I dislike how shoddy the books in this series are, but I keep picking them up every time I see one, because even though they are barely mediocre in writing and art, they satisfy my urge to learn a little more about a musical group I like and prompt me to explore a little more of their musical catalogue than I usually listen to.

As with the other "Pop Rock en BD" or "Music Stars in Comics" volumes I've read, this book consists of six-page sequential-art vignettes about the musicians followed by two-pages of text that mostly repeats what I saw in the comics pages and sometimes provides slightly more context information. The twenty-eight short chapters blast through six decades of music and band in-fighting -- so they cover a lot of ground quickly -- and are all illustrated by different artists of with disparate styles, skill-levels, and abilities to capture the likenesses of Pink Floyd's band members.

Because Pink Floyd has operated in fits and starts, it feels like the last seven chapters are stuck in a cycle of "and that's the last time Pink Floyd ever performed," followed by, "Well, except for . . . " over and over. The last fifty pages get a little frustrating and left me feeling a bit JUST BE DONE ALREADY!!!

So anyway, if you too want a fawning (mostly) comic-book history of Pink Floyd with "VH1 Behind the Music" vibes, this will probably satisfy slightly more than it annoys and give you an excuse to listen to some old records again.

5 ⭐️. Most likely book of the year for me. Waters trying to sue Floyd over the use of the pig and what Gilmour does to circumvent the issue is hilarious. A great read that tells the history of a once in a generation band.

The primary problem with this book is that it is not cohesive in any way. There are various artists contributing a different part of the story in a different style interspersed with written articles, the content of which frequently repeats the graphic or comic portions. I do not know if AI was used to translate this from French, but it sounds like it was written by an AI or else somebody doesn’t speak English very well. Overall, some of the comics are very well done and entertaining, but the volume as a whole gives the impression of being compiled by somebody who didn’t particularly care.

Pink Floyd in Comics! was an incredibly well written and enjoyable graphic novel biography of the band from the very start to the present day. This is my first dip into the NBM Line of Biographies but I will certainly keep a lookout for other ones that interest me. I loved how each chapter of the story featured a different style and vibe, although sometimes I did find it hard to differentiate between band members.

It was interesting reading about Pink Floyd in a graphic novel format. I learned a lot about behind the scenes activity for each of their albums. The only criticism I have is that the information in text before each chapter really said the same thing as the graphic portion. Too much repetition. Overall I would recommend it to Pink Floyd fans.
