When Seattle witch Quinn Callahan is sent to Ballydehag, Ireland to run a book shop, little does she know that this sleepy, postcard pretty Irish village harbors plenty of secrets. There’s a creepy looking castle called Devil’s Keep where high-tech billionaire Lochlan Balfour is known to make his home. Turns out, Lochlan has had years to hone his business instincts. Centuries, in fact as he’s a vampire, as are his colorful assortment of friends and employees who come and go from the forbidding castle. Some of them gather at The Blarney Tome, which Quinn now manages, for a late-night book club. There’s even a famous undead writer or two.
Between managing a book store, discovering she’s got roots in the area she never knew about, and solving murders, Quinn and her book club are kept busy.
If you enjoy a little magic and mayhem with your mystery, these books are for you. There’s no blood, gore, or swearing, just good, clean murderous fun. The Vampire Book Club overlaps a little with the Vampire Knitting Club but the series can be read separately.

The Vampire Knitting Club series by Nancy Warren is another series that has been collecting dust on my TBR for a while now- but I have finally got my act together (well, somewhat lol) and gotten around to reading it. And I am soooo glad I did, as it turned out to be such an unexpectedly fun read. One of the reasons I love being on Goodreads is seeing all the book reviews and recommendations that everyone does, and then hunting down the ones that catch my eye. This series would probably never have come to my attention if it hadn’t been for my Goodreads friend, Eliza- so thank you Eliza for your recommendation (in the form of your glowing reviews) which gave me the urge to dive in, even though I didn’t get to them right away- it was such a great series to binge. But one book has now turned into a bit of an addiction lol. This is quite a long series, so I am going to save myself some time by doing one review for the entire series. So here we go….. The Vampire Knitting Club is a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery series, with vampires, witches, adventure, action, crime & investigation, witty humour, family, friendship, a small-town setting, dramatic developments, magic, suspense, intrigue, fun, a dash of romance, knitting/knitting group, murder/murder mysteries, whodunnit vibes, danger, secrets, a cat familiar, tangled webs, the supernatural, and a slew of wonderfully quirky characters. To condense things for the sake of this review, Lucy Swift ‘inherits’ her grandmother’s knitting shop when her grandmother dies…. only grandma is not dead, but is definitely undead. That’s not all she discovers…. so let the adventures begin… “ …. I run a knitting shop and I can’t knit. I’m a beginning witch who can’t always control her cat, never mind her magic….. Oh, and for some reason, I keep getting involved in murder investigations. Good thing I have my vampire knitters to help sniff out clues. I really recommend this book/series – especially for those who love a great paranormal cozy mystery.
The series contains… -Tangles and Treason (Prequel) -The Vampire Knitting Club (Book #1) -Stitches and Witches (Book #2) -Crotchet and Cauldrons (Book #3) -Stockings and Spells (Book #4) -Purls and Potions (Book #5) -Fair Isle and Fortunes (Book #6) -Lace and Lies (Book #7) -Bobbles and Broomsticks (Book #8) -Cats Paws and Curses (Book #8.5) -Popcorn and Poltergeists (Book #9) -Garters and Gargoyles (Book #10) -Diamonds and Daggers (Book #11) -Herringbones and Hexes (Book #12) -Ribbing and Runes (Book #13) -Mosaics and Magic (Book #14)
Can’t wait to explore some of Ms. Warren’s other series now. Happy Reading…
A fabulous way to immerse yourself in a new series! This box set has the first 3 books of a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery series! Vampires, witches and knitting! What could be more perfect? Maybe not finding dead bodies all the time, but a girl can't control fate...can she!?! It's hard to know when you are basically a baby witch! An excellent introduction to the series that will draw you in and have you hooked on the fantastic characters, humor and mystery!
