A sweet, compelling read of love, joy, loss, and sorrow
A sweet romance of finding someone who has been right in front of you and realizing you didn’t really know them. Susie runs a preschool and daycare with the regular mix of naughty and nice children but one little boy is especially difficult. When she is uncomfortably cornered by his widowed father asking for a date, she is rescued by Elliot kissing her. Elliot is the older brother of her friend and she has known him for years, now suddenly she sees him in a different light. He could be a man she could fall for. Unfortunately, she has a secret she never reveals. A secret that will drive any normal man away. Elliot, after impulsively kissing Susie, realizes that there is more to her than he ever expected. Now his problem was to get Susie to see him as more than a grown-up class clown. To see the real person behind the persona he wears. But secrets, an angry parent, and a poor reputation stand in the way of them even spending time together. Mix in a grumpy brother, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and town gossip for a fun engaging read.

Loved it!!! This is one book that will leave you smiling. Susie and Elliott both have hearts of gold and love children. When he finally saw her all bets were off and he would do absolutely anything to make her his (not in a creepy way). He definitely was on very romantic and determined man. She thinks she is broken so finds her fulfillment in her preschool children. A great story set at Christmas with holly berries as well as Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus. Tyson as well as his dad Adam tugged at my heart. So much love, Christmas, caring, and hurt in this book. Loved loved the ending.

Familiar plot…Suzie’s not sure what she feels for her best friends brother, Elliott. He sees her in a tough spot and steps up to help out...from then on, its new plot territory in this sweet, feel-good story. Laura Ann weaves several sensitive issues with compassion and care into a wonderful story for the Christmas season. Well done! I received an ARC, with this being my honest opinion.

Sweet and sad

Can you imagine being a teen and finding out you will never be able to have children? Being a soldier who watched your best friend die? How would you handle these horrific events? Our characters handled them the best way they can even with the scars still there and find each other. Wonderful story and characters. Highly recommend!

Susie owns and teaches at a preschool. She has one student who is struggling at home and acting out at school. Elliott is called to fix the fence at the school and fast talks her into playing Mrs. Claus. He wants a real relationship. She thinks she's unworthy of a real relationship so tries to make it a fake relationship. Why does she think no one will want her? What is going on with the troubled child and his dad? Who will succeed in the real/fake battle? Is there a HEA for them?

You can’t help but love Elliot. He is outgoing, charming and full of life. Susie is a gentle sweetheart. This story weaves the romance of these two in a small Oregon coast town. It is a sweet Christmas romance that will warm your heart.
