A phenomenal Christian novel not only full of eye-opening divine wisdom but also brilliant literary artistry! Martha Fuller has written O, Sweet Master with an impressive array of literary techniques from character and world-building to symbolisms and even poetry. One thing I really liked about her style was how she made her characters more three-dimensional with the use of slang and heavy accents in their dialogue. Although I do feel that there could be some work to do in making these types of accented dialogues somewhat easier to understand, it did help with picturing out the scenes and hearing the dialogue in the imagination. Fuller did not spare any details in her narration, making it a whole lot easier to play out the scenes like a motion picture in the mind’s eye. Highly recommended!

O, Sweet Master is an amazingly insightful book that made me connect to it on a spiritual level with its take on the imperfections of life and the mercy of God. Martha Fuller, the author, knew the message she wanted to spread and used all her literary prowess into achieving her goal.
Reading O, Sweet Master was a completely new experience for me as it felt like I was being shown multiple interconnected testimonies of salvation and deliverance that were so true-to-life that I shed a couple of tears throughout some of the more emotional confrontations and encounters. The McVoys are not really what I could call a perfect family, but I loved how Martha Fuller used the imperfection of this loving family to make God’s love shine brighter and have His grace more evident. I am positive that this book, by the power of the Holy Spirit, can change lives and draw people close to God.

I am going to be very honest in this review and admit that I had to pull up my search engine to look up how the Scottish accent to listen to what it actually sounds like. It helped me imagine what Rohan was saying a whole lot easier, but I still have to read once or twice more to really absorb what he’s saying. The same is true with the Himmels and their German (I think) accent.
So much for the quirky accents, what really got me hooked to this book was the vividness of the story itself. I was very impressed by how author Martha Fuller composed the plot in a way that interlaced the lives of all the characters very smoothly and, one way or another, introduced them to the Christian faith. There were no plot holes, and the changing of perspectives gave the readers a crystal clear view of all the important events. I highly recommend this!

My favorite elements of Martha Fuller’s writing are the subtle symbolisms that she incorporates into her narrative. One that I found most sublime was when Miryam contemplated burning many of the things that were so close to her heart in order to forget. The innate message of that passage resonated deep within my heart, and I was really moved by the wisdom underlying it. It was a message to not discard my entire being because of something that happened or something about myself that I dislike.
This, and many other inspiring pearls of wisdom, struck me throughout the duration of the whole story. I would write a whole essay on it, if I could. Martha Fuller has been gifted with wisdom from above, and I pray she continues to use it to bring more people closer to the Almighty. Your labor shall not be in vain.

The plot of O, Sweet Master, in a nutshell, is a straight, chronological line from beginning to end after the introduction. It sounds simple and straightforward enough, but Martha Fuller was able to weave her words into an emotionally impactful narrative that grasped tight onto the hearts of the readers.
I really appreciate that she kept the interactions and personalities of her characters natural and relatable. These factors always make for an enjoyable read that makes the story close to the heart. What makes it so special to me, however, is the author’s hard work at incorporating the Gospel into the plot, making even casual readers know more about God and the salvation He offers. It would be a great book to introduce to non-Christian friends to ease them into a conversation about the topic.

O, Sweet Master is what I like to call an evangelical novel. It’s the type of book whose story brings about a sense of curiosity and interest to the identity of God and His Word. This book fulfills that criteria really well, and it even gives insight into some of the Jewish traditions and how Christianity is closely linked with Judaism.
I find it very cleverly put together because of how, despite having an innumerable amount of wisdom and insight to offer, the story carries on in a smooth, unhindered manner. The learnings don’t seem like lectures and are perfectly integrated into the story. I also appreciate that the author adds plenty of details about the scenery and setting, but there are times I found them a little too much and unnecessary. Aside from that, though, I really liked this book and all the things it has to teach. Kudos!

I know it’s just a novel, a fictional one, even. But I cannot help but be in awe of the magnitude of realizations and learnings I got from Martha Fuller’s O, Sweet Master. It was such a bittersweet story of family, love, life, and, above all, getting to know God.
I probably shed more tears than I’m willing to admit from reading all the bitterness and despair that was so well portrayed by the author’s writing. I had a bit of a problem understanding some of the dialogues, given that the characters’ accents are quite heavy. But I get that it does add some life into their character designs. I just wish there were some sort of translations to some of the dialects. Overall, it was an incredible experience reading this book. Kudos to the author!

