Sinister Obsession

It was such a shame that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She knew we would come for her. We had seen her delicate face that night, hidden in the shadows, and she had seen what we did, her gasp of horror giving her away.

She was perfection, beauty, and oozed goodness, but that would not save her from us. No one could ever find out our secret, which meant we needed to get rid of her. But killing her wasn’t an option and scaring her into silence wasn’t as easy for a feat as we expected. She was strong and smart, doing whatever she could to evade us. Thus without even knowing it she turned it into a game, and so we became blood thirty wolves.

Run and we’ll find you. Keep our secret and you might live. That is until someone else finds out what we did…

**This is a standalone DARK bully romance. This book contains scenes that may be triggering to some readers. This is not a YA romance novel and should be read by those only 18+ or older. **

There was an oops in the audio editing. A snippet of Parker/Willow story got cut into this book accidentally.

A cute, dark, bully romance.

Stella meets Cameron and Easton, on the worst of circumstances..
Because they decide to spare her life, she becomes indebted to them.....

Chapter 16 of this audiobook is chapter 16 of Devious Hate by J.L. Beck... I'm still seething....

I have a few things to say; I enjoyed the darkness of the book and it definitely filled in the void for a certain type of darkness I was looking for. I thought this book was gonna be 4/5 star throughout most of the book, but decided on a 3 with how it kept going.
Stella was a good FMC in the beginning, not the strongest but I personally don’t mind those in dark books… however my like for her started going downhill when 1) She all of a sudden wanted them after hating them. And 2) She barely used her brain and kept putting herself in situations.
The guys were cruel in ways towards her, however it didn’t really faze me as I have read worse MMC’s.
It started becoming rushed around 80% into the book, and I hated the fact that the men didn’t k!ll the ppl who put the FMC in danger but k!lled a man that hurt another woman (yes it was an accident, but if they could get away once, they could do it again… especially for the girl they love).
The ending… made no sense imo. We finally got to see a loving scene with the very character development I’ve been waiting for, only for the very end of the chapter to have the FMC run into another girl that was being hurt by some guy. And that was the end. Maybe it was a beginning of a different book for another character, but I’m reading THIS book for THESE characters and was so disappointed that we didn’t get any other scenes with their healthier life.
Also there’s a problem with the audiobook, a whole different book chapter was put into it (chapter 16) and I had to go read chapter on KU.

If dark romance is not your style then this book will not be the one for you. I am not huge on the dark romance trope but I thought I'd give this one a try. It was extremely dark and frustrating sometimes seeing how Easton and Cam treated Stella. This book is mainly just them being really rude to Stella and doing bad things to her, we rarely get to see the actual romance portion of it until right at the end. Some dark romances can be done right, but I don't think this one is a great example of it. Love a lot of J.L. Beck's other books but this one just didn't do it for me.

"I feel like a doll [...] that you use"
Yeah, that about sums up this book. This one was just a little too much for me. The plot was a little over the top, but I get that these two boys are supposed to be dangerous.
And I just wasn't convinced of the romance. Like the deeper connection was just not there. Stella was a little to "perfect virginal angel" yet completely willing to go full tilt sexually within 2 minutes with 2 complete strangers.
But if you like dark romance fantasies coming to life, this is probably a good read for you!