Lucy inherits a knitting shop when she turns up to visit her Gran and finds out she has passed away. She knows nothing about knitting - or the surprising vampire knitting club that meet every Wednesday night in her shop, and who live under the shop. More surprised to find out her Gran is now a vampire and she is a witch. She's also inherited a fabulous car who seems to turn up when she needs her and finds herself attracted to strange vampire Rafe who is handsome and polite, and detective Hottie who turns up when the first dead body.does. I'm addicted to this series, it's fun, cute, heart warming, with great mystery and two sexy guys for Lucy to swoon over, as well as magic she needs to learn. I love this series
These books are super cute and I’m enjoying them while I wait for the next in the Vampire Bookclub to come in at the library. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants something easy and fluffy. Occasionally, the MC is a little dense, but never strays in to TSTL territory.
Love the premise but the writing style of "fifteen year old American girl who has watched one too many BBC period dramas and is going through her witchy phase" is just too hard to get past. I persevered to read the first book to see if it got better but sadly the first page of book two was just as bad.
Thrown into a new life as the new owner of her recently deceased grandmother Lucy has the shock of her life when her grandmother wanders into the flat above her shop. There's more news to follow as Lucy discovers that not only is her grandmother now a vampire, when one of her friends desperately tried to save her, but that she's inherited Gram's witchy powers.
Gram might have a death certificate that says she died of heart failure but she was actually stabbed by an unknown assailant. Lucy, Gram and the members of the Vampire Knitting Club, who live beneath her shop, decide to seek out her killer.. could it be the property developer who is desperate to convince Lucy to sell him the business? Or is it her assistant, Rosemary or her ex-convict son who was stealing from the shop to fund his drug addiction? Or maybe it's one of the other shop owners trying to force Lucy to sign the contract because he wants all four buildings or none and Lucy is holding their fate in her hands.. before they can establish the truth death will come close again..
As Lucy settles into her new life, she visits the Misses Watt's teashop next door with Rafe only things are not running smoothly as Florence's first beau, Gerald, has returned to woo her again and she's decided to abandon the kitchen she's run for so long. With a new chef changing the menus and the world's most inefficient waitress, Katya, Mary is struggling to hold down the fort when Florence decides to bring Gerald for high tea. When the irascible Colonel Montague drops dead at his table Lucy has a new case for the amateur detective vampires but when multiple customers seem to be connected with the Colonel it's proving hard to see the wood for the trees. With Mary worried that Gerald is only after Florence's share of the business and Florence is so wrapped up in her blossoming romance she's falling out with her sister Lucy is also trying to discover the truth about his past.. which of the sisters is telling the truth? Was Gerald really a member of the secret service who was called back to serve Queen and country or was he really a lying philanderer who Mary paid off?
Family trouble for Lucy and her vampire knitting club when her parents turn up out of the blue. Susan and Jack are not usually given to leaving their work as archeologists in Egypt and Susan is acting so strangely Lucy is feeling alarm bells ringing. Why did her mother steal an artifact and bring it to her? Who is Meritamun and how did she become trapped in the mirror? Lucy's life is at risk from an Egyptian demon who can shape shift but was the price demanded by Margaret Twig for a potion and spell to capture him too high? Lucy would never have taken the offer if she'd known that she'd have to hand over her familiar. But which one of these new people who her parents have drawn into her life is out to steal her power? At least the shop is running smoothly now she has a new assistant.. but how long will it last with the vampire's popping in constantly trying to protect Lucy from harm?
Entertaining reading, set in the beautiful, historic city of Oxford around Cardinal Woolsey's; a knitting shop with more than a handful of secrets to hide.
So The Vampire Knitting Club... When I first came across with the series title I was a bit reluctant because I didn’t know what to expect of vampires in a knitting club. An other author who’s work I love, recommended me the work of Nancy Warren and said this series was a great start! So I started reading it. And boy was I glad for this recommendation!!! I love Nancy Warren’s writing style, it’s full of color and very much written in a way an image thinker like me can perfectly envision the story written. Everything is beautifully laid out in smal and fine details that brings the story to life and easy to envision!
I am a fan of cosy mysteries where paranormal aspects are present but are set in a way that it seems very realistic, and these are the elements you can find in The Vampire Book Club series!
