Dr. Jenny Butler, Ph.D. (Folklore and Ethnology, University College Cork, 2013; B.A., Philosophy and Folklore, UCC, 2001), is a Lecturer in the Study of Religions Department at University College Cork, where she is a faculty member of the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences and sits on the College Executive Management Committee (CEMC). Previously she was a Lecturer in Folklore and Ethnology at the same institution.

Dr. Butler is the Secretary of The Irish Society for the Academic Study of Religions (ISASR), a Committee Member of the Anthropological Association of Ireland (AAI), and a formal Collaborator of University College Cork's Marginalised and Endangered Worldviews Study Centre (MEWSC). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture (ISSRNC). Dr Butler founded the research network, the Irish Network for the Study of Esotericism and Paganism (INSEP), a Regional Network of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism (ESSWE), of which she is an Officer of the Executive Board. She is a Member of the National Women's Council of Ireland (NWCI) and is a Committee Member of the UCC Branch of the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT).
