Rate this book
Emma doesn't believe in magic.

When her friends want to perform a ritual to resurrect a hot, dead dude on Halloween, Emma joins with expectations of failure. So when Demitri - a handsome man whose photograph she found in a book about the town's history - climbs out of the ground and mistakes her for his long-dead lover, she's pulled to the middle of an unfinished battle between two magical beings who want her blood - one a monster, the other a man. As Emma and her friends find ways to help Demitri rebuild his magic and defeat the monster, her attraction for him grows, and Emma unlocks the lost memories of her past, discovering truths she never expected.

"Halloween always called to her, deep in her bones, as if a part of her belonged to it."

This was such a fun read for spooky season! Emma and her friends mistakenly break the veil while practicing magic, releasing not only the handsome Dimitri, but also his monster of a brother. Emma feels pulled towards Dimitri and he seems to think she's his long-lost love.
Dimitri must convince them all that magic is true in order to save everyone, while Emma tries to uncover part of her forgotten past and decide if she'll allow herself the feelings she has for Dimitri.
There isn't a ton of spice, but the spice that's in the story is good!! Dimitri switches from a 1800's gentlemen to a dirty-talking hunk of sex!
I'm really glad I found this book for my spooky season reads!