Martha Fuller recounts the story of how life was brought into the world through sufferings and ordeals, but all according to God’s perfect will and endless love. In her book O, Sweet Master, Fuller touches on multiple subjects, both relatable and controversial, in a way that perfectly imparts God’s word in the form of a beautiful tale. A part of me felt a bit unsatisfied and still unforgiving of some characters, but this just revealed to me how I still have some parts in me that I need to surrender to the Lord.
Reading the journey of the McVoys was heart-wrenching and devastating, yet also inspiring and heartwarming. I believe that many lives will be touched by this story. A great must-read!

I personally had a whole new encounter with God upon reading Martha Fuller’s O, Sweet Master. She was able to bring her characters to life with all their imperfections that made God’s mercy and goodness shine in their lives. I was brought to tears every time the characters had an encounter with God and sought to learn more about him. It just gave me such an amazing sense of nostalgia about the first time I surrendered my life to Him.
To me, O, Sweet Master is evangelism in the form of a beautiful story woven perfectly with all the right elements of despair, trauma, conflict, love, family, forgiveness, and faith, among many others. It is an amazing book to ease your friends into learning more about God and salvation without forcing them to read the Bible yet.

O, Sweet Master is a Christian novel that presents real situations that the readers could vividly picture happening in real life. The diversity of all the characters and the different ways in which they learned about God and acknowledged Jesus as Lord and Savior made the whole story more vibrant, sophisticated, and easily relatable.
Martha Fuller takes into account many different topics that are relevant to today’s society. For example, the acceptance of a life that most people would want to abandon and the forgiveness of a sin deemed unforgivable by society. Everything in the novel showed the neverending mercy and grace of God without taking anything away from His justice and Holiness. Definitely a worthwhile read for people seeking to know God deeper. Great read!

Reading the characters’ questions about who God really was, what God wants from them, and where God is, reminded me very well of my own doubts and questions about God back when I was just a young kid following her parents to church. Martha is actually putting into perspective how many people so heavily rooted in their religious traditions are not actually aware of the reason they are doing it. And I think this is a very important thing to note because if we don’t know why we’re doing it, then there’s no possible way to know Who we’re doing it for.
O, Sweet Master makes its readers think really deeply and ponder about who God really is in their lives. I believe it serves its purpose very well, and I applaud the author for her service to God through writing this book.

A painful yet heartwarming story about despair and healing that brings about a myriad of spiritually enriching messages. Martha Fuller’s O, Sweet Master is a thought-provoking story about a couple with different religious backgrounds and their journey towards learning the truth behind religion, God, and a relationship with Him.
It was a really great experience to be presented with the realness and omnipotence of Adonai in different people’s lives. Martha Fuller was able to showcase God’s glory and love in the lives of her characters without making them into perfectly holy, unattainable perfect beings. I think that’s what makes this novel so close to my heart. The realness and flaws of the characters reminded me of my own imperfections and how God showed me His love, nonetheless.

As a Christian, books such as Martha Fuller’s O, Sweet Master always bring great joy to my heart, knowing that God’s Word is being spread in so many different ways far and wide. I absolutely adore the casual incorporation of Scripture into the narratives and dialogues like wee little pieces of advice or poignant snippets of wisdom. I feel like, if it were this book, even nonbelievers would be compelled to learn more about the God that it speaks of and how true the encounters of the characters could be.
It all starts with a bit of curiosity and an awareness of that empty part of us that needs to be filled. The rest is to plant the seed and allow God to water it. Recommend this to your friends!

What I liked most about O, Sweet Master were the parts where Martha Fuller waxed poetic at certain times when her characters were deep in their musings or when there was a scene with a heightened emotional state. The poetic artistry really just drew me into the now of the scene and got me helplessly invested in it. Many times, I ended up tearing up a little because the narrative was written in such detail that it almost felt like I was living the scene out through the words.
Martha Fuller is evidently an author with an amazing command of her literary skills, and she is able to use her wide array of talents to bring out the most intense reactions from her audience at will. Highly recommended!

I read this book awhile ago, but I forgot the exact dates. I actually read a manuscript. I couldn't put it down. I know the author and she would ask me if I had trouble reading it. I don't think I told Marti that I spent some time in Scotland so not only did I understand the way he spoke, but could feel his emotions and the book was full of emotion!

Fantastic story of a family and their life in a previous century on the prairie. Inside of this is a strong message of a love as God would have us love others. This was captivating and not easy to put down once I began.
