Across the Atlantic, journalist Jasper embarks on an assignment to cover the 1976 presidential election. Secrets of the past unearthed and bonds of love are severely tested in this 4th book in the series, Every Parent’s Fear.
Joanna Warrington is a divorced mother to three children. Two have flown the nest. She has written seven books and writing is now firmly in her blood. She began writing as a cathartic exercise when her first child died and it snowballed from there.
She lives in West Sussex England and is a frequent visitor to various local cafes where she enjoys reading and eating cake.
Rating is 4 as the 4th book of 5 of the thalidomide series. As a standalone it would have been too herd to follow and there was too much back and 4th. I am finding this series interesting and a sad part of corporate greed of the pharmaceutical industry and the lack of testing and coverups that drastically ruined so many lives in devastating ways. I do have the 5th book and would really find this an interesting document series.
An anticlimactic ending, it was almost as though the author ran out of time to go to publishing. Disappointing "the end". Hopefully there will be a next book and I do wonder if the author will pick up where we left off and give us the reconciliation between Sandy and Jasper and also more on Bill's health. It all ended very abruptly.

Have read all four books and learnt so much about thalidomide and the tragedy of what it caused in baby's and the parents.Joyful and sad stories. So much hidden from the public.Recommend reads.
An interesting read, the last installment about a young lad with disabilities from his mother taking Thalidomide. I would like a further book to see how he got on as he became an adult and if his mothers dreams for him came true.
A great book! Joanna Warrington delivers yet another heart wrenching, gripping episode in this long running family saga about how lives were affected by Thalidomide. As it continues directly from the last book (Every Son's fear) the characters confrontational behaviour jarred me at first. Toby actually really irritated me, constantly lashing out at Bill (who did nothing but try to protect him); Sandy giving Jasper the cold shoulder for protecting Bill's secret and the vilest of them all, Sandy's mother, Irene, who is just so manipulative and spiteful. While the conflict ensures however, Jasper visits America to cover a story concerning the up and coming election, uncovering truths about the Thalidomide drug, which endanger his life. Sandy meanwhile, discovers a secret about her childhood that changes everything. I really enjoyed it, especially the way it all came together at the end.
The book has many twists and turns and shows that family life in all it's various forms is far from easy and how showing resilience during the good and the bad times, the human spirit can triumph.