Set in a small knitting shop in Oxford, Lucy is about to see her life being transformed drastically. Not only will Lucy’s perception of the world change tremendously but also how she will see her self in the next part of her life! In the event of her grandmother’s suspicious death she will find herself in the midst of a mystery where her closest allies will be those who no longer live, and with whom she will find a new group of friends... Friends who will also be depending on her to protect their secrets and also their way of living.
The Vampire Knitting Club is a fabulous cosy and magical series about unusual friendships, resolving mysteries and finding your place in life and in the world.
I totally recommend this set and series to anyone who loves a magical cosy mystery that will leave you with a smile and a well deserved break!
In the Introductory book,” The Vampire Knitting Club”, Lucy has gone to London to see her grandmother Agnes Bartlett, only to find out she had died in her shop, Cardinal Woolsey’s, a staple in the neighborhood borhood for a very long time. Stunned, Lucy runs into a rather motley crew of people that were Agnes’ friends.... and enemies.
In the second book,”Stitches and Witches”, Lucy ends up in the middle of yet another mystery. In the second of the Vampire Knitting Club series, we get to learn the backgrounds of a number of the ongoing characters like Rafe, and Sylvia, and the Watts sisters who run the Elderflower Tea Shoppe next door. As Lucy studies how to expand her innate wiccan skills(while trying not to blow up her kitchen). And when someone from Miss Florence’s past dies in the tea shoppe next door with the body, in the refrigerator, his backstory is revealed to be as knotted up as Lucy’s knitting.!
In the third book in this set, we get some more of Lucy’s past as her parents have unexpectedly returned from the dig they are working at with an artifact her mother insists she should have. Between trying to keep her parents and her grandmother apart. The Knitting Club takes Grandmother Agatha on a trip to help with that. The new assistant is almost too good! Something needs to to be unraveled before the whole thing falls apart. These three stories are a great introduction to a fantastic series! Nancy Warren’s gifted writing has developed characters you begin to care about. I wait excited to see just what will happen next. Highly Recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book set from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
The Vampire Knitting Club Lucy arrives in England to spend time with her grandma at her knitting shop, Cardinal Woolsey. The only problem is the shop is closed and there’s a number to call. It turns out her grandma is dead and has left Lucy the shop. Too bad Lucy is incapable of knitting. The next surprise is her grandma isn’t really dead, she’s undead. Twice a week a group of vampires meet in Cardinal Woolsey to knit. The third surprise is Lucy is a witch.
This is the start to an interesting series. I love the characters. Solving the murder of Lucy’s grandma was a great introduction to the area.
Stitches and Witches
Misses Florence and Mary Watt own the Elderflower Tea Shop which is next to Cardinal Woolsey’s Knitting Shop. Lucy has stopped in for lunch and sees an older gentleman die during his tea. Unfortunately, he’s been poisoned. Lucy feels the need to investigate the murder as Mary Watt is the chief suspect.
This is the second book in the series. I enjoy the character development and the mystery. I look forward to Book 3. Crochet and Cauldrons
Lucy’s parents have finally come to visit and her mother has brought trouble with her. It’s an enchanted Egyptian mirror with a trapped witch. When one of her parents’ guests dies after dinner at her home, all are under suspicion. Can Lucy solve the mystery, free the witch from the mirror, and kill the demon controlling the witch.
This book gives Lucy the chance to use her witch skills while we get the chance to meet her parents. I really enjoyed this.
If you like cozy mysteries with a bit of paranormal, a touch of romance, engaging characters, humor, and minimal gore then buy this box set and start reading!
This set includes the first three books in the Vampire Knitting Club series and it is an economical way to get started. Each book could be read as a standalone, but why not start at the beginning and and enjoy them all? Characters continue to evolve and develop throughout the series and pretty soon I expect you will be just like me, circling the release date of the next book in the series on your calendar.
Each book is well-written and contains no sex or swearing; the kindle edition is well put together and was easy to read on my iPhone. Other reviewers have written about the specifics of each book so I won’t repeat what they have already said.
