J.S. Wood is the author of the Average Gents series. After coining the phrase "Nice Guy Romance", she has used this to make a brand for herself to represent the underrated nice guy. Originally from Colorado, she now resides with her husband and children in Wyoming, writing anything that inspiration strikes. Her next series, The Three Rivers Trevors Ranch, is inspired by her horse training upbringing and will bring a slew of 'touch her and ---" cowboys. I found this author due to a FB ad that described this book, and the blurb hooked me.
I loved the connection between Mick and Tanner. Even though she’s 15 years younger, she’s mature and focused on completing her masters program and graduating at the end of the school year.
Tanner is ready to for the next stage of his life. He’s in his dream job as coach for his college team, has meet a sexy and sassy woman who loves hockey yet didn’t realize who he was when they met.
Their secret relationship is strained at times because they both want to share how happy they are. The support between them is a two-way street and just so loving.
Some hiccups and drama keep things a little up in the air, but these two are determined to weather any storms together.
I’m hoping for a book 2 in this series that focuses on her younger brother Lincoln.
Found this author through Readers Take Denver Rising Star Authors. Forbidden Romance Devoted Cinnamon Roll Hero With a nice hefty side of spice I am always a sucker for a good hockey trope book and this feel-good story hit that mark. Can't wait to read the next in this series; I have a guess or two on who it may be 😉
I am so glad Ms. Wood took a leap and wrote a hockey sports romance. She gives us Tanner and Micayla, two strangers having a chance meeting and their chemistry is instantious. The Coach is a forbidden romance, age-gap, brother's college hockey coach and Micayla is a masters student at the college. How much more can be added to the reasons why they should not be together? Tanner and Micayla's attraction is stronger than why they should not be together. The surprise towards the end of the story was sweet. The Coach is well-written and captivating and the characters were relatable. Tanner was definitely swoon-worthy with the way Micayla was always at the forefront of his mind. Micayla was a strong woman who went after what she wanted. I thoroughly enjoy reading it and I recommend adding it to your TBR list.
TITLE: The Coach GENRE: Contemporary Romance AUTHOR: J.S. Wood TROPE: Forbidden, Age-Gap, Hockey Romance, MF TYPE: Standalone POV: Dual POV MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
The Coach was an engaging Hockey contemporary romance that flowed along well. There is no other woman drama or cheating to worry about in this forbidden relationship hockey romance between Tanner (the coach) and Mick, the big sister of one of his College Hockey team's players. Tanner is a very likable male main character; he sets the bar high in how he treats Mick. Overall, it was an enjoyable and quick read with the right amount of spice.
I look forward to checking out the next standalone in this Vapor's Hockey world. I am giving a rating of 4 / 5 Stars.
This book will give you all the happy feels and some good laughs (handcuffs, anyone?).
I loved it because it didn’t contain ANY of the things I find so annoying in typical romance books. - No 3rd act breakup 👏🏼 - No miscommunication nonsense 👏🏼 - No FMC who lacks a personality 👏🏼
It DID have - a mature MMC who knows what he wants and is direct and communicative. No games. - a MMC who is sweet, supportive, loving, and sexy - a FMC who is smart, dedicated, and secure
The one thing that irked me was some grammar issues. Verb tense wasn’t always maintained within a sentence.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Miss Wood over here managed to have me gripped straight away. We have an age-gap, kind of forbidden relationship. We have a strong communication trope going on here where they respect being open at all times. We have a funny meet the parents scene where you will all be giggling away, talk about second hand embarrassment. We have moments where you will cry and feel with everything you have. The best thing is the found family vibes which just suck you in. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
DNF at 29%. The beginning meeting was cute but this book is 355 pages—WHY are they practically in love after they slept together ONCE? If you’re writing a novella that’s fine, but when the much older MMC is ready to throw away his job after you’ve met once, that’s creepy not cute!! If you’re interested in people not acting their age and love at first sight, this is the book for you—but not for me.
Such a cute story. Mick graduate student at a local bar when she meets Tanner and they hit it off. It isn’t until the next day the both realize Tanner is her younger brothers college hockey coach. They can’t fight the feelings they have so decide to keep their relationship on the down low until Mick graduates in the spring.
Read if you like: Hockey Forbidden romance He falls first and hard No third act break up
If you love yourself some age gap hockey romance, then this is a must read! You will fall in love with Mick and Tanner’s story! There is no way you can’t! From the first page you will be addicted until the last page! I loved their story so much, I didn’t want it to end. So I have my fingers crossed and hoping for Mick’s brother Lincoln’s story is next!
It’s such a nice change of pace to see just a regular sweet guy and girl with no bully or jerk tendencies. It was a sweet story from the beginning and never swayed from there. Tanner and Mickey were so cute together and J loved how supportive everyone was towards them. Great story!!
It’s cute, but nothing to really write home about. The way the characters handled the situations sometimes was a little obnoxious and it felt just a bit drawn out. But it was a sweet, easy read. I’d say the spice was there but was a bit too dull for my personal liking.
This book was so good. It was cute and super sweet. Tanner is what every girl wants in a man. If ur looking for. A new book boyfriend here u go. Got some drama and secrets. But overall a cute story for a wine night...
This was an amazing forbidden, age gap, hockey romance. Pacing was great, and the characters are extremely likable! I cannot wait to see what comes next!!
Not your typical sports romance. Hockey coach Falls hard for players sister who is also a student at the university. Quick nice read. Family dramatics.
