September Moon

Rate this book
When petite, onyx-haired Cameron Madrid refused to share her ranch's water supply, Hunter Kinston was furious. The two families had always had cause to feud, but this year of drought was no time for spite. The arrogant, handsome landholder considered asserting his rights at gunpoint then decided instead to win her with searing kisses and weaken her will with slow caresses. Only when he'd taken all he wanted would he leave the icy beauty and punish her for daring to challenge his authority!

Ever since she was a little girl, spirited and proud Cameron had learned of the wrongs the wealthy Kingstons had perpetrated on her family and all she had ever dreamed of was getting even. Now the night strong, dark Hunter showed up at her door, the innocent miss was caught off guard. His deep, masculine voice made her want to hold him close, his strong, tanned hands made her yearn to feel his touch. In the back of her mind she swore she'd never let him use her stream, but now all she could think of was his lips crushing hers, her soft flesh pressed against the firm muscles of his chest and succumbing to feverish rapture beneath the SEPTEMBER MOON.

A rationality-free zone wherein two people emotionally beat the absolute hell out of each other before saying I love you with three pages left in the book.

508 pages, wrapped in a deceptively gorgeous cover. I got my money’s worth. To wit:

498 eye rolls
60 horrified giggles
612 groans
202 verbal “you’ve got to be kidding’s”
147 threats to DNF
147 ill-advised pep talks to soldier on
a recurring left eye twitch
1 “Thank God it’s over”

The author builds the story around a misunderstanding deliberately engineered by the hero and heroine’s fathers, and Hunter and Cameron are separated for five years. Hunter wasn’t horrible but reliably said the absolute worst possible thing in every situation, the thing guaranteed to ratchet misunderstandings and conflict to the next level. The heroine, however, WAS horrible. She was mean. She stayed angry. She was mentally incompetent. We’re talking mouth-dropping stupidity. Dense. When faced with any truth, she immediately denied it and invented her own facts and believed them with all ten of her active brain cells. A smarter heroine would have knocked 250 pages off this monstrosity.

The only pages which didn’t contain cheesy dialogue were pages that contained no dialogue.

A miasma of unpleasantness hung over this entire book, alleviated only when the main characters got too close to each other and fornicated like rabbits. At all other times, cruelty and contempt ruled the day. Prizefighters have emerged less bruised and battered from fifteen rounds of pummeling.

In summary, this is one of the most ridiculous anti-romances I’ve ever read. There’s no way these two people should ever be together. I’m only sorry Aunt Prudey gave her life for such a lousy love story.

I know I'm pushing the envelope much, but the average rating for her books is a freaking 3.9. I can't account for personal taste and maybe you may not enjoy her work, but then there's the chance that you discover a best kept secret like I have.

SM is western themed with a bit of Shakespeare. A feuding family with a whole lot of misunderstanding. It's a thin line between love and hate but of course, it all ends with love. There's a lot more to this book that leaves you flipping pages till the very end.

This was a touching story about a couple finding love again after being driven apart by secrets and lies. The hero is a hard core alpha who has turned bitter after he thought he had been rejected. Heroine is a tough as nails alpha female who will take no **i* from anyone, especially the hero. I really liked the story. The heroine is really tough on the hero a bit past the point I would of liked and her bitterness felt a little unwarranted after a certain point. I still recommend.

Overall, I like the story of a family feud that hurt these two lovers, but the heroine was over the top stubborn and not that smart. If someone is trying to kill you, wouldn't it be a good idea not to go somewhere alone? I felt like it was too much nonsense. Plus, she wanted to take the love of her life's daughter from him still in the end? Especially when he did so much for her? I wanted to throw the book across the room plenty of times.
