I struggled with this one. I almost did not finish but pushed through.
This couple meets at a restaurant. She's a waitress (she has several jobs) and run's into a stock room I believe looking for something, drinking glasses??. Well she finds this good-looking guy and presumes he's the entertainment (stripper of some sort 😂) for the private party that is going on in the restaurant. And she came to that conclusion because his shirt was unbuttoned and he was good looking (he was cleaning a spot off his shirt). They are instantly attracted and have a little interaction during the party. And yes, she finds out he's a guest of the person throwing the party, his godmother I believe.
She leaves after her shift is done. Well he runs after her because there was just something there. They meet up in a gondola lift, the transportation to the restaurant. They are the only two in there and get stuck as there's a storm. Well they end up having sex. She runs away as soon as they are back to ground level.
She becomes pregnant and has the baby. The hero comes back into town where they met to do some business and thought he would see if he can find the heroine . Well he does run into her and realizes she had his baby. He is determined to be in the babies life. So they work on co parenting.
I have to say I found both characters underwhelming. The hero was beta and heroine came across as insecure and whiney. The story line was a little bit over the top (the gondola lift sex scene was 🙄). The development of their relationship was a rollercoaster ride and not in a good way. Yes, no and maybe, very confusing and silly at times. The heroines reasoning and doubts came across as insecure and wishy washy.
I normally like the majority of the authors books but sadly this one was a disappointment, real let down.

A spicy first-person romance set in Australia-New Zealand from Harlequin Presents took me onto a new journey of exploration!
I had a very different experience reading this Mills&Boon/Harlequin and it was the first time I read from the first-person POV. It was so interesting to understand Talia and Dain as they raise their son.
Independently living her life with some jobs she does, Talia cannot refuse when her friend asks for help to be a waitress in a luxurious restaurant. Well, I could understand why Talia mistakenly thought that Dain is part of the entertainment and is mesmerized by the half-naked Dain, because, to be honest he seems to be tantalisingly tempting, standing there like a statue from Greek mythology.
With the flirting and unexpected passion that sparks from their first encounter, they end up in a steamy gondola scene and I tell you, it’s so steamy! And, of course, it has an unexpected consequence.
Talia is so independent and caring. After her traumatic upbringing, she is determined not to rely on anyone. But, Dain is also determined to take care of both Talia and his son, even though his past keeps haunting him.
It is a dual emotional and dramatic story, written from a first-person perspective. It’s full of passion and very endearing - two flawed characters try to overcome their past and present.

A chance at love
This is a good book, it’s about 2 people whose childhood has created severe trust issues. Both suffered from lack of security and stability. They meet when she is waitressing and mistakes him for a stripper. He has come to celebrate his godmother’s birthday. They have an unexpected tryst that leads to an unexpected pregnancy, which she keeps from him. Both are wary of the other but want to work together for their son. They are able to overcome their fears to find love. Great ending.

Been a while since I’ve a while since I’ve read from this author and I’m reminded why I’ve rated her books highly in the past. This is pretty standard for a secret baby story, but something about Natalie’s writing really capture the emotions and reticence that comes with falling in love. I liked both characters and the NZ and Australia settings. Another reviewer mentioned, more angst was needed for the end (I think things were resolved kind of quickly). Lastly, I enjoyed first person POV this time around and this was pretty spicy for Harlequin!

I enjoyed reading this story. I liked how well the story flowed and how the characters developed throughout the book. I would recommend this book.

Loved this story about Dain and Talia. He is a billionaire and she is a waitress but their chemistry was off the charts. Thankfully with their son Lukas they were able to forge ahead a relationship built on love and trust.

This is a nicely developed story about Dain and Talia. Their journey starts as a night of passion, a surprise and then moves to bliss and happiness. This is a good story and a touch emotional at times. It is also entertaining with steamy and passion.

I've read several books written by Natalie Anderson; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This one tugged at my heart strings.
We have two broken people that come together one night and make a child.
Hero is celibate during time apart-as well as heroine.
My only wish that the angst was turned up a notch during the climax of the story but overall so good.

2.5 stars honestly the first part was great every thing past the half way point was hard to read. Talia was just annoying me with her way of thinking. Honestly felt like two people wrote this book..

I’ve read and enjoyed many of this author’s books, but I’m afraid this was very disappointing. And it was all down to the miserable heroine.
I really dislike the “I am not good enough, everyone else is superior to me’ heroines. Yes, being in a different milieu can be challenging, disconcerting but actually believing other people are better and that you are not worthy? No I don’t want to see any reader taking that in - and thinking that means social mobility doesn’t exist.
Talia was a miserable, whining, judgemental, self sacrificing martyr of a character. I found her back story insufficient explanation for her constant negativity.
She has sex for the very first time, in a gondola going down a mountain. Seriously? She runs off, makes only tentative attempts to get in touch with the hero when she discovers she’s pregnant, and then when he turns up, blames him!
Also blames him for going straight to another woman (when in fact he hadn’t). She really was the most miserable and boringly predictable woman.
Dain was a perfectly pleasant, reasonable, generous, and somewhat boring hero. ( I found his name utterly off-putting - where did it come from?)
He responded to her every miserable, untrusting accusation with calm, reasonable responses. When he finally lost his temper with her at the end, I cheered.
Sorry, but this lacked the excitement and the chemistry and the emotional satisfaction that I expect from this author. It just doesn’t feel like her voice.
