Three centuries ago, I kissed away my human mortality to become Gideon’s beta, and I haven’t looked back since. But becoming a werewolf has its own set of problems…

Like having my mate stumble into my pack after being abused by her previous alpha, too broken and scared to be open to her wolf, let alone the mate bond between us.

Or finding out just how bad that abuse was—a damn century later.

Everyone knows not to cross Gideon Disantollo…

But no one has any idea of the hell I’ll drag from the underworld myself. Until Moren comes into town.

Silver Beta is a new adult paranormal romance novel with fated mates, touch her and d*e vibes, and side characters becoming main characters. It is a spin off story of the Silver Wolves of Lockwood series, taking place between book two Lycan Witch and book three Captive Witch, and focuses on Frank and Mila. It is written in first person, present tense with dual point of view (alternating chapters being told from male and female main characters). This book follows the same couple from beginning to end. Bewarned that there is physical/emotional abuse by a significant other, violence, and language in this novel, along with steamy, spicy scenes.

“Silver Beta” is a somewhat disjointed story which alternates chapters between centuries ago and the present, and between a male and female character.
A Wolf Shifter, Frank, is the Beta of the Silver Wolf Pak.
The Alpha is Gideon, who mysteriously disappears from the story after a strong start.
He's billed as the strongest leader of shifters in the U.S.A., but he comes across as mostly growl with little bite/
Frank rescues an abused woman, Mila, from the Alpha of the Bloodwind Pack, Moren.
A century or more passes and, voila, Frank and Mila are fated mates.
Which, of course, is when Moren decides he wants his property back.
It's not badly written but it didn't seem to have any clear point.
It's also bog standard for the genre with no outstanding features.

This book was not for me. It started off interestingly enough, but it seemed to drag after that. The author didn’t make some things very clear and seemed to skip some parts that they could have built on. In particular, the author could have shown the main characters relationship more. I never grew too attached to them.

Short

Not a bad story but more a novella. The sex scenes were unnecessary but modern authors seem to think no book is complete without a goid beating and sex. Too bad.