Author Nancy Warren is currently writing several series and the Vampire Knitting Club is my favorite. The characters are fun and engaging, and after reading all 10 books published to date they feel like old friends. I have also bought and listened to all of the audio books in the series several times each and highly recommend them; narrator Sarah Zimmerman is easy to listen to and does a wonderful job. Also, if you are enjoying the Vampire Knitting Club series check out Nancy’s other series; the Great Witches Baking Show is another favorite of mine.
I absolutely love this series! Once I started reading the first book I was hooked and I was dying for more. I am so glad the author has released this as a boxed set!
If you are a fan of paranormal cozy mysteries, this series is for you. If you love vampires, or witches, or knitting, or solving murders, this series is for you. Each of these books can be read as a stand-alone, but they fit together so perfectly within the series. These books are quick, light reads that are so much fun!
Nancy Warren has created the most likable, interesting characters and I feel like I know them and want to be part of the knitting circle.
Each book in this boxed set will leave you guessing to figure out who the murderer is, while taking you on an amusing adventure with Lucy and her friends. There are so many funny parts to each story.
This is one series that I hope will continue for a long time!
I picked up The Vampire Knitting Club after my friend, Amanda, posted about it here and I thought... this looks fun. I gave it a shot and was not disappointed.
This box set includes the first three books of this adorable series about an American running a knitting shop in Oxford with a great supporting cast of undead late-night visitors. Warren's characters all have idiosyncrasies that make them enjoyable to learn about and they are described in such detail that you can imagine them walking off the pages. The mysteries are tame and fun, but intriguing.
Each of these books places Lucy (the knitting shop proprietor) at the center of a mysterious death. She uses her wit, witchy senses, amateur sleuthing friends, and luck to solve the capers.
If you are looking for a fun, quick read that will have you downloading the books one after another... check it out. Note: I did receive a copy of these books in exchange for my honest review.
The Vampire Knitting Club Boxed set: books 1-3 is a fabulous read and the perfect introduction to this wonderful cozy mystery series. When Lucy's grandmother dies she leaves her little knitting shop in Oxford to Lucy. As well as grieving and trying to run a business she knows absolutely nothing about Lucy also faces a few secrets and challenges along the way. Then of course there are the murders.
I have read all of these books individually and instantly loved them. They are interesting, quirky, well written and original with a diverse range of wonderful characters that appear throughout the series. This boxed set is a true delight with knitting, witches, vampires, a hint of romance and Nyx Lucy's familiar who loves nothing more than sleeping in the baskets of wool. I cannot recommend this boxed set, or the entire series, highly enough. It is one you will want to read again and this is the ideal way to do so.
I find this series interesting and fun to read/listen to! Main character Lucy is a hoot! The first story is her coming to her grandma in England to find out she is dead. She solved the murder and made some interesting friends alone the way! The second story dealing with the next door neighbor. The clues are there and you can solve the mystery alone with Lucy! The third story leaving you guess who can Lucy really trust and not out to kill her! The one thing is a pattern is she can’t keep an assistant! Maybe the next one will break the curse ( just kidding about the curse). But she is having trouble keeping them! There no “R” or “XXX” in this book. I love the narrator,Sarah Zimmerman. She does an excellent jobs with each characters! I hope you will enjoy this books as much as I do! I’m on to the next box set!
Though I came to this series late (read a couple out of order and am finally starting from the beginning), this is absolutely the most unique and enjoyable vampire series that I’ve ever read! This great box set is the perfect was to dive into this amazing series! Warren creates characters that have depth and wit and are completely relatable. Lucy and her supporting cast are so much fun! Each character is richly drawn and contributes to the overall tone and complexity of the stories. The mysteries are well imagined, thoughtfully plotted and engaging written. This series is absolutely addictive! Nancy Warren has quickly become one of my favorite authors! I can’t recommend this series highly enough!
Lucy goes to visit her Grandmother in Oxford and sadly finds she has passed away and left her shop & flat to Lucy and asks her to continue to run it for at least a year. Lucy can't knit and isn't sure she wants to be saddled with a knitting shop at 27. Things may not be as they seem though & the longer Lucy stays the more adventure she finds herself getting involved in. This is a great cozy/paranormal series & I can't wait to see what happens with the characters next. It is an engaging and light read that I really enjoyed!
