The Abyssal Rift threatens to swallow Heartillia, but within it lie unseen treasures...
Having escaped the cult and become an adventurer Noah had found and killed the traitorous team that had been responsible for betraying Aurelia, and at the heart of it, discovered a much grander and sinister plan.
An Abyssal Rift is about to open in Heartillia and Noah is invited to the city by its Lord on a special quest. Having reached level 50 at a rapid rate, he will need to train his body to keep up with his soul's progress. But the effort will be worth the price when Noah learns what awaits him at the end.
Well written, but every time something happens in this book, it’s like it was torn out of another series. Just a string of events and character growth borrowed from other books.
Really interesting adventure with enough mystic worldbuilding to add depth to the storyline.
The MC meets new allies and adversaries whilst battling monsters and zombies. I did appreciate the training montages. I find MC's that become OP almost entirely through XP, with barely any actual training to be unrealstic even for fantasy. We all know that theory is no substitute for experience. The story also contained very intruiging explanations of how skill-books aka tomes leverage mana to transfer spells. There was enough character sheet descriptions of his attributes and potential paths, but it didnt get overwhelming or take away from the storyline
The MC met up with the Jackalope that he was responsible for getting addicted to lifeblood. There was a large conflict. But that was before he befriended a shadow wolf's host, met a guardian dragon, created some clones, fought an illusionist and an Abyssal Maw. But now he's gotten really strong.
The storyline was strong and entertaining with lots of twists and unexpected turns. The psychology of getting stronger, not just for the sake of beating down others but towards a higher goal was compelling. The monsters and their attributes were quite interesting, especially Tony and Bun Bun. Still there was no personal relationship development towards intimacy. He has been adventuring with Aurelia the whole time, though he crossed paths with a few other women, namely Nae, Snow and Vix. So far he's barely had an "impure" thought. That's just not normal, even if he's playing for the other team. I think relationship development is necessary to balance charcters so its not all murder hobo.
All told, this is a very interesting and exciting adventure that's quite creative and engaging. I look forward to the next installment which comes out next month. I will also look for other works by the author, Krazekode.
SPOILER: Plot is full of nonsense. Unexplainable body changes for absolutely zero reason or purpose, other than "MC OP m'kay" and a MC that asks absolutely no questions as his body is literally being remade by some back alley scetchy prostitute Doctor. And then our party of super duper geniuses take a job to infiltrate a cult, that knows their identity btw, by being begged by guild affiliates, let me pause there. They are literally BEGGED to take a job and when given access to the armory via the terms of the agreement are standoffish and basically tell them they can maybe keep them. If they're good little doggies and complete the suicide mission. And all the while the MC takes this crap happening to him like a beaten dog and smiles at them. It's completely ridiculous. After reading all of this you are now on page 27. Good luck, because I'm not reading this cringe crap.
I'm enjoying this series, and I definitely will keep on reading. That said, I noticed a few things. This book reads a bit like a fanfiction of one (actually two) of my favorite series. A lot of the growth path and skills are alike, and it just feels... well-known. This has become a piece of slight irritation to me over the course of this book, actually. Enough so I couldn't enjoy it quite as much as I'd like to.
That said, the story itself seems quite original. I still have that issue with the too complicated stats, the choices done more for the sake of the story than actually character-driven, and I found the addition of more and more sidekicks a bit annoying. Some seem to be in for comic relief, too, which I'm not a huge fan of.
I'll continue to enjoy the series. And I'm sure I'll like this. Not one of my all-time favorites, but quite solid, and I'm looking forward to improvements in book 3. :)
I had trouble getting back into this world and the story, but also I had confidence that it would only be a matter of time. By the time Snow a young girl was introduced into the book, and Noah was taking an interest in her, and then right after that, the jackalope finally caught up with Noah again, I found myself totally mesmerized by what was happening in the book. You just gotta love a beast companion!!! Well Noah and his team received a quest that was in a pocket realm sandwiched between the world and the rift inorder to find and bring back a shared dropped by a dead God. So not only does Noah hafta rank up but his whole team has'ta get stronger too. Grab the book to find out what happens next! Ohhhh and Peter Kenny makes a perfectly good narrator.
Good series in this book was well done. Very crunchy lit RPG. Good descriptions especially at level ups. The fun part about this series so far is the MC continually evolves New abilities changed abilities much less strength. Nothing in the MC's repertoire stays the same for long Lots of twists and turns And of course the ultimate big battle. Not much outside the box just an adventure adventuring chasing down cults and looking for pc of a dead god. No romance Much interaction with the other party members they are kind of dry in this book. The MC takes center court For this episode. There are a couple of new side characters that are introduced. Some very weak some OP. We will see where that leads in the future..
I enjoyed this book much better than the first. Our MC got a significant power boost here, and he is becoming very different than the human he started out as.
As he grows, and develops, will he no longer fit in any single world? Is Noah going to be able to break fate’s hold completely?
I think the best thing I love about this series is how there really isn't a hopelessness from the main character. It makes the adventure lighter, even with heavy topics. It's funny how things keep working out, and even parts that seem to be trying to place limits on him only result in more OP growth. I'm glad murder bunny has a happy adventure now too.
This is a well trod genre and writing interesting content and characters can be a challenge, but the author manages it well. This second book went in a few unexpected directions, with new supporting characters who have also shown growth in interesting ways. I am looking forward to the next installment.
Really well done. Very detailed in the game mechanics. It's not off in the second book is as good as book one. The pace is well done with lots of action. Main character remains very believable with great dialogue. New supporting cast have added depth to the plot and felt fun and complex. Overall great read!
It is a fun, fast ride. It does not have deep characters. It does not have a deep plot. It is silly and filled with plot armor. If you know this and moderate your expectations, you will have a good time.
I highly enjoyed this series book one was amazing however book Two was even better. I think that you should read this book. It has an intricate world and the character development is epic
Well done. Really good flow and action throughout. Good character interactions, very important. This was a really nice continuation of the story. The Dragon angle is nice and I like where the story is going.
Fantastic for even the beginner reader of fantasy and action books. The story is so interesting and keeps twisting and presenting new concepts and building upon DND type of concepts.
Great read so far. Tried this after catching up on my other books and reading some of your others and glad i got round to it very enjoyable read looking forward to more.
Nice follow-up from the first book. I like the direction the story is going and the overall growth of the MC up to this point, not to OP but can definitely see it happening at some point. Looking forward to the next book.
I enjoyed this book there are a few things I don't like theocracy and the cultists are one in the same in my opinion and I don't like that the templar is trying to leash Noah
Lots of overpowered action, adventure, and magic. Only bad: misspellings and wrong words used as if auto-spell checked without validating the changes. Otherwise enjoyable. I look forward to the next book
DNF at 80% as we slip into the third training montage in this book. The story lacks focus on a plot as we deal with the MC, MC-lite, three other party members and an OP mentor.
I really enjoyed the sequel to this series. I felt that it had a great pace and a good solid plot with interesting character growth. Decent world building and all around interesting concepts.
