There’s never a wrong time to fall in love...2023 - Noah Diddeys is a practical kind of guy, dealing with the will of his late, much-loved grandmother. He has inherited her home and all her belongings, including some old cherished bits and pieces in her attic. Alone there, with a beer and his memories, he decides it’s time to start reviewing his Nana’s treasures. One of them, a small notebook, catches his attention...1813 - Lady Abigail Chatham has been quite brutally relegated to the Dower House by her late husband’s selfish uncle, and is now living in a great deal more modest style than is her due. She’s doing her best to settle into the less than luxurious house, and is almost reconciled to her fate. She reads a lot, and spends quite a bit of time working on a daring project – a novel. She’s filling up those notebook pages with her story...but one thing is missing. A hero.Is it the hand of Fate? A meteorological anomaly? Or just some odd hiccup in the intestines of the space-time continuum? Who knows what it is, but it dumps Noah practically into Abigail’s lap. And that’s when the fun begins...
I'm really rather boring... Honestly. I live a pretty hum-drum life as a wife and mother. I shop at the local supermarket and use coupons now and again. See? Boring stuff.
I live in Virginia now, so I am learning all kinds of new things - such as being able to buy beer and wine along with bread and toothpaste. Wow!
Having been born and raised in England, I do possess a well-developed feel for the English countryside. Comes in handy for those Regency tales. Even though I was transplanted over to the US side of the Atlantic, I still have ties to all things Brit. I bake sausage rolls and make Christmas pudding. You can take the girl out of England, but not England out of the girl, I guess.
I'm not sure anyone can write really well unless they read. A lot. I read anything and everything these days. And mostly on my couch with a book on my knees. Yes, the technology is out there for electronic versions, but there's not much to compare with a shiny new hardcover from a favorite author.
“Now and Then” takes a while to settle down and decide what kind of story it wants to tell. The first couple of pages set the scene for a Regency novel with a young widow, Lady Abigail Chatham, banished to the dower house by greedy relatives in 1813. And then slacker Noah Didddey inadvertently travels back in time, landing stark naked on her settee as a storm rages. Having paid little or no attention to his history lessons he hasn't a clue about the time or the events that will unfold – so no prosperous visits to the bookies for him! With no idea if his stay will be forever Noah decides that “This would be his home now. No more city hustle, no more scrambling, traffic, noise, or pressure. He hoped he might find someone to share it at some point in the not-too-distant future. Maybe raise a family. She’d be beautiful, happy, and into all the same kinky, weird sex stuff he was into. Even the chicken feathers.” But no, it isn't that kind of book either. It finally settles down to a romance and a plan to restore Abigail's fortunes. The writing is firmly tongue in cheek but six toes was a bit bizarre. 3 Stars.
SPOILERS: This will unfortunately be the very first book on my DNF shelf. I love time travel romances but this……this is just so, so awful, I can’t waste any more time waiting, hoping, it’ll get better. Clearly, after hanging in for a quarter of the book, it won’t. A strange man appears in your living room, in your living room in the 1800s mind you, a NAKED man, and she doesn’t even blink?? Instead, this 19th century woman pokes him in his supposedly fine ass to see how firm it is? Then HE wakes up and instead of being freaked out in ANY way, he proceeds to start hitting her up with sexual innuendo cuz, you know, she’s kinda cute. (Insert eye roll here.)
It just goes downhill from there. I tried, but life is just too short and there are much better writers and time travel stories out there. I’m ending this torture and going on the hunt for one of them.

I just finished reading Now and Then by Sahara Kelly and S.L. Carpenter and absolutely loved it! This was a regency time travel romance that captured my attention right from the beginning with some heart tugging scenes, witty dialogue and humor. I really enjoyed watching Noah and Lady Abigail fall in love and would recommend this book.
Seems like a sweet candy but with a sour salty taste. Hmmmm so good. This was another great story given by the collaboration of 2 great writers, Ms Kelly and Mr Carpenter. I have read all the stories that both authors have penned and as this collaboration continues, I look forward to the next story.
Very enjoyable read. It's funny and intriguing. How does Noah go back in time? What happens while he's there? How will he get his HEA?
My favorite quote is from a side character: "Holy sh1t? That is a strange oath, Mr Noah. But one I think I shall remember to use upon occasion. It seems to cover everything in just two little words."
This is a cute story. Noah finds an old book in his Nana's attic, and it transports him to 1815, where he meets Ms. Abigail, a young, widowed lady. The two have some adventures and I love the gypsy aspect. Couldn't get over some of the dialog though. Noah sounded like he was a college frat boy.
Storm arise sending a young back in time where he makes a difference in others he encounters. He finds that his friend includes gypsies who have powers that allows him to have a life he would not otherwise enjoy.
S. L. Carpenter’s humor isn’t to my taste. I thought that with a co-author it would be tempered somewhat, but it was still off-putting to me. I would try something that Sahara Kelly wrote on her own, though.
I do like time travel stories. Funny and exciting Noah travels back in time to meet Regency Lady Abigail Attraction is almost immediate with Noah saving the life of a gypsy woman and her son and becoming friends. Lovely story
These authors are a dream team in the way they brought together their characters. And makes me curious about just how kinky S.L. Carpenter gets in his other books.
A quick and interesting little read. Was it predictable??? Of course, it was. Was it a bit naughty??? Of course it was. Was it enjoyable??? It was indeed.
