*ARC Review; Honest Feedback* 3.5/5
To start, I want to state how I rate books. The rating is based on the story, connection to characters, enjoyment of reading, time spent reading, and whether I wanted to return to reading. The premise of this story was genius, and I truly loved the characters. One of my favorite things about it was the use of Luna's first language Spanish throughout the novel. It was done so well and in a way that you don't need to know Spanish to understand what is being said.
However, the story lacked a bit of plot. While the plot was good, there was almost a bit *too* much smut throughout, and I could have done without as many scenes. While it was a lot for me, I don't think it took too much away from the whole story; it was pretty repetitive.
Now, the big thing for me was the mental health representation. While reading, I couldn't understand why I didn't want to read, but I didn't want to put it down once I was reading. It wasn't until I had finished reading that I realized how much I resonated with everything Luna thought and felt. Her feelings of inadequacy, the fear of nobody staying, and always being alone are stuff that I used to handle all of the time, and my dread of reading was because I was scared to feel those things again. While reading, you definitely did feel what Luna and Henry were feeling. It wasn't for a lack of story that kept me from wanting to read, but all of the emotion and how real the characters felt made me feel way too much.
Overall, this book was great, I could do with a little less smut, but I will be coming back to read the next book in the series, because I cannot wait to see how attached I get to the next set of characters!
