A forbidden love sparks between a fairy and a demon king in this thrilling fantasy romance.Jiani is a sparrow fairy who takes a chance at becoming assistant to the immortals’ fairy king. One day, she stumbles upon a mysterious prison in a treasure tower, where she unwittingly thaws the frozen Taisun, the legendary ruler of the dragon demon shifters. He has been trapped there for eons by his sworn enemy, the tyrannical king of the immortal realm. Taisun is grateful for his freedom but furious at the fairy who broke his curse. He vows to take revenge on the immortals who imprisoned him, and he decides to use Jiani as his pawn. He follows her back to her home, hating the curse that mates her heart to his. But he soon realizes their bond is more than a convenient alliance. He is attracted to the spirited fairy, who challenges his every move. Jiani is unaware that her new friend is a mighty demon. She suspects he might be dangerous but also sees a softer side to him. He cares deeply for his subjected people, wanting to return their homes and loved ones to them. She falls for the demon king despite their differences and star-crossed relationship. But their love is not without obstacles. The king of the immortal realm is furious that his enemy has escaped. He sends his armies to hunt down Taisun, unaware that if he kills him, he will kill Jiani, too. When the two fall in love despite their differences while returning to his realm, can the rule forbidding marriages between fairies and demons be reversed?
This is very much like an adaptation of Love Between Fairy and Devil, but with a much kinder Devil. There are some differences and I did like the parts that were original.
I’ll round up from 3.5 stars because there is no explicit content and that is refreshing. The ending seemed a little rushed to get to the wedding, but I do love that here we get to SEE them not only reunited, but married. No doubts.
It's so good! I love how you get to hear two sides of the story from both characters eyes and the love between the two main characters is just endless and beautiful, I would love to see more of what happens between Tai and Jiani
I honestly found this book to be very disappointing. The plot from the summaries looked like it would be really good and intriguing however it was a massive disappointment. I have now had to DNF this series as it was so convoluted with the plot and twists that I could not make had nor tail of it.
I feel as though the author has attempted to do enemies to lovers and has had a massive fail with this. The story does not make sense, relationships do not make sense, there is no buildup, there is no enjoyment in reading the series for me personally. I finished the first book only to try and give it a shot however I found myself severely disappointed and unable to continue reading the series. It was so difficult to even read this one. I did not even find myself rooting for the characters within the book, instead I find myself wishing that they would have some depth and being completely disappointed when they did not.
I would not recommend this book as it is a difficult read, does not flow and has no real plot line. In my opinion it’s a convoluted attempt and high unenjoyable.
I wanted to like this. The cover? Gorgeous. The blurb? Very intriguing. But it just wasn’t for me.
The writing just wasn’t there for me. I tried so hard to get to 50%, but it dragged on and on, with very little movement. It was so repetitive in conversation that I only made it 24%. I even skipped around a bit to see if it progressed or got any better, and I just could not see myself finishing this book. It read very fanfic, which there’s nothing wrong with, but it’s just not for me.
This had everything that I was hoping for and enjoyed how great everything worked with the overall feel of the genre. The characters worked well in this universe and I enjoyed getting to know the world. It left me wanting to read more in this series and enjoyed what I read. Lisa Bram has a great writing style and I was hooked from the first page.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book so much. It was very emotional and romantic, full of action and interesting twists. Their love story is epic and inspiring. My favorite book this year so far. Can't wait to read the next one.
DNf’d around 60% percent. I could not put any more time into it. It was a struggle to get to where I did. The writing and storytelling was very poor. Definite TELL and absolutely NO showing. Didn’t connect with the characters at all.
I couldn't get very far into this because the main female lead was absolutely AWFUL. She was clueless, unrealistic, and just straight up dumb. The main male was alright, but I couldn't get past how much I couldn't stand the main character.
