I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story begins with Melanie in the hospital having just come out of a coma. Margot has finished visiting her and has left. There are two guards around Melania's room and the nurse for Melania brings them two cups of coffee that were drugged in order for Melanie to escape. During the escape, Melanie kills a detective who was waiting to question her again. Before he died, he also wounded Melanie who had a gunshot that was bleeding profusely. Melanie escape was also aided by two others who had stolen an ambulance.
The next day, Margor is at work when she is visiited by a U.S. Marshall who believes that she was involved with Melanie's escape. Later she receives a call from Mandy, a young girl she was friends with, asking for a ride. Upon arriving to pick Mandy up, she discovers that there were two other people there as well. While there, she became involved in a gunfight and one of the two wound up stabbing Mandy and escaping. When the police arrived, they wanted to arrest Margot for the death of the person she shot. Her Detective boyfriend arrived and took her into custody where he then released at the hospital where Mandy was taken. During her wait, another battle ensued where a U.S. Marshall was shot.
Once again Margot was arrested, but another Marshall was convinced of Margot's innocence and made a plan to use her as bait. He felt that Margot would be a target and that they could catch the person responsible for shooting the other Marshall and helping Melanie escape. Things did not work out well with this plan. Margot then got involved.
To learn what happened that blew up the plan, what role Margot played and what reason Melanie was still in the area, then you need to read this book. It is another winner for Nora Kane.
