wild ride to the finish!

This book gives us all the answers to the questions in book one tying everything together nicely. I was not expecting some of the plot twists she put in there! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to what this author gives us next. Definitely check the trigger warnings and this isn’t a standalone book.

I received Their Hallowed Queen: Part One by Carly Claire as an ARC through BookSirens.. and it ended on a major cliff hanger so of couuuuurse I had to immediately download Their Hallowed Queen: Part Two by Carly Claire through KU.

If you read my review from part one you will already know that I enjoyed that read, more than this one. There were some elements that definitely caught me by surprise that I felt didn't fit the ending of this Halloween Horror Nights, tragic, murder/mystery/mayhem setting we started with. *As noted in part one by the author, there is a HEA in part two.. but I just also thought it didn't fit the vibe and honestly didn't make the most sense. We don't always need an HEA!

"All I did was invite the monster from my past to destroy my present."

We started where we (sort of) left off with the tussle at Audrey's memorial services and we're led through an absolutely wild timeline of events. Only a few flashbacks, setting us mainly in present day which I did like. But what I liked the most... is that all of our questions are answered!!!

"They took every ounce of sorrow, regret and malice that I ever caused them and tripled it before giving it back to me."

Looking back through all my highlights from both part one and part two, I should've seen the twist coming... (Ch. 6: 'You bewitch me, Marley'..), and SURE her mom did readings, and SURE their little spooky town was called Serenity Hollow.. near Salem who had the witch trials.. BUT C'MONNNN. Once we find out more about the past, none of it connected for me. It felt disjointed, and almost like additional fluff to round out the book. I also could've absolutely done without the last 3 chapters.. it was just some spice, blame was placed, and an odd announcement. Should've ended at Ch. 21!

"But I do like who I am when I'm with them."

This is another 3.5 stars, rounded up for Goodreads.

I’m conflicted. After Part I I said I wished things made more sense and hoped that Part 2 would bring things together.

Well, I finished Part 2. And while , yes, some things were explained, I’m still left with questions… though not necessarily the same ones I had coming into Part 2.

I see that there is a now a prequel out, which apparently gives the background story to the FMC and 3 MMCs and how things all began. I’m probably going to read it because I feel like part of what’s missing is the story of their past and possibly a better explanation of the multiple lives factor.

In any case, this was definitely dark. I really was worried for Marley during the entire hunting scene in the amusement park. I was gutted at what those other characters wanted to do to her. The smut was smuttin’ in this book as well, for those in search of spicy times.

So, I was not prepared for the plot twists in this book! They had me shook, it wasn't something that even crossed my mind as a possibility!

But that's what makes a book great.

This book was a perfect continuation from the first part, and I'm here for it and will likely reread this in the future. The emotions I felt while reading it were love, rage, sadness, and happiness. I must have said 'what the f*ck' to an empty room about 8 times.

Highly recommend this series if you love thrillers and dark romance with a dash of fantasy. As always, check the trigger warnings and read at your own risk. Colton, Rev, and Tripp are... a lot. But so God damn addictive!

okey, ahora vamos por este libro;

New Favorite Halloween Tradition: this book

Alright well coming back for part 2! The author teased on TikTok that part 2 was darker and spicier than the first book and SHE. WAS. NOT. LYING.

You ever read a book and then instantly want to go back and re-read the same 2 books to catch everything you missed and desperately wish you could read it again for the first time? That’s this book.

I quite loved this book, way more than I hoped. I think I liked part 1 better than part 2, but I also was aggressively devouring part 2 because the plot twists felt like cruel and unusual punishments (and some of the fantasy started getting lost over my head). The twists tore a piece out of my soul (but don’t worry, they picked it back up later)… I gasped, I teared up a little, I screamed at my Kindle and threatened to put it down several times. I got so angry reading the book I had to take a little walk to clear my head.

The best part of a why choose book is never having to choose your favorite… but between Colton, Tripp, and Rev, Tripp will always have my heart.

Not as much ⚔️ as in book one, no OWD with the mmcs, ultimately HEA, and yes, dick piercings (*swoon*). Read content warnings if you’re not used to dark romance/ have any triggers seen in various dark romance books (I like going in blind personally) but there was nothing too uniquely triggering than standard.

The nice thing about it, all of the questions I was left with book 1 were ultimately answered in book 2. This book certainly isn’t for everyone, but for me? Divine. I’m sure this will become part of my new Halloween traditions.

I was very worried for a large chunk of this that it was going to be way too dark, definitely trigger warnings on this book. That being said, I’m kind of obsessed. The big reveal toward the end was a little much for me, as sweet as this was. Honestly I think a lot of that is because of the way the conversation about it went, it was too casual and Marley bought in way too quick.

