This was an absolutely brilliant read! I love a good cosy crime and this was right up there with the best !

Dee is my favourite character I would love to spend an evening with her, she is a whitty, funny character that has you wish you were like her. With her casual attitude to a dead body in her chard to her wonderful way with her granddaughter!

Going on the journey with the ladies trying to track down the killer , soon there are clowns littering the village, can they find the killer before its too late?

A quick paced read, brilliant characters, a storyline to keep you hooked ... what more could you need!

"if she was a murderer it would be a bit like discovering that Mary Berry had a dark side."

Fun and cozy mystery! Liked all the gardening and food bits.

This was such a delightful little read, to be completely honest at first I was a little bit on the fence but I soon got drawn into the mystery of finding dead clowns around a seemingly picturesque quiet town.

I absolutely love the FitzMorris trio consisting of grandmother Dee her daughter Zara and her daughter Amelia with all there slightly different personalities and witty banter made for excellent reading and they had me chucking a few times.

I had no idea who the killer was until the very end and was very surprised! I really enjoyed this one!! I’m now looking forward to reading Murder on the Isle!

What a delightful cosy mystery, full of intrigue and high-jinks.
The Fitzmorris ladies are fabulous fun, I love the contrast of the three generations.
The setting in Little Warthing was great, I love these small village settings with such colourful characters.
The pace was quick, and I couldn't put the story down.
I kept guessing all the way through. The whodunit had me going back and forth between my guesses. I loved the reveal.
There's so much scope to continue this series, and I can't wait to read more.

Here is my review for Corpse In The Chard by Anna Armstrong

This is a terrific read and I got into it straight away right from the start. It’s an easy read and very easy to get into. I liked most of the characters, there were a couple of exceptions. Dee Fitzmorris woke up one morning to find a clown dead in her chard patch in her garden. She rings the police and they come to investigate. As he’s dressed as a clown, she doesn’t have a clue who he is or why he is in her garden. They eventually find out who he is and then Dee realises she does know him as he walks a boxer dog. One of her neighbours saw her altercation with him at three am in the morning when she was on night watch and he was walking his dog. It turns out he was an unscrupulous fellow and didn’t mind doing a bit of blackmail. He got himself pally with the right people and was known by a few people at the golf club. He had upset a few people as well. Dee and Amelia had tried asking questions about him but had not really succeeded in finding out any information that was helpful. Then Dee spoke to Alex and she had a stroke of luck and learnt something useful. I liked the storyline for this story and found it to be really good. The story is excellently written and it’s well plotted. I liked the detailed description as well, it helped to visualise the story in my mind and see it happening as described. Also, I like that there are three generations of Fitzmorris’ included in the story, Dee is mother to Zara, who is mother to Amelia, who is Dee’s granddaughter. This is a great cosy crime mystery story which is book one and I look forward to reading more about these terrific characters in the future.

What would you do if you found a dead clown in your chard? Find the killer of course! That’s exactly what Dave FitzMorris does when she finds herself in this exact situation, help of her granddaughter, Amelia and daughter, Zara. I absolutely love these characters! D is a tae kwon do, loving, mischievous, sprightly granny with a huge twinkle in her eye. She is strong, determined and outgoing. However, she is deeply hurt by the way the village treats her as a suspect in the murder, which makes her even more determined to find the real killer. Amelia is a psychology, student, Goth and a little firecracker! I love the relationship she has with me. They are definitely two peas in a pod. Zara is a law onto herself and seems to float through life. Put the three together and you get a very formidable team. The cast of characters in this book is a very eclectic mix and bring such life to the story. I loved the village setting. I could easily picture of the story as it happened in this idyllic little village with its quirky inhabitants. This is a very well written story with a fantastic plot. I really enjoyed the way the author incorporate a bit of humour into the story. I very much enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.

This is the first book in a new mystery series - The FitzMorris Family Mysteries - and I'm already hooked!

I love a good cosy crime series and have read a fair few so far.....but this one just had something a little different about it.

Dee was such a character and it was great to see another book with an older female main character - and especially one as fearless as Dee was.
My hubby does Tae kwon do so I could easily imagine and picture Dee doing all the moves!!

The addition of her daughter Zara and her granddaughter Amelia just added that brilliant generational mix and a great family dynamic to get to grips with!
I'm sure there'll be much more to come, but I loved that they were all so different in character, yet it was easy to see where the similarities lay too!

