Reminiscent of Poe's short story, The Black Cat, Kingsley offers this novel of an all-too-human crime and supernatural revenge. Tired of her sadistic husband's abuse, Edna concocts a plan to end her misery--by ending his life. But her relief turns to terror when a hideous black cat appears at her door.
This book was like a bad episode of "Garfield And Friends." They are basically the same. The main character in this book is a female of forty, who is having her life turned upside down by a fat crazy cat. She also has trouble with the opposite sex. Just like Garfield's owner, Jon.
The main plot of this is that a womans abusive husband dies and somehow comes back as an ugly alley cat. No reason for this, though. How and why are tossed out the window along with excitement. He just wants to kill his wife.
There are two main schemes in this. One, the forty-year-old lady is preparing for a first date in over twenty years. This goes on and on. What to wear. What movie to see. How will she act. The second is when the cat, who is just a big ugly house cat traps her inside her home. She's stuck there wondering how to get out. That chalks up a lot of boring pages. Line the litter box with this one.
Ehhh, not really horror but just a supernatural/drama story about a abusive husband that has a heart attack, dies, and gets reincarnated into a nasty black cat. The cat then stalks and tries to kill the main character.
This book well.. it was an interesting one. A terrible husband.. The loving wife who puts up with his crap even though he's a monster. He fornicates with other women and she tolerates it, he abuses her.. and she suffers through it.. Edna has amazing tolerance, that is until he returns... But yeah I thoroughly liked this book. I'd love to read another like it.
I found this at a Goodwill. The cover has a lovely raised black cat of the front with haunting yellow eyes. The story isn't bad, It moved kind of slow, but I loved the main character. It felt like a wonder Poe novel.
i love cats, so for me, the idea of a bad kitty is hard to sympathize with. still, a nice horror novel, a great read, a woman haunted by her bad husband. sort ofa possesion/ghost story.
