Review:
With a name like Ghost Dick, I knew it had to be… something. And it was.
Ghost Dick by Kinsley Kincaid is Book 1 (I believe?) in A Port Canyon Chronicle series. This is my first read by Kincaid, and I honestly went in pretty blind, going solely based on the dark and creepy cover vibes and a quick read of the blurb. But I just knew I couldn’t save this for next Halloween.
This story caught me off guard in a lot of ways, again, most likely because I went in semi-blind. First and foremost, this story definitely deals with taboo elements, which is especially showcased in the main romantic relationship of this novella.
Our 20-year-old FMC, Fallon, has just lost her father, Mark, and has nowhere else to go. Her mother abandoned them long ago, her father’s only brother, Merrick, took his own life over 30 years ago, and Mark’s mother, her supposed grandma, has hardly ever been mentioned, nor has the town of Port Canyon.
Yet that’s exactly where Fallon ends up, in the driveway of a sprawling gothic manor, glorified roommates and barely conversational with her own grandma, who’s kind of a dick herself.
Turns out, there’s a reason that makes Port Canyon a little different. And one of those reasons confronts Fallon her first night there.
My hands are still struggling with whatever has me pinned like this. How do I get out of this?
As my hope fades, my coughs become fewer and my lungs continue to beg me to breathe, a deep voice, nothing more than a whisper, speaks next to my ear. “Stupid fucking girl. You have no idea what you’ve done.”
And there’s our charming Merrick, the joint-smoking, bleach blond dyed dick. I mean, Ghost Dick.
Merrick thought driving himself off the only bridge in and out of Port Canyon would be enough to escape the town forever, but not even in death, or whatever supernatural spirit state he’s in, allows him to leave. There’s a family legacy to uphold after all. And Fallon is next in line.
The romance in this novella is between Fallon and Merrick. Fallon is currently 20, and Merrick took his own life at 20 over 30 years ago. They are also blood related. Merrick is the older brother of Fallon’s father Mark, even though Merrick died when Mark was young. They are uncle and niece. Just wanted to point that out as a safety warning, along with graphic smut that sometimes pressed heavily on the fence of non-con/dub-con, and certainly dark, dominant, and rough.
I wouldn’t say that any character was particularly likeable in any way. The whole story was a bit wild. It was like watching a train on the tracks, brakes faulty, rushing towards two pathways, on one end complete derailment, the other, relative safety. And then the train busted through a third, new, secret path.
It was ridiculous. It was addicting. It was dirty. It was eyeroll inducing. But I COULD NOT STOP THE TRAIN.
Ghost Dick can act as a standalone, but based on the ending, I believe the series will continue with Book 2 about two supporting characters from Book 1. And if I had to guess, it’s the FMC’s best friend Harper and the FMC’s ghost dad Mark. And turns out it is, because the next book in the series is called Fuck Me, Daddy🤭
Ghost dick Zero stars for this. It was so bad I’m kind of impressed. You know I obvi had to read it cause taboo is my thing but there was actually not a single thing good about it! Forced myself to finish tho so go me
I loved the gothic atmosphere, the town legends, and the way the characters would break the third wall and talk to the reader.
I also loved how Merrick was such an arrogant little shit head all the time.
I laughed out loud so many times as I was reading this and at one point I was so shocked my jaw was on the floor.
Trigger warning for sexual assault and non consent with the ghost uncle (yeah, he’s also her uncle 😂). If consent between book characters is super important to you, definitely don’t read this.
