Cindy was looking forward to Halloween this year more than ever before. She was finally 10 years old and her poppa had agreed she could now carve the pumpkin that would sit on the front porch. That day had finally arrived to her glee. However, after carving a cat on her pumpkin she experienced an odd event. It actually winked back at her. The next day Cindy is playing in her yard when she goes through the back gate into the woods. She is running through the leaves when she sees a huge pile of the brightly colored leaves. She runs and jumps into that pile and instead of landing on the leaves and ground she begins to sink and sink until she is underground. No spoilers here. You'll have to read the story to find out what happens.
This is an enchanting and engaging book. The perfect Halloween read full of mystery and suspense. Recommend this book for all ages young and old.

This book caught my attention since the moment I read its title and saw the gorgeous illustrated cover!
I loved the writing of this book and how easy it was to get into the story. I loved Cindy, the main character because of how smart she is and the way she deals with challenges,such as falling underground and being stuck with a creepy witch!! :0
If you’re looking for a spooky middle-grade book to read this Halloween, then absolutely go read this book. It is a fast-paced story with all of the fall vibes: pumpkins, a lovely cat, a scary witch, a heroine you’ll root for, and so much more!! <3

The story flows beautifully and as always I would highly recommend it.

Underground Hocus Pocus is such an intriguing and enchanting story that follows Cindy along on her adventure, which leads to a mysterious underground bunker, where a lonely witch has been stuck for an unknown period of time. The story unfolds chapter by chapter with more and more strange events that keep the reader turning the pages. There were times when I felt sorry for the witch, as her secrets were revealed. The author cleverly weaves these different layers of emotions within the story to keep us guessing and wondering what the witch wants and why she traps children underground. There are a few unexpected twists that surprised me at the end, but I will not spoil the story. You'll have to read it for yourself! This is a quick read for kids eight or above, and also suitable for lovers of middle grade chapter books who don't mind a little bit of mystery involving witches. There are also a few moments of light humour that make the story engaging, but not too scary. The perfect Halloween read.

Yet, while this book is full of excitement and spookiness, it’s not too scary for young readers. If you like a little adventure and thrill but don’t want nightmares, this is a great choice for a fun Halloween read. So grab a flashlight, find a cozy reading spot, and get ready to join Cindy on her underground adventure!

An enchanting tale that takes young readers on a magical journey through the eyes of a curious child named Cindy.
