In their picturesque cottage in Cornwall, detective Sam Kitto and magazine editor Loveday Ross are revelling in the joys of parenthood with baby Rosie. But when Loveday's artist friend, Lawrence, is drawn into a deadly game with a nemesis from the past, their peaceful world unravels. Intrigue and murder abound, and Loveday's friends are in danger. Can she resist the lure of the mystery and remain true to her promise to stay out of the fray? Or will she take matters into her own hands to bring the killer to justice?
Journalist Rena George, author of The Loveday Mysteries - a murder mystery series set in Cornwall - began her fiction career writing romances for the DC Thomson Pocket Novels. Her first novel, DANGER AT MELLIN COVE, set in 18th century Cornwall, is still one of her best sellers. The new sequel, MISTRESS OF MELLIN COVE is already climbing the rankings.
Praise for the Mellin Cove Series:
“DANGER AT MELLIN COVEgave me the same thrills I got when I first read Jamaica Inn. Terrific! It had me completely gripped and entranced. I thoroughly enjoyed it.” - E-Scape Press Author Judy Jarvie.
“A smashing read enjoyed every page, full of suspense, a good story well written, would recommend this book to my friends.” Amazon reader review
“A good story to settle down with after a long day of stress. It takes the reader to another time and place and reveals a slice of life from the point of view of Hedra who is a naïve, but spunky young woman. She has a strong sense of right and wrong. Even though she comes from wealth and position, she relates to the needs and circumstances of the hardworking people of Mellin Cove.” - Long and Short Reviews

* The new Loveday Ross novel will be published in December.
Rena was born in Scotland, but now lives with her husband in Yorkshire. She has three grown up children, and four grandchildren.
When not writing, or on research trips to Cornwall, she can be found walking on the cliff top, the beach, or around the local busy harbour.
This was another great Loveday mystery! Loveday becomes embroiled in another murder investigation when Brian Teague, a man she met briefly when accompanying her artist friend, Lawrence, to a meeting with him, is found dead in his house. Brian had blamed Lawrence for the death of his wife and unborn twins after they were killed in a car wreck that Lawrence served time in prison for (even though Lawrence's wife was driving the car that hit Brian's wife). Lawrence is attacked and left in the hospital. Afterwards, more people are killed. Is there a connection between the murders or not? Find out by reading this intriguing mystery. I highly recommend it to other cozy mystery readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
This was the first book that I have read in this series, and it does work as a standalone. I really like it and will have to go back and read more of them. Loveday is going back to work after having her daughter but has a brilliant plan on how she can mother and work at the same time. An old friend of Loveday's, Lawrence, is brutally beaten shortly after Loveday accompanied him to a meeting with Brian Teague. Teague has an old grudge against Lawrence but claims he is over it. Is Teague the one who attached Lawrence? If so, then who murdered Teague? Can Loveday and her partner Sam the detective unravel what has happened before anyone else is hurt?