I did love Marley embracing her dangerous side, so much fun. This still left me with a lot of questions, but not in a bad way, I just want to know more. I would’ve liked more of a deep dive maybe. Though really I think Claire could do a book on each of Marley’s lives, I would read them all. Getting the full history would make this story that much more meaningful.

The darkness in this is definitely on the edge of too much, as much as I love a dark story, there were times where I was very worried I wasn’t going to be able to finish this. Thankfully it didn’t take those turns of being too much, but it got too close. I do recommend this, but only to a small number of people, anyone that reads this needs to be prepared for what they are getting into, especially in part 2.

I don’t think I would’ve read this if I’d known what I was getting into, but at the same time, I loved it so I am so glad I did. The book does come with a warning of content in the very first pages, but I think it needed a bigger warning for sexual assault.

Confused but intrigued was what kept me reading until the end. The confusion I had was mostly bc I didn’t know what direction the author was taking me in. I was still intrigued and kept reading bc I really wanted to know the truths of all that had happened.

However, how the plot ends up unfolding really catches me off guard. I understand that from the fmc’s pov, we are supposed to be seeking the missing pieces and learning things as she learns them. But with this story, it wasn’t just being surprised at the answers we get along with the fmc, it’s more so that the world building wasn’t set-up completely to allow those answers to be convincing. The way the plot takes its intended turn just throws the reader out of the story and lacks the impact that the author might have wanted it to make.

I think there could have been more potential with this story if the world building was more complete. Most of the story is told in flashbacks, so I think it might have increased the impact of the big reveals at the end is we had some flashbacks that went farther back (that what we got) or even snippets of the fmc’s past memories as she recovers them (but starting earlier in the story from part one). I think that there just weren’t enough of the hints built in to clue us into where the plot was going.

🧡’Their Hallowed Queen’ by Carly Claire🧡
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5⭐️’s
🌶🌶🌶🌶

‘Are you sure you want to be f*cked like a whore tonight?’

‘Keep your eyes on your reflection, baby. You may just get to see the moment we steal your soul.’

‘I want your sweet little c*nt to weep for me every night as you reach the brink of blacking out because you’re screaming so loud it steals the breath from your lungs. I want you to forget any man who has ever f*cked you before tonight, any man who has ever touched you that wasn’t one of us. And most of all, I want to share you with my friends.’

Okay… I know this is Halloween themed but I really wanted to read it… so I did 🤭 and it didn’t disappoint… well the first one didn’t anyway 🫣!

I was hooked from the start of the first book and had some suspicions about Colton but then they slowly faded… how wrong I was for that 🫣!!! The plot twists in the book where good, I was on edge the full time! Don’t get me started on the spice either it was just chefs kiss 🥵!!!!

The second book started off good but I didn’t really like the ending and how it took on a fantasy twist I really wasn’t expecting that at all!

But overall I really loved the story!! Super dark and super spicy what more could you want 😍🥵!!!

Review of both books:

This duet was something else. I think it has the potential to be top tier if the author retooled it a little bit. I’m a reader who pays attention to details and when those aren’t consistent throughout the story it takes me out of it. There were also some unanswered questions that left me feeling unsettled.

I also noticed, particularly in book 2, much more typos and grammatical Mistakes which is also something that takes me out of the story.

I did enjoy this duet and read them both in two days. I was so interested in how the story was going to play out that I just rolled my eyes at the plot holes and inconsistencies.

The spice was just ok, I thought that was lacking, but not the worst I’ve read.

I would also state it wasn’t as dark as I expected but definitely check triggers before reading this. Also, it does have some MM moments that I didn’t see listed anywhere else. I would have enjoyed more but that’s just me.

One more thing, because it’s a huge pet peeve of mine: it’s “couldn’t care less” not “could care less.”

“I rather enjoyed this book and it took me 4 hours to finish since it was a short novella and a perfect end to the series, I enjoyed this book even more than part 1 it had so many twists and turns and plot twist was amazing I did not expect it to go in the direction it went in,amazing well written and how the characters changed and grew as people it made the storyline even better. The spice was turned down for this book which made it even more enjoyable and The guys turned out even better than I imagined Their acting during the fairgrounds scene in the story was so well written that I even began doubting their intentions! I gave part 2 a 5 out of 5 rating as I didn’t find any flaws with part 2 it was even better than part 1 and I would recommend this book highly but don’t forget to read the warnings first.”

