I’ve been looking forward to Victoria’s story. Book 7 of the Pinkerton Matchmakers series did not disappoint.
Victoria has felt a little lost since coming to live with her brother in Denver after receiving a prestigious education. When she discovers her brother Archie, head of the Denver Pinkerton agency, is pairing his agents with wives to help train and protect the women into the field, she sees her chance and takes it. It doesn’t hurt that she’s long admired one particular agent: Maverick “Mav”. With a little clever maneuvering (and help from her brother’s secretary), Victoria manages to secure exactly the opportunity she’s been dreaming of. Mav, however, is far from thrilled. Jaded by his past experiences, he has little respect for the idea of female agents and agrees to the marriage strictly as a business arrangement and only under his own terms. He expects a convenient, compliant partner, not the capable and captivating woman he ends up with. Victoria quickly proves she’s anything but a quiet simpering miss, continually surprising Mav as they work together to unravel a smuggling case. What I loved most about this book was watching Victoria come into her own. She’s determined, resourceful, and refuses to be underestimated, and her dynamic with Mav is full of tension, growth, and undeniable chemistry. Mav’s gradual shift in perspective felt natural and sweet to read.

An Agent for Victoria

This is a short but sweet historical romance featuring women joining the Pinkerton Agency. Victoria is the sister of the man in charge of the Pinkerton Agency in their area. Learning the agency is hiring women, she ask to join. Her brother is adamant that she is not qualified. But when learning the women would be marrying an agent, Victoria enlists the help of Marianne, her brother’s assistant. She is matched up with Maverick Jones, the man that closes all of his cases. I recommend you read the book to find out if they survive their first case.

Great book

I liked this book. The agents pairing with the woman is comical. Most of them hate it. This book was no different. But in the end Mav and Victoria make a great couple and solve the case they were assigned. I recommend this book.

Clever tale

I enjoyed Mav and Victoria's story. Perhaps, due to the shauvenism of the age, I found her constantly surprising him very funny and cute.