This was a great case with lots of clues laid out through the story - but it still kept me guessing!

I loved the short chapters which had me racing through the book! Every spare moment I'd be sneaking a couple more chapters in, but really, I struggled to put it down at all!

The great plot, adorable characters and light-hearted, funny narrative had me totally immersed throughout and I'm obsessed with the beautiful Cotswold village - I feel like I've already visited....but still want to go there for real too!
The descriptions were just beautiful and the images were vivid!

I've already got my book 2 to get started on and I cannot wait to see what's in store next....

This is Book 1 of The FitzMorris Family Mystery.

I absolutely love the artwork of this cover, and the Blurb is equally enticing ❤️.

I loved Chapter 1 of the book as the Chatacter introductions are great - their interactions in Chapter 1 were hilarious, and some of my favourite quotes come from this chapter!

Dee (Grandma) is very matter of fact about finding a corpse in her garden. It was hilarious to read her interactions with her daughter and grandaughter

Zara (daughter) comes across as long suffering, but I think she secretly enjoys being around her but Mum.

Amelia (grandaughter) is brilliant. I love how her and her Grandma seem so alike.

The story kicks off with Dee having found a d3ad clown in the garden, and she seems very calm about everything. The book follows Dee and the Police as they try to solve the mystery of why he was there amongst Dee's Lettuce... sorry, I mean Chard!

It is a multi-POV story, and each chapter is told by a different POV, but this adds to the charm of the story as you get to see what is happening with everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story as it is a very fresh take on a mystery!

Highly recommend, and I can't wait to read Book 2!

A small town overrun with clowns AND murders? It's just too much for their police force to handle. So, Dee Fitzmorris, who's just a little too close to the situation, since the first murdered clown was found in her chard patch, has taken it upon herself to clear her name. I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do when the cops aren't listening!

This one has some Miss Marple or Father Brown, real cozy vibes! I love a great cozy and this one fits the bill so well! The clowns aren't super creepy, but they definitely add to the mystery and creep factor. The Miss Bim Ban is certainly a great cozy character. I'd love to see more of her in the future!

If you’re a cozy mystery lover, you will absolutely adore this book. It’s the first in what is sure to be a new favorite among cozy fans. The sleuths in this one are an ensemble of classy, but hilarious ladies - a three (at least one reluctant) generation clan. Full of small-town charm, and a cast of colorful characters.

Oh gosh, I loved this book. I didn’t realise until recently that ‘cosy mystery’ was a genre - but I’ve now read a few of them and absolutely love them!
Corpse in the Chard is definitely a new author in this new genre that I have fallen in love with!
This book is a light-hearted, quite funny and brilliantly written story. I thought it sounded a bit ‘toffy’ to call the characters charming - but that is exactly what the 3 women (Dee, Zara and Amelia) are. This whole book is just a charming, beautiful book (and had some super funny moments where I actually laughed out loud!).

The Fitzmorris family is a joy to follow, each member bringing their own flair to the investigation. The plot flows smoothly, keeping you engaged until the very end. I really loved trying to work out the mystery alongside Dee, Zara and Amelia.

I can’t wait to read the next installment of the Fitzmorris family!

This is a light-hearted mystery set in a picture perfect little village in the Cotswolds.

The mystery was well-crafted. I adored the setting. The author truly captured the chocolate box cottages and I could practically smell the lovely garden.

The characters were definitely quirky, and I love that! I do wish Dee had shown a bit more moxie at the start, though I do understand that finding a body in one's chard would be enough to throw a person off balance. I hope in later books she'll stand up better to judgy neighbors.

Some parts of the story felt perfect. In some places, a bit more editing could have cut out some repetitive bits. Also, I feel like the amateur sleuths ignored one of their best clues, but then, they were amateurs and it was their first investigation.

I really enjoyed this read and I look forward to others in the series.

I want to thank @lovebookstours for my gifted copy of Corpse in the Chard by @thecotswoldwriter in exchange for my free review. This is book one in the Fitzmorris family mystery series. It is a cozy mystery.

I absolutely love cozy mysteries! This is my first read by this author, and I love it. This is an impactful first book in a series. The author's writing style was perfect for this book. You fall in love with the characters. The plot was fun. I had fun traveling the British Countryside.