My babies—Mars, Colton, Tripp, and Rev 🥹😭

Carly Claire got me allllll kinds of fucked-up.
The plot twists had my mind spiiiiiinnnniiiiinnngggg!
Holy fucking shit balls.
Okay so first off; Audrey, Jake, and all those other psychos can rot in hell. My god. Just the thought of them and the disgusting, cruel things they did make me want to curb stomp their faces. Calling them a bunch of cunts would be an understatement.
Secondly, THE SMUT WAS SMUTTINNGGGG. Goddamn.
Those three men >>> goddamn!
I’m like a bitch in heat whose mind has been blown to fucking bits.
Thirdly, Hadley and Axel????? So fucking adorable. Their happy ending added extra happiness and love to the already wonderful ending. I cried literal tears of joy—if anyone deserves to live a life filled with love and laughter, it’s Mars & Hadley (the boys too, of course).
All the pain, heartbreak and turmoil was worth it—I couldn’t have imagined a happier ending than this.

Just wow!

This was a fantastic duet! The only thing I would change is to add an epilogue because I want more!! Hahahaha

The mysteries took a twist I didn’t even see coming! I suspected there may be some kind of magic or hypnotism, even, going on, but I totally didn’t expect all of that. It made the story even better. I also completely forgot that allllll of this happened over just two days! Marley has absolutely earned some down time.

The guys turned out even better than I imagined. Their acting during the fairgrounds scene was superb, and I absolutely began doubting their intentions! I freaking love how it all worked out. Insane and amazing all at once.

5/5 stars and 3/5 spice (there’s some super hot scenes, but I’m greedy and want more haha). This is a fantastic duet.

Emotional. Whiplash.

I came across part one of this book a few weeks before Halloween and timed it perfectly to be finishing that one, when part two came out and I was so excited.

These three men had me questioning my life as well as my ability to differentiate truth and lies. I both loved and hated everyone by the end of the book.

Let's not talk about the seemingly underdeveloped magical plot towards the end of the book. Which was supposed to explain and tie everything together but somehow left me more confused.

Overall, it wasn't the worst thing that I've read and I would probably read other stuff by this author. However, I do wish aspects of the plot had been thought through a little bit more in detail.

i would have given this a 2/5 stars, but the plot twist gave it a whole star. let me start off by saying that i don’t get surprised by plot twists anymore. they’re not even considered “twists” to me, just the plot, because i’m expecting it. i’ve read SO many books where i just will know what will happen in a book. which is fine!! but let me tell YALL. i was NOT prepared for this plot twist. i don’t even know if i’d consider it a good one?? the fact that it genuinely caught me off guard is a feat in itself. it was just so unhinged truly. anyway, i’m not sure i’d reread? maybe on halloween. like a lil halloween tradition. just completely unhinged. but i kinda liked it?

Let me start off by saying Pt. 1 wasn’t all that bad. I literally had a dream about how horrible and frustrating this book was, but I persevered until 66%. I was excited for this one though, because the story line was confusing in Pt. 1, (red flag), and I was hoping to have some things cleared up. Pt. 2 literally lost its damn mind though. Out of nowhere, the author decided to switch it up and add some paranormal, magical stuff in there and that’s when I lost all interest alongside the audacity of the men in this book. Out of all the things they did, the gaslighting/manipulation in the amusement park got to me, and I was done. DNF

Ya pero y ese giro en la trama? 🤯

Ya…this duet wasn’t for me. If she would have stayed on the horror/slasher path it would have been better but the last 40% with the paranormal/fantasy shit wasn’t it. It felt like a temu rip off version of the Halloween boys series by Kat blackthorne (which I 10/10 recommend).

Marley was whiny and I couldn’t stand her. There was too much repetitive shit that made the books obnoxiously long. I skimmed thru most of book 2 and just couldn’t wait to be done. This duet could’ve been good but it just didn’t hit the spot for me.

The spice was alright I guess but I’ve read a lot better.

OK I really needed to sit with this book on my mind for a day or two and I also really needed to part two before I gave a review for either part one or two. There’s a lot going on in this book. I liked it overall but I don’t really think this is my forte of dark romance. I definitely was not expecting the twist in this book whatsoever, and I definitely had my jaw on the floor more than once.

couldve been better *spoilers*

really liked the first book and enjoyed where it was all going until the plot twist that came entirely out of left field and left me hating colton for the rest of the second book. i am a very lenient dark romance reader but the shit he said (even if he had a "good" reason) i just could not get past.

Thus is so good it hurts in the best ways! I loved the constant uncertainty that I felt while reading the squirming in my seat wondering g what was happening! I almost wasn't sure if I could finish it because of my confusion but I just had to get the answers! So glad I finished it was amazing!

part two had me on edge!!!

Great finish to the first one. Even more spicy than the first and what a dark twist to mystery on part one. I had a feeling about what was going to happen but I feel like I was still a little surprised. I’m so happy she got her happy ending. Highly recommend reading this series!

I really enjoyed this book. It picks up right where the previous book left off.. The story, and the characters, all were great. Though, I wanted to smack the guys several times. Lol. And the little twist, I really loved. I definitely recommend it, but it’s dark, with dark themes. So check trigger warnings.
