One Enchanted Evening: A Magically Sweet Second Chance Romance

Rate this book
Was Thea mad over Mason’s unannounced reappearance?Furious that she’d fainted at the sight of him?Angry that she’d swooned over him when she came to?The answer was obvious. All of the above.Thea Halliwell has resigned herself to singledom. She lives with two cats, runs a small-town bookstore by day, and has only book boyfriends to keep her warm at night. The daily hum-drum has Thea looking for a little magic in her life—literally. Magic is part of the makeup of her island hometown and when she signs up for a six week course to explore her magical potential, the new adventure has her bubbling over with anticipation. That is, until Mason Bleeping Tuttle arrives at orientation. Okay, so that’s not really her ex’s middle name, but it should be.

Mason Tuttle hasn’t stepped foot on home turf in ten years. When he’s enlisted to oversee the fall session of magical boot camp, he doesn't expect to run into his old flame, Thea, or to see so much hurt behind her not-so-discreet glances. And he knows why she’s hurt—he feels it too. Their teenage romance ended in tragedy and Mason being sent to the midwest to finish high school. Now, seeing the woman she’s become has his heart pounding like he’s seventeen again. But there’s just one problem—she’s made it clear they have no reason to get reacquainted.

Is Mason grown up and good looking? Yes. Is Thea peeking over the pages of her novel to check him out? Oh, yes. But it’s more than just a painful past keeping these two apart. Someone in their present is meddling with their second chance at having a future.

Please note that I was gifted an ARC copy of this book, but all the opinions below are my own.

It's hard to know where to start because there are so many things I could say about this book.
If you're looking for a romance read with a small town, magic, real life scenarios, and no smut but an absolutely sweet and wholesome relationship then look no further. One Enchanted Evening does such a great job of handling real life heavy situations (trigger warning, this book does talk about late term miscarriage) with the wholesomeness of a warm cup of coffee and a cozy blanket that you'll be left with a book hanger afterwards (in the best possible way).
Thea and Mason's story is one of redemption and true love, but one of my favorite things about this book are all of the fully fleshed out supporting characters. They bring such vibrance to the story and make their story so much better.
Needless to say, if you're looking for your next cozy romance, look no further. You've found everything you could want and more. There's more I could say, but I don't want to spoil anything. You'll have to dive into this book yourself to get the full experience.

I love how calm and easy this book is to read (though T/W: miscarriage is mentioned in some chapters). I like the idea that even though they have magic, there isn't a battle like in high fantasy novels; that's why, for me, this is quite a lighthearted read.

I feel for the FMC, I think the mother of her partner is so awful to her. Tbh, I don't even understand why that mother hates her so much to the point that she did what she did. But my blood was boiling when the truth was revealed.
This book is great if you just want a simple read but don't want to leave the magical world.

💎 I received a copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Moonrise Cove! Oh how I have missed you! I was so excited to get my hands on this baby! From the very first page, I was transported to one of my favorite places were I quickly fell in love with all things Thea and Mason! Y'all! Talk about all the feels, heart eyes, and dreamy sighs.

Thea and Mason have been friends forever. Somewhere along the way it turned into something more. At the age of seventeen a life changing event happened and instead of it bringing them closer together, outside forces used it to tear them apart. But 10 years later the magic of Moonrise Cove brings them back together.

The journey back to each other is definitely a rough one for Thea and Mason. There's a lot of heartbreak and hurt that they have to wade through. But the love they have for each other gives them the courage and that little push they need to face the hard things and find their happily ever after. Their story was so heartachingly beautiful and I loved every minute I spent with them.

If you guys haven't read any of the books set in Moonrise Cove, I highly recommend checking them out! I have loved every single minute I've spent there. Oh how I wish I could live there! It's enchanting and magical and just a fun place to be!

Ms. LeBaron has done it again! She never ceases to amaze me. I am in awe of her talent. She has a way of capturing the reader and not letting them go until the very end. There's a reason why she's one of my favorite authors. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

And of course I can't forget my casting! I love these two! What do you think?

Finding new authors on Booksta is my favorite thing and Magical realism, yes please! I haven’t read this book like this in a long time and I adored it. This book has it all. Past relationships, lovely side characters (Brielle, Mom, Grammy, Noah, and the course mates were wonderful), and magic! And I loved loved loved the bookstore. I definitely need someone to open one of these. Her past with Mason with tricky. Full of heartbreak from their past and misunderstandings and meddling family members. I loved Mason’s pursuit of Thea. The POV changes were so great. The magical aspect of the story was so clever and creative. I will happily read another book from this author.

Thank you, @writeawaytrish, for the gifted
ARC.

Thea is happily living the single life, running a bookstore, and filling her head with thoughts of book boyfriends. She's ready to take a class in magic to see if the magic that runs deep in the island is also a part of her. It's there in that class that she runs into Mason. Mason is her ex-boyfriend from high school, whom she hasn't seen or heard from in ten years. One day, they were in love, then after a tragic moment, he was sent away to finish high school, and that was the end of their story. Now that Mason is back in Thea's life, she can't help but feel a pull towards him, and old feelings are resurfacing despite how hard she tries to push them away. She knows Mason feels the same, but is she ready to forget the past?

