This was charming. You can tell the author put in some effort, so it wasn't just relying on the Disney motif to move the story. Is there instalove here? Absolutely. But is it entertaining—after a shoujo lover's heart? Yes.

However, the story isn't without problems. I like the quick pacing, but it can be to the story's detriment sometimes during plot progression. For instance, SPOILER:. This also happens in sudden lore dumps that characters shouldn't realistically know. For instance, characters automatically know who is a prince or princess, with no prior knowledge or magic, because the plot calls for it.

As readers, we still know very little about Valdou. I'm assuming he's a bodyguard, but 3 volumes in and nothing.

If you overlook a few story mechanic issues, this is still fun to read in 2026. Rei is giving Kingdom of Hearts realness. This is a safe, clean manga to give to a young reader new to shoujo manga.

Backstory: As a little girl, I'd see this manga on display all the time at Barnes & Noble. I'd touch the cover and flip through a few pages, but I never bought it. I'm finally fulfilling that childhood dream in reading this now.

This was actually sooo cute and fun- I loved it!! The art style was so smooth and pretty, and I think the series did a great job incorporating the princess's stories naturally, and also adding lots of adventure, not to mention romance!! It was a VERY enjoyable read!! Give it a go!!