Oh, boy!!! This was so much fun!!! I've already picked up the next box set of three books. Sarah Zimmerman, the narrator, made this story even more fun.
Though we had vampires, there was no blood-sucking. And though knitting was part of the story, no patterns were given. Though for some of us, that would be fun to try, I think that would steal the magic from the story. And not all crocheters are saints! That's all I'm saying about that.
And you don't have to be a knitter or a vampire lover to love these stories. Just be ready for magic.
This series was an enjoyable read. Set in Oxford, Lucy stops in to visit her grandmother at her knitting shop, only to discover her grandmother is dead...or is she? (This isn't a spoiler as this all happens in the first couple chapters. Turns out, her grandmother has a nest of vampires living below her knitting shop, which Lucy has just inherited. Then Lucy learns two things...she's a witch and she's a horrid knitter. Add in a handsomely rich vampire and a neverending string of murders, hold on and enjoy the series. You won't be sorry.
I just completed the first three books of the Vampire Knitting Club. I must admit, I do love reading books with young heroines with fantastic friends. Rack mystery is tied up in the end with a big fat bow. The camaraderie makes you feel like you are home. Adding knitting and crocheting to the mix makes it even better, feel good story telling. It’s great to have these stories to hide away in when you need to escape the real world for a little while.
Lighthearted whodunnit combining witches, vampires and knitting. Young girl inherits a wool shop from her grandmother. Finds she is not dead but a newly converted vampire and living with her friends under the store. She in turn discovers she is a witch . Throw in a murder to solve and a cat and the struggle to master knitting and there is the story. Ideal for holiday reading or when you are looking for an uncomplicated read.
What a marvelous aray of outrageous caracters surrounding these clean cozey murder mysterys .Who would have guessed the university town of Oxford is inhabited by witches , wizards and knitting vampires .Nancy Warren has created an amazing wimsicle ,magical ,and intreageing series. Aquier a copy of this series today "The Vampire Book Club:Books 1-3"so you yourself can enjoy reading it as much as I have. 🙄😊Kat
Such. Great. Stories! This is a fabulous set of three entertaining stories with the MC learning secrets about herself and her family while becoming acquainted with paranormal beings who are as helpful and as interfering as her “normal” family. The only downside is that you will be tempted to stay up far too late reading “just one more chapter”! It was my pleasure to receive this ARC and give my honest review.
Just finished the first three books - absolutely loved them!! The characters are relatable- I believe that Lucy and I would be fab friends-all side characters are lovably quirky. The plot lines are paced well- and have a good twist. Scenery is so well described-just increases my desire to visit Oxford. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series...
Embark upon a reading adventure that will not disappoint and leave you wanting more.
No matter how far fetched the plot of this book, the intrigue keeps one reading and accepting the fantastic events as plausible. I can’t wait to continue my reading journey into into the adventure and wish I could visit the intriguing yarn shops. I am a medium experienced knitter and crocheter always wanting to improve my skills.
Starts with a very intense and adventurous foundation surrounding the new mysterious happenings in the life of Lucy. Continues with Lucy's in the middle of a bunch of murder mysteries and she's settling in and very busy sleuthing. Ending with a little less cozy but just a gripping. I wish she had just a little bit of romance (especially with Rafe) to balance out all the chaos in her life.
This was a great start to a wonderful series. This is the first three and I enjoyed each story. If you like a good mystery with paranormal thrown in, them this is the series for you. It was fun trying to figure out the mystery of who did it and why before it is revealed. I love the quirky characters. I would definitely recommend this book. I was given an arc and this is my honest review.
These books are definitely original and very entertaining. The witches and vampires and Nyx the familiar are fabulous characters and the plots are fascinating. Very cosy mystery, American in England, and original. Very well written, I thoroughly recommend these stories
I absolutely adore this series. The characters are unique, witty, developed beautifully and so easy to imagine. The plots in each book are are complicated enough to stay interesting, and have the brilliant ability to draw the reader in and puzzle out the problems with the protagonist you want to be friends with, Lucy Swift. A superb series and so great to have bundled into box sets!!