Oh my heart! One Enchanted Evening was one emotional journey. The story of Thea and Mason was just as much beautiful as it was heartbreaking. These two were childhood sweethearts that were torn apart by such a tragic incident (I'm not giving away spoilers, but please read the trigger warning at the beginning of the book). After ten years, they are reunited and given a second chance at love. Their story is one of grief, heartache, and pain, but also one of healing and redemption. They have this chemistry together like no other characters I've recently read. It's magnetic and electric, yet somehow still sweet and innocent. You instantly know that Thea and Mason were made for each other. That they are soulmates. There were so many moments I was laughing, but also, just as many moments I was in tears. If you enjoy smalltown, second chance, clean romances, with a dash of magic, definitely add this book to your TBR.

LeBaron hits the mark with this delightfully charming and magical romance.

Mason and Thea were once childhood sweethearts and were lucky enough to experience a puppy love and a forbidden teen romance, but were ripped apart immediately following a tragedy (a late term miscarriage).

I love how bookwormish Thea is and how she relates so many things in her life to her love of fiction. Who wouldn’t want to have a love like the one read about in books? Thea definitely wants that, but the road to find that true love again isn’t easy at all. She and Mason are at odds and that friction gives off a subtle waft of attraction and connection that kept me flying through the pages.

“She wanted to stick her nose in the air, pivot on her heels, and walk away. Really give him the Anne Shirley treatment and rain all over his Gilbert Blythe confidence. But the hope that shone from his eyes…she couldn’t indulge it, not when her heart was so torn.”

There are so many things to love about Moonrise Cove and its quirky and magical residents. I absolutely loved the variety and dimension these supernatural elements gave to the story, and the magnetic power of deep bonds.

Content/TW: late term miscarriage; mild romance

I received this book as an ARC.

What I will say is that I went into the book with a pinch of skepticism on whether I would like it due to the fact that it depicts miscarriage, which is a delicate topic for me.
I have to say I liked OEE. The story between Thea and Mason is rocky but gets sweeter and sweeter. The magic and cozy atmosphere of the setting gives the story a lovely feel. I would recommend this book.

The chokehold this book had on me!! I got an opportunity to receive an ARC from Trish, and I hit the jackpot! This was my first witchy book, and why did I wait so long?!
This book was beautiful, emotional, and magical all at the same time. I found myself smiling, angry, and crying through it. It had beautifully descriptive writing and the perfect named characters!
Thea, the perfect example of how grief and our past can be all consuming. Mason, the very definition of "if he wanted to, he would." Magrette & Evelynn show us parents that despite good intentions, we too make mistakes. Grammy, well, she's the wise, funny old woman we all need in our lives. And lastly, Brielle, the ride-or-die, blunt, sassy best friend every girl needs! All of these characters played an essential and magical part in the story.
Give this second chance, witchy romance, a read on release day, January 4, 2024.

As soon as I read the authors note at the beginning of the book, I knew this would be a tender love story.
Thea is looking forward to magical boot camp in hopes she can spark her magic to surface. What she didn't count on was her past love showing up and bringing all the feels to the surface again.
This sweet HEA has grief, pain, betrayal, magic, friendship, and tender sweet love all rolled in to one. There is a fun and cute personality that shines through in the writing, and you can't help but feel it all at the same time as the characters.
Moonrise Cove is a magical place I would love to visit, and watch the lives of all the wonderful locals that have had their stories told.

I've never read a paranormal romance before this book because I've never been sure if the genre is clean enough for me. Mindy at @minreads15 shared this one, and I was immediately intrigued. I was pleasantly surprised by this book! All what I knew to expect was some magic and romance, and I found both with an intriguing second chance romance woven through the story.

The book centers on Thea, who is taking a coveted course designed to help her discover any hidden magical powers in her. She is shocked when she finds that her ex-boyfriend is the last minute teacher of the class. This forced proximity forces them to reconnect and face traumatic events from the past.

"What are you even doing?'
'Having a stare-off with the man that almost won you.'
Thea raised her brows. 'You say that like I'm some prize.'
'You are...and I'm going to win you."

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It dove into deep topics of trauma and family drama while still being light hearted and fun to read. It was a 5 star read for me!

Thank you to the author for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

One Enchanted Evening is the sweetest contemporary paranormal romance. I loved Thea and Mason. They were childhood sweethearts who went through something tragic together. They spent years apart and reconnected as adults. They had a LOT to work through before they got their HEA. I loved the whole feel of this book. It was super cozy and I’ll definitely be reading more books by Trish LeBaren.

One Enchanted Evening has:
✨Magic
✨Cinnamon roll MMC
✨Bookish MFC

This story touched my heart and made me root for the couple's happiness together in their journey through their misunterstandings and romantic feelings that never went away. It is sensible and deals with miscarriage in a kind way, and has a lot of touching and sweet second chance romance moments.
“The guy got the girl,” Brielle finished.

“How did you know?”

Brielle eyed her. “It’s literally the title of the book. Guy Gets Girl.”

I got the pleasure of being an ARC reader for this book.

I loved it. I've read another book by Trish, which was great. This one, however, is even better. It's got bits of magic, which I adore. The story is unique, and the characters are fun to get to know.

Highly recommend.

I've read all of Trish LeBaron's Moonrise Cove books and this one is my favorite! Thea and Mason are both loveable, relatable, flawed, and authentic in their own unique ways. I appreciated the maturity they both demonstrated as they navigated the complexity of their lives. Their story quickly draws the reader in and has you rooting for...well, you decide!

Refreshing and fun!

Loved this fun, light romance. So different from many of the books I have read. Really couldn’t put it down! Thanks for a good story.