The Fitzmorris ladies are amazing. I enjoyed traveling with them. I love Dee. She is funny, witty, and has a calmness about her. I can not believe how calm she was finding a dead body in her chard. She is also a wonderful grandmother to her granddaughter.

I loved trying to figure out whodunnit. If you want a fast-paced adventure full short read, this is for you.

This is book one of the series and just reading the first line of the blurb I instantly needed this book..

"loose yourself in a world of beautiful gardens and delicious food with just the odd dead body thrown in"

And I have to say what a way to start that off.. this is an incredible book, let me tell you more..

I absolutely love Dee, Zara and Amelia - they are an amazing trio! I live how their personalities are so different and they work incredibly well together.

Anna's writing style is very easy flowing of beauty and kept me intrigued all the way throughout! I was sussing everyone except the FitzMorris's. I even laughed out loud a few times to where my other half was like what's so funny.

This is a brilliant little mystery! I can't wait to dive into book two!!

When Dee, her daughter Zara and granddaughter Amelia find a clown corpse in the chard patch in their cottage garden Dee instantly becomes suspect number 1. Having little faith that the police can catch the killer, especially as they are so focused on Dee, the 3 women take matters into their own hands.

This book is full of great characters, some loveable and some not so much. The chapters are relatively short so it reads really quickly which is great for a lighthearted story. I found myself giggling at some of their antics and absolutely fell in love with the Cotswold village which is described beautifully throughout. It’s a cosy whodunnit mystery and I can’t wait to read about what they get up to next.

This was such a lovely light hearted cosy mystery! I absolutely loved Dee. She is the perfect definition of a lovely grandmother whilst being feisty and full of character and energy!

The storyline itself starts off straight away! I loved trying to understand and unravel the mystery with Dee, Zara and Amelia! I honestly think they are the perfect family trip!

It had its twists and turns that keep you guessing, a whole cast of lovely villagers who you start to doubt as being friend or foe and the addition of a couple of clowns just made this book for me. It was a really lovely quick read that I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a cosy mystery!

I cannot wait to see what adventures and troubles our ladies can get themselves in to in book 2!

‘Corpse in the Chard’ is a warm hearted, cosy mystery set in a Cotswold village and involving a host of eccentric characters. Reading this book felt like sitting in a beautiful English garden in the spring, drinking a cup of tea.

I really like the Fitzmorris family and how different the three family members are -Dee, Zara and Amelia are three generations of family with not much in common apart from their fiery red hair and their determination. The side characters were also entertaining and fun to read, especially Blossom.

I enjoyed this novel a lot and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cosy murder mystery.  Can you imagine waking up and finding a dead clown in your chard patch? How inconvenient!

I absolutely loved the FitzMorris ladies. I'd love to be adopted by them, what a trio of strong independent women!

The characters in this book were great,  almost all of them seemed so lovely,  but also had a motive.  It meant I really didn't know who to trust! And despite the fact I knew one of them was a killer, no one felt threatening at all.

Having said that, I did guess who the killer was before it was revealed in the book.  But that's ok, I still didn't know why.  It was a lovely,  fun read perfect for a weekend at home.

I have found a love for cosy crime recently and this was no different, it is described as a light-hearted cosy crime whodunnit and that is exactly what you get.

It is well written with a captivating story line that fills you with mystery but also bundles you into the warmest of hugs and tells you everything will be ok. The characters were well developed and I loved them all, but especially Amelia, Dee and Zara, I loved them singularly but they took on another level when they were working together, they fit perfectly and I was totally there for it.

There is a good amount of mystery in the book to hold the attention and I loved the pacing of the book. I also really loved the setting. It was just an all round lovely read that I would highly recommend

This is a wonderful new cozy mystery series! It has all the things I love, a quirky cast of characters and a picturesque setting, in this case a British village. The FitzMorris women, Dee, Zara, and Amelia, are strong, unique individuals and make the perfect crime solving main characters. Each of the women bring their own style to the investigation and I loved it. The mystery itself is interesting and kept me reading and trying to figure it out. All in all this was a delight and I look forward to reading more Fitzmorris mysteries.

Thanks to the author and Love Book Tours for providing a copy for my honest review.

I absolutely love a cosy murder mystery and this was no exception, I love Dee she's the perfect "older" lady character that cosy murder mysteries thrive on. I love it, gives me all the Jessica Fletcher, sleuthing old dear vibes and I'm all here for it!
Corpse In The Chard was written really well, the diversity of characters really brought this novel together, the unfortunate dead clown being the centre of the plot was great turn of a 'who dunnit' mystery.
Coupled with a fantastic line up of characters, a great plot that kept me guessing, Corpse In The Chard was a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to get my next cosy mystery fix!

