling Counts

Rate this book
To be clear, this book is NOT about Charlie Chaplin, the silent screen actor. This book is about the other kind of chaplain, spelled with an extra “a” – C-H-A-P-L-A-I-N.

In his fourth book, Chaplain Norris Burkes shares stories from his work from three chaplain fields – Military, Hospital and Hospice Care. As you will discover, “Chaplain Norris” is rarely silent a silent actor in these stories. His stories will introduce you to military life, hospital work and finally to his own family. Each story begins in bold print making the stories readable in any order.

The book is a compilation of his award-winning spirituality column that he’s written for 22 years and syndicated in 35 weekly papers. The National Society of Newspaper Columnists recognizes Burkes column as one offering a humorous and hope-filled approach to everyday spirituality.

I've known the author for many years and can attest to the fact that the stories are true and that the voice is truly his.

Chaplain Burkes has a plethora of experience as a military chaplain, hospital chaplain, and hospice chaplain. As with his previous books, I found myself alternately scratching my head, smiling, and tearing up.

You won't find great theological truths here, but if you read with an open mind, some of them might find you.

Heart-warming, thoughtful, sometimes slightly irreverent, and always a little scattered, but it's a fun and easy journey through a variety of life experiences.