I wish I had better things to say about this, but the writing just wasn't good. I didn't have high hopes to start, but I really struggled to not DNF. The plot lacks depth, and the characters are shallow. Merrick behaves like an obnoxious 11 year old boy despite being 20 at the time of death, and it's been 30 years past that. I could not like him, respect him, or fear him. He makes dick jokes (bad ones), including literally drawing one on the driveway. It's taboo in that he is her uncle, but that seems to have no bearing on the story at all except to be able to say it's taboo. Except is it? Because literally no one cares or even questions it...at all. The curse has no development or back story. We are just supposed to accept that that's a thing. The hatred for grandma makes no sense, and though she is described as evil, she's never really shown doing anything actually evil, yet Fallon takes about .2 seconds to be convinced murder is the answer to all her problems. Merrick straight up assaults Fallon, but unlike every good dark romance out there, he isn't scary enough or impressive enough to let that go as a character. Legitimately, the line, "If a boy picks on you, it means he likes you." Is in here.....this just doesn't feel like an adult wrote it, though I'm sure that's not the case. That's harsh, but that's how juvenile the writing style is. It's Giving 9th grade English student hoping for detention vibes. And the biggest letdown, of course there is an epilogue in which the couple has kids. Never mind that he is a GHOST and her uncle, and this is literally the type of story where it should be ok for kids to not be the next step. Oh, and did I mention he breaks the 4th wall REPEATEDLY and talks to the reader to literally explain his thinking? This is the epitome of a book that doesn't know how to show, not tell. I did not have high hopes given the title, but I did expect better writing from any published work. Oh, and in case you were just in it for the sex (erotica after all), that's not good either. In fact, the last scene will straight up make your cheeks clench in agony. The rest are all pretty much the same and nothing that exciting or interesting. I probably will remove any more books by this author from my TBR. They are clearly not the right fit for me.

If you like the H treating the h like shit and constantly degrading her, this book is for you!
This book includes non con and dub con- I understand both but what I will say is that the first sex scene between them was not either non or dub con, it was pure rape. The H never once apologizes for raping her and in the whole story he wasn’t sweet to her once. Zero aftercare!
H’s nicknames for h: stupid little girl, slut and whore. So cute!🤢
Highlights:
“No, you stupid little girl. Oh! You should know, your cunt is as dry as my brother's ashes.”
*
“I give one last thrust into her mouth, and she ends up throwing up all over my dick. It’s the hottest thing I’ve ever seen. I pull myself out of her and vomit runs down the front of her chest. She gasps for air desperately.”
OH-
Okay maybe it’s just me but it’s not romantic when a the h throws up on the H’s dick and the H actually likes it?! WHAT!?

The perfect way to begin dialogue about this book is to take a brief moment to contemplate and appreciate its title. Ghost Dick. *Moment of silence* I’m sure your imagination is running rampant right now, and that’s absolutely perfect. It’s time to suspend your disbelief and take a trip to the the foggy Pacific Northwest to enjoy a bit of supernatural shenanigans.
Kinsley Kincaid is an author that I recently stumbled upon and fell in love with because of her unhinged, extreme taboo goodness, and this beauty of a book is no exception. Ghost Dick is a Halloween-flavored tale of legacy and accepting one’s fate, infused with enough banter and dark humor to keep it a surprisingly light read. I laughed, I sighed in exasperation, there was lip biting, and a whole lotta WTF. The best kind of WTF.
There are so many aspects that make this book really great. Excellent characterization, stunning worldbuilding, an engaging plot, blazing spice, there wasn’t a single thing that felt out of place. Kincaid sets the stage with an atmospheric narrative filled with gothic imagery that drips off the page. There’s an air of mystery surrounding Port Canyon, and I cannot wait to explore the enigmatic town a bit more in the future.
This particular yarn tells the story of Fallon and Merrick. The former a steadfast woman whose life has been upended after her father’s death, welcoming her new life with poise after a bumpy start. The latter is absolutely insufferable with an agenda and a filthy mouth. Oh, and he’s been dead for almost 40 years. That doesn’t matter though! Merrick has a lot to say, and an inability to keep his hands off Fallon…who happens to be his brother’s daughter.
Ok, so their back and forth GAVE ME LIFE. Both ridiculous and endearing, I couldn’t get enough of it. And I thought I’d never say this…getting d!cked down by a ghost never seemed so appealing. He is filthy, and as much as I can’t stand him, I love him in equal measure. Fallon never submits, keeping her ghosty unc on his toes. Perfect pairing.
I won’t speak about the plot, you’ll have to read it. It was surprisingly deeper than expected given the initial comedic vibes. We’ve been introduced to the way of life in Port Canyon and I need more. If you’re looking for a good time this spooky season, grab this book. Loved it.
