A gifted singer, overcoming the obstacles of Depression-era New York, rises out of the Jewish ghetto to conquer the nightclub circuit until World War II finds him on the stages of troop shows around the world
Lewis Orde was born in Reading, England, in 1943, grew up in London and came to the United States in 1964. After serving three years in the U. S. Army, he returned to England to work on newspapers and magazines before settling permanently in the United States in 1977. He is the author of twelve novels including The Lion's Way, Eagles, By Blood Divided, and Dreams of Gold.
I began by learning about Tay Sachs, opera and Jewish Americans but, ultimately, the lessons from The Lion's Way stemmed from the growth of a selfish, one-dementional man into someone whose flaws could be overcome to live a life approaching greatness and honor.
Excellent book. A long read but well worth it as it followed the career of Daniel Kerr a lyric tenor. Introduced the world of opera and the Jewish community. I enjoyed it very much.
