Craig is a recovering junkie seeking redemption from a life that took a wrong turn. But when he crushes a spider on his porch in a seemingly innocent act, his life spirals into spinetingling terror and his home turns into a waking nightmare. Soon, Craig's sanity begins to unravel as lines blur between nightmare and reality when he must confront the demons deep in the darkness of both his home and himself.
"Recluse" is a creeping descent into psychological terror pushing on the boundaries of fear and the fragility of human perspective.
Ok. Let me begin by telling you that, if the cover doesn't give it away, this is not a book for someone with arachnphobia. This book is full of creepy, crawly, panic inducing claustrophobic moments... full of spiders. Holy cow. Literally had me feeling the fear and I love spiders. An insane ride into the mind and how it fails us
A quick psychological thriller with just the right amount of suspense. Many books struggle with character development, giving either too much at the front end, giving up the ending, or boring the reader with too many details. Other books have the opposite problem, where you have no way of having any attachment or investment to the main characters, as they’re just blank canvases that don’t feel real.
This book struggles with neither, your understanding of the main character’s psyche and personal struggles evolves with the story as new horrors unfold for him, and by extension yourself. 5/5, read it when you want something short, and thought provoking.
I liked Terror Zone so much that I had to check what else he had. He has a great semi short (52 pages) on KU called Recluse. It’s a little bit of a mind trip but a great read.
This is easily one of the creepiest books I’ve ever read. It might have something to do with my arachnophobia, so if you’re like me and have a great fear of spiders, I might not recommend this book. But if you’re like me and 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to read books that make you uncomfortable, make your skin crawl, feel the creepy crawlies, think about it after going to bed at night, then I will definitely recommend this book.