Ok so I'm going to totally incriminate myself with this one, but I kinda enjoyed it 😆 It was a super quick read, soooooo filthy, and I was looking for something that was just complete smutty taboo word porn, because that's the vibe I was in today as a mood reader LOL
Would I read it if/when I get in that kind of mood again? ...yes 😆 HOWEVER, that's all I recommend this book for. The plot, the characters, and the writing itself are not great. This is just one of those books to pick up if 1) you enjoy taboo dark romances (READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS) and 2) you just want to turn your brain off and become one with the smut for a short while lol
I was extremely lucky enough to receive an ARC of Ghost Dick by the amazing Kinsley 🖤 Ghost Dick was everything I wanted it to be. The story, the setting, the characters! Everything in it was amazing, It made me smile and laugh all the way through!
Our FMC Fallon just lost her father. After her father passed, she found her grandma's phone number in her dads phone. She has never met her grandma but has no other place to go, so she decides to reach out and go live with her. When Fallon arrives in Port Canyon, she notices some of the people are a bit strange, and her grandma's house is this beautiful, gothic 3-story mansion. You guys! I WANT TO LIVE THERE!! This is my dream house 😍 When she arrives, she meets the Ghost of her late Uncle, Merrick (our MMC). Merrick is just perfect! He doesn't beat around the bush (unless he is watching Fallon, lol). He is sarcastic, completely unhinged, and doesn't understand personal boundaries. You couldn't ask for more really 🖤 This story was captivating from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. I devoured this book! It made me laugh so much. It was a perfect balance of plot, smut, humour and made me question my sanity 😂
Thank you so much, Kinsley, for the opportunity to ARC read this. Ghost Dick has become one of my favourite books, and I will constantly be recommending this to everyone! Now I have to go and be sad, knowing I won't be woken up to a ghost having their way with me 🥹
I'm so sorry, but it's not good. I mean, it has potential - and maybe with time, this author will improve? The writing is lacking, there's no flow, and there is no connection to the characters. I'm not even writing a proper summary.
There's this town where each family inherits some "task". The characters here are the overseers of a cemetery and they take care of the ghosts. The cemetery mom has two sons, one kills himself and becomes a ghost stuck on the property and allows the other son to move off and have a life. Fast forward and the "lucky" son now has a daughter, but he dies, so the daughter (20) goes back to the house where her grandmother lives. Now she's stuck there and can't leave. Her ghost uncle is able to physically abuse her and rape her and he can even still orgasm. There's a lot of other crap in here but damn it's so boring and long. I quit at like 85% because I couldn't take it anymore. Oh - there is some blood drinking in a ceremony toward the end - if anyone makes it that far.
I don't recommend this book, but I wouldn't write this author off just yet. I'm giving it 2 stars because I felt sorry for it.
January 2024 Kindle edition Amazon purchase Alphabet challenge - G
Unsurprisingly, Kindle G is filled with Ghosts, gift, girl, god/goddess, good and grave titles. I picked this one because the title was funny. I question why I own this one. Then I remember getting as many halloween books as I could last year.
From the get go it was an eh moment and now it's over with its still an uh moment. This book was fucked. Very little given away in the blurb and a small warning the characters are related. That usually means step siblings to me. Nope. This is dead uncle and grieving niece. I didn't like Merrick. I didn't like how everyone was okay he was 'force fucking' his niece and still pulled the he likes you card. How was her father not pissed? It was rapey and strange, with Merrick doing the whole sitting on the forth wall thing. There was a little plot but other than that, What the F did I just read?

My goodness this was awful 😂 I pretty much expected it to be with a title like it has but this was wild!!! The plot is absolutely BONKERS and it made me laugh but I don’t think it was supposed to!!
This was wildly unserious and just so perfect to get out of a slump!