Thanks to @lovebooktours.

A lovely, cosy setting for a murder mystery in a quaint Cotswold village with some rather funny characters!

I really enjoyed the FitzMorris family consisting of Dee, her daughter and her granddaughter who all have their own quirks! I really enjoyed the internal monologue included so we could follow along Dee’s thoughts along the journey. At first, I thought having two clowns in one village who worked at the same place was a little ‘out there’ but it worked overall and I got past it!

A lovely debut to the series and I look forward to reading book 2, Murder on the Isle, very soon. Look out for my review on 7th May!

I do love a cosy crime novel so was immediately drawn to this one, especially with the beautifully illustrated cover.

I loved the family dynamics between the 3 FitzMorris ladies Dee, Zara and Amelia. They are 3 quite unique and quirky characters.

From the time the first clown corpse turned up in Dee’s garden I was totally hooked. It was great getting to know the villagers and their secrets and I loved trying to piece the mystery together to try solve it. I got the killer wrong, although I should have known.

I'm really looking forward to catching up with the ladies in book 2.

This is a brilliant cozy mystery. I love the FitzMorris women and all their antics. They have such a good relationship with each other. I also really like Nicholas and Josh, they make an unlikely pairing and yet they work well together.
The plot is awesome. For the life of me, I could not guess the murderer and I was absolutely flabbergasted when the murderer was revealed.
All in all, a brilliant cozy mystery. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

I FINALLY finished this book. I took way too long to read it because of life things.

So, to begin with, I really enjoy this author's writing style. It is fun and quirky and I liked that a lot. I also enjoyed most of the characters, but especially Dee. She was very funny and had some great one liners! However, the story itself I found to be very slow and honestly uneventful until almost the very end. That made it hard for me to want to continue reading, sadly.

Thankyou to the author for a copy to read and review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book is the first in a series of cosy mysteries and what a start! I love this genre and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this after reading the blurb.

It was a really quick read for me, I loved the writing style, the characters were all absolutely brilliant. I cannot wait to read more of Dee and her adventures on holiday in the next book.

I definitely didn’t see the ending coming, it was all just absolutely brilliant!

Trigger warning for anyone who has Coulrophobia.

This is a gentle, fun cosy crime read! We meet Dee who seems to have found a body in her garden (a corpse in her chard, if you will!)… there follows an investigation into the slightly mad happenings of their little village (which has a surprising number of clowns 😂), and it will keep you guessing right until the end!
I don’t know if murder mysteries can be calm, but this was! Not too heavy, but interesting enough to keep you engaged!

A beautiful setting, quirky characters, and an unusual murder mystery. Corpse in the Chard has all of the components that I love about a cosy crime.

At first, I was unsure about the book, and I needed a little bit of time to get into it. The characters' interactions seemed quite old-fashioned, but then there was the mention of mobile phones, and I had trouble dating the story. But the more I read, the more I began to realise that the Fitzwilliam women - Dee, Zara, and Amelia - are just amazingly eccentric!

The story was enjoyable and kept my interest. Beginning with a clown corpse found amongst the chard, I certainly wanted to read on and unravel the mystery.

An enjoyable start to a cosy crime series.

Corpse in the chard is my first read by this author, and I must say, what an impressive first read.

It's just a nice, warm-hearted, wholesome, mystery novel on a journey through the beautiful British countryside as we follow our main Character, Dee, In her effort to catch a murderer.

It's light-hearted, with laugh out loud moments, and it's throughly British.

It's an easy read, with great characters and the plot flowed brilliantly well.

The author's writing style was just perfect for this type of novel and I read this over two bright but chilly afternoons.

Iook forward to the second novel in the series.

The FitzMorris Family Mysteries Book 1.
What a lovely, easy read. I loved Dee Amelia and Zara. The cover was gorgeous. I certainly didn't like Blossom. I was hooked from page one. Couldn't put it down. I loved the writing style. I was lost in the story, and it felt like I was watching in the shadows. It really felt like I was there with the characters. I was trying to guess who it was. I had my suspects. I was very surprised with who it was. I'm looking forward to the next book. 4*.
