#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery writes heartwarming and humorous novels about the relationships that define women's lives—family, friendship, romance. She's best known for putting nuanced characters into emotionally complex, real-life situations with twists that surprise readers to laughter. Because Susan is passionate about animal welfare, pets play a big role in her books. Beloved by millions of readers worldwide, her books have been translated into 28 languages.
Critics have dubbed Mallery "the new queen of romantic fiction." (Walmart) Booklist says, "Romance novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and RT Book Reviews puts her "in a class by herself!" It's no wonder that her books have spent more than 200 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list.
Although Susan majored in Accounting, she never worked as an accountant because she was published straight out of college with two books the same month. Sixteen prolific years and seventy-four books later, she hit the New York Times bestsellers list for the first time with Accidentally Yours in 2008. She made many appearances in the Top 10 before (finally) hitting #1 in 2015 with Thrill Me, the twentieth book in her most popular series, the Fool's Gold romances, and the fourth of five books released that year.
Susan lives in Washington state with her husband, two ragdoll cats, and a small poodle with delusions of grandeur. Her heart for animals has led Susan to become an active supporter of the Seattle Humane Society. Visit Susan online at www.SusanMallery.com.
Ok I was looking for fluff this book definitely delivers the fluff. The main problem I have with this book is with the backstory. In a genre dominated by women it would be nice to have women's health issues discussed as if women were people with ability to choose what they want for their bodies and their lives.
I expected more from this book, the beginning was fantastic. It got soft in the middle and the ending was rushed. It had SO MUCH potential which it didn't fulfill. Jim's background was a great source of angst for this book but it didn't really explore it as well as it should have. Also, Heather had some baggage that was swept under the rug and definitely not explored well.
Romances for the sake of romance are in a word boring. Heart, Angst, Fear has to be part of the mix to make it exceptional.
I usually love this authors stories but though this one is well written it wasn't the gripping tale I'm use to.
Heather Fitzpatrick is very pregnant, utterly alone and definitely finished with men...until she steps into an elevator with Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome. Pilot Jim Dyer proves to be a heart-stopping hero, too, when the elevator suddenly stalls--and Heather lurches into labor! Jim's manly midwifing creates instant intimacy, and he dotes on the baby like the world's proudest papa. But despite their sizzling chemistry, both heart sore Heather and woman-wary Jim are staunchly barricaded against marriage. Can one tiny newborn break down their defenses...and teach them to believe in love? A quick moving, emotional packed story, that will leave you wanting more. 5 stars.
The elevator setting for the beginning of this book was a propos for the continuing ups and downs of Heather and Jim's relationship. The theme continues with his helicopter business and concludes with a scene with a kite. I loved the beliefs shared by all the characters that people deserve a first and a second chance. Jim hired recent graduates of a local aviation school as mechanics and pilots, then helped them find better positions. The struggles he and Heather have surrounding their relationship don't go as smoothly but they are interesting. A good Susan Mallery read.
If I had delivered a baby on the floor of a stuck elevator, it would have been the main topic of every conversation from then on, but in this book, it gets dropped and never mentioned again. Odd. I enjoyed Heather and Jim's growing relationship, and thoroughly enjoyed Jim's Mr. Fix-It personality. He's a male Pollyanna, a role I can always appreciate, whether male or female. I loved people to get "fixed". So that part of the book was excellent. Heather and Jim's relationship left a lot to be desired, and I couldn't really get into it.
this was a very sweet book! I loved how Heather, and Jim met, and what they went through together within a hour of first meeting. It was amazing how one small tiny person can bring two lost souls together. Jim was always helping everyone. No one ever saw that he was the one that needed saving. He never let anyone get close to him. He would help them and send them on their way. When he tried to send Heather away she told him that she loved him, and that he was not going to push her away. It took him awhile to realize that he could not live without mother and child.
It's a sweet story I liked the characters and they did have chemistry But I feel like I didn't get enough of them as a couple. He all of a sudden admits his feelings but it doesn't give you a look into anything after it's like I love you then it ends pretty fast. I feel like there needed to be a end that showed more of their relationship maybe another kid in the future. There just wasn't enough of them actually together and It felt like a let down. But I did enjoy the book.
I thought this was a completely different type of story from Ms Mallery's usual, so it's a new view into this authors style. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of strangers meeting during crisis, their inner strength to survive life's bumpy roads, and finding true love during the journey. Very sweet story.
A cute story but very redundant. Lots of repeat sentiments. I don't understand why authors have to say the same sentence 50 times? Do they think readers are daft? I also don't care for books that mistake sex for romance. It was a fun simple read, worth the time even if I had to skip a lot of pages.
It's Awesome how Jim comes to term with falling in love with Heather. The unconditional love of Diane makes him see how he pushed everyone who ever got close to him. Until one day he realizes he can't live without both mother and daughter
I really liked this book about a woman who meets a man in the elevator when she goes into labor. The man stays in her life and they fall in love. There is some depth of characters.
A great read enjoyed every page of this wonderful story about two lost souls who are thrown together. Susan Mallery seems to always have great books on her hands love reading her books.
Once again, Susan Mallery has delivered a fabulous romance story. I love how good I feel when I read her books. She is the queen of happily ever after!
A sweet novel of happenstance meeting that helped heal the hero more than heroine. It had a very touching and sad story of Jim's past and why he was a certain way.