Literally the whole time i was like ”WTF LOL” “what did i just read" in the best way possible 😂
merrick is too funny ! he’s a ghost that’s so down bad for fallon. he’s also her uncle so like … read your trigger warnings. and boy is he filthy too 🥵
fallon moves in with her grandma after losing her father. her grandma is in control of the spirits at port canyon. she completely disrespects them and just doesn’t care about them. merrick begins to haunt fallon and fights his attraction to fallon. she is also fighting back and doesn’t want to give in but the chemistry is just through the roof ! the more he haunts her, the more the lust builds.
the other spirits at port canyon watch over fallon and they see that she accepts them and show respect to the dead. they begin to come up with a plan to end her grandma’s control over watching the spirits, so fallon can take over.
i was literally giggling, gasping, raising my eyebrows saying “omg” “this is too funny” throughout the whole book. it was short and super quick ! plus the audiobook just made it ten times better 🤭🖤

I don't know what it is about Kinsley's books that have me wanting all her MMCs but now I want a Merrick of my own. As with the authors other books, this was extremely taboo and delicious and out of this world amazing! I was drawn in straight away, with it giving sleepy hollow atmosphere, and the prologue hurt so much that I had to know how the book ended. I wanted to smack the MCs so many times, they were stubborn and sarcastic and don't take anything from anyone and I love that in a book! Kinsley writes in the most magical way where I'm laughing and crying at the same time as well as questioning all my morals and sanity. I was sad the book finished but cannot wait for more from the Port Canyon Chronicles!
The title was way better than the story. Didn't like the fact the ghost dick she was getting was her uncle for starters. Or the fact that her dead father was 100% ok with the relationship. To top it off the story was just meh and, none of the characters were likeable.
listen, i’m in a slump and just wanted something short and spicy to read! this was the perfect choice. it’s been on my tbr forever so im glad i finally read it.
i genuinely didn’t know what to expect going into this. all i knew is that it was an uncle/niece blood romance relationship 🥸 but the story itself turned out to be such a fun and wild ride. it was definitely unlike anything i’ve ever read before!
merrick is the king of degradation and he’s so unserious like the entire time 😂 i loved his chapters.. his inner monologue was so funny!
honestly i think getting some ghost dick would be a fun experience.. sign me up 🫦 i’ll be ready and waiting on halloween hehe
anyways, yeah i enjoyed this for what it was and will definitely read the next one when it’s released!
I’ve been really curious about this book for a long and never did I think I would laugh so much reading it The book is exactly what the title says! It was unhinged and also so hilarious so fun really Port Canyon I loved the concept in the first place It was super dark and gothic how Fallon’s family were taking care of the grave and the spirits I knew it would be Merrick and Fallon ending up together in the start I mean kind of weird but hey we ignore that in taboo books Except the first interaction with Fallon where he did what he did I liked Merrick so much in fact I loved him He was so funny and also very hot Fallon was like this superhuman towards the end I loved the plot very much also Harper and Fallon’s friendship it was cute The epilogue? Who would’ve thought ghosts could create babies but this Merrick he could do anything The epilogue was so sweet and also funny!
Ghost Dick is everything I didn’t know I needed! This book was so fun and straight up bananas! It was dark, kinda creepy, a little gory and a little smutty! It had me laughing out loud and saying wtf the whole time but I loved it. I loved the gothic feel, the legends of the town and the whole concept of the story. I couldn’t put it down!
Merrick.. even though he’s her uncle (yes her uncle) he is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever read. He’s absolutely hilarious, everything out of him mouth had me dying and I LOVED how mean he was bahah (god I’m sick) but this was just too good and I need everyone go read it lol
Honestly them being niece and uncle wasn’t even the weirdest part. Besides them being related I was actually enjoying the book till he f*cked her throat so hard she threw up all over him and it turned him on even more… I was concerned. The spice was spicyyyy so it made up for it😂😂
So I’ve had a few days to think about this book and I still don’t know how to write this review 🤣 this book was so weird and taboo but I was living for it!! The uncle was absolutely hilarious
ARC REVIEW •Ghost d*ick by @authorkinsleykincaid •available October 13 th • paranormal taboo uncle/ niece 5/5⭐️ 3.5/5🔥 First of all thank you soo much @authorkinsleykincaid for this amazing ARC ... My first halloween read in October and it was also taboo (well paranormal taboo) and I'm in love. The storyline was amazing I was hooked the sec. I started reading. Fallon and Merricks relationship development was golden the way he hated her in the beginning and slowly realized he loves her was amazing. And the small town vibes were also perfect, all the mystery and drama OMG. And all I can do is recommend it to y'all. It's a must read for this Halloween. I literally couldn't lay it down and I'm a little sad because it was way to short... I hope we get more soon... And the cover is amazing I love those gothic vibes soo much it fits the story soo well.
