Vishnul Jain was born in Australia. He is an avid mythology and history enthusiast. Mythology is the essence of human civilization and upon traveling the world, Vishnul began to appreciate mythology’s impact on cultures. With a close connection to Hindu and Greek mythology, Vishnul has incorporated elements into his own writing.
Moreover, Vishnul has been faceting gemstones, including colored diamonds, for years. Much like mythology, gemstones tell a story that is deep-rooted. Growing up, magic and fantasy colored Vishnul’s imagination. They provided hope, optimism, and most importantly endless possibilities. Vishnul aspires that the next generation of young readers and readers young at heart will use his writings to do the same for them.
Second in the series, this book started off perfectly where the first ended. The characters that were depicted in Return of the Once Monarch came full circle in this book - an AHA moment for me! I love the meanings and messages in this book. The merging of different cultures is fresh. Highly recommend it.
Having been completely mesmerised by the first installment in this series, naturally, my anticipation was sky-high as I delved into "The Future King: Rise of the Sorcerer".
I cannot emphasise enough how impressed I am with the work of this talented author. Their exceptional storytelling abilities, coupled with their evident passion and profound expertise in mythology and history, shine bright on every page. This infusion of depth and interest adds an incredible layer to the narrative, making it utterly engrossing and impossible to put down!
Regardless of whether you are a seasoned enthusiast of Arthurian stories or a newcomer to this realm, the fascinating odyssey of Morgana in this chapter will unquestionably entice you further into the phenomenally crafted storyline. The relentless battle between Merlin and the forces of darkness continues to unfold, and it's riveting to witness the evolution of his character. With each page, his courage grows, and the intricate plot takes us on a thrilling journey toward redemption.
Unarguably, this epic fantasy series deserves all the praise it receives. It is clear that Jain is a rising star in the literary world, and I am certain that their future works will continue to astound readers and solidify their position as a prominent figure in the genre. Keep an eye on this author, as they are destined for greatness!
This sequel novel was just as good if not better than the first. Fast-paced but never dropped a beat. It kept me engaged and well entertained. The magic picks up even more in this book - I love the return to Avalon in this book as a continuation of Merlin's first visit to Avalon in the first novel.
The sorcerer comes full circle and you root for Merlin to pick himself up. The other characters in the first novel come seamlessly in this sequel and it was just positively shocking how well each character blended to the storyline. Layers on layers in this novel. The author thought this book through well and then executed it at a high level. A definite read for any YA, fantasy, and 'Harry Potter' enthusiast.
This novel is even more magical than the first, for me. Merlin comes back in full force after 'The Future King - Return of the Once Monarch,' to finish his job. Jain does such a marvelous creation of building up the hero and he does not disappoint. The characters that were depicted in the novel tie well together.
It is very brilliant how Jain utilizes diamonds to empower Excalibur. The humanization of the magical creatures felt organic and fused well with Merlin. Additionally, the modernization and portraying the plot in the real world added a sense of familiarity with the series, especially 'The Future King - Rise of the Sorcerer.'
Wow! I am still in awe after reading this magical fantasy novel by Vishnul. Such a work of art that ebbed and flowed in the perfect directions. A great author can do that in the subtexts and I saw that here. The references to multiple cultures added so many dimensions to the novel and the surprising part is that it worked masterfully! A 'Harry Potter' fanatic, this series has far exceeded my expectations and I believe this series will keep breaking those newly set expectations. Read this novel for its optimism and for heroes who fight back after falling.
Merlin spectacularly rises to the occasion in "Rise of the Sorcerer." This novel moves more fast-paced than the first, which seems to be the author's intention. It lends to a "downhill" feel for the protagonist. The way Vishnul Jain portrayed the new Avalon in his coined word, Avalon 2.0, is a stroke of genius. Zephyrus is such a complex and beautifully drawn-up character! A troubled villain with a conscience is an interesting take and I loved it. This series caught my attention.
This book, in my opinion, is even better than the first one. More magic, more thrills, and the ending closes the chapter on the cliffhanger in the first book. Greek mythos characters make appearances in this second book and made me compare it to 'Percy Jackson.' This series has more dimensions than that series because it has Indian and British ingredients to go with a small helping of Persian supernaturals and the Greek mythos too. Very entertaining. Highly recommend.
Morgana as the antagonist is more than just a simple villain here. Jain depicts her with subtleties of Lucifer. Her fall from grace was observed in the Return of the Once Monarch and her devilish tendencies came out full-fledged in the Rise of the Sorcerer. I call this a thematic masterpiece. So many cultures all rolled into this series and Jain took the time to bring them all to light. A must read.
This is a beautiful coming-of-age novel wrapped in a magical fantasy. I was so thrilled to see that the sequel was out. This is well-written and I'd say it is even better than the first in some ways. The optimism and high-flying thrills in this novel add another layer to the elegance of Vishnul's vision. Vishnul took detail to conceptualize the Scepter of Avalon and Excalibur. This shows the quality of his writing. This series is gonna be a cult classic!
what a beautifully crafted whirlwind tale that neatly wraps up from book 1. it's whimsically excellent that keeps true to the theme and then delivers an impactful ending. merlin becomes larger than life in this second part and oh, does he rise to the occasion! i love the magic juxtaposed with reality. it's smart, sweet, and very well-written.
I thought Book 1: Return of the Once Monarch blew it out of the fantasy genre waters. But check out book 2: Rise of the Sorcerer. This novel by Jain is a magical powerhouse. The characters in book 1 come full circle and the magic marinates to perfection. Chapter 2: Avalon 2.0 is amazingly surreal. So far this two-part series is a treasure.
Merlin makes a comeback in this sequel and the story comes off the pages. The characters are excellent and the story develops beautifully. Merlin's personality colours well in this second part. Love this book! I definitely recommend it. Hope for part 3 soon.
Amazing storytelling in this novel. Thank you for such an entertaining piece of literature. I read many fantasy books a year and this is my favourite for this year! The story is very good and I read the second in the series too! Love to meet the author.
My favorite book of the month! The vibes of good over evil in this book are a pick-me-up. The different characters are well thought out. Chapters are distinct and end at the proper time. The story comes together well, especially at the end. A must-read for any sci fi/fantasy nerd!
I am an Arthurian legend fan and this series has been stratospherically cool for me. Fantasy readers you have to read this series. It is full of interesting characters that keep you flipping to the next page. "The Future King" will keep you entertained. Nothing short of magical.
I love the illustrations in both books. This book elevates to another level for me compared to the first one. It has more magic and thrills. The story seamlessly comes together! Merlin is a rockstar. I urge you to read it too!
MAGICAL!!! It was entertaining to follow especially with the twists that kept me bobbing and weaving with the author, Vishnul. I sincerely hope this gets made into a movie very soon because I can't wait to see the special effects and oh, Merlin!! Amazing work.
