Started this when on a personal retreat in Calaveras Big Trees. An earnest, painstaking (but charmingly so) natural history. Not the grace of Loren Eiseley, but enormous praise even to have the comparison made. A llife long love affair with the Sierra's chronicled. Go there. Read the book. Share your breakfast with a Chickaree.

A charming and relaxing read, like a verbal episode of Wild America. Favorite word from the book: chickaree. Read in preparation for a visit to the Sierras!
