I received a free eARC of this book, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
In Pitch It, book 2 of the Startup Love series, we continue the journey of Sarah and Nathan, a young couple navigating the professional world and their relationship. After Nathan leaves Instinqt to pursue his dreams of a start-up, Sarah must learn to navigate work at LightVerse without Nathan present. As she falls onto the radar of several important figures at the company, unwanted attention is cast her way and threatens her relationship with Nathan. Will they come out on top or will their careers be the end of them?
As the sequel to Ship It, this may contain spoilers to book one.
I really enjoyed this! Nathan and Sarah’s relationship continues to develop, and though it may seem like absolute bliss at first, they quickly move out of the honeymoon phase. Not only do we get to see a completely new side to both Nathan and Sarah, but we see a MUCH more realistic relationship between them - not everything consists of sunshine, daisies and several NSFW scenes a day. I really enjoyed seeing their character arcs, as whilst they both face awful situations, they both mature and grow as individuals - which I personally think was quite needed for Sarah, who was INCREDIBLY naive at certain points, and honestly? I found myself getting insanely frustrated with some of the situations she didn’t put an end to. I loved that there were more side characters included in this book, and we got to develop relationships with all of those involved rather than just Nathan and Sarah. I absolutely DETESTED Carter, and honestly thought that someone needed to teach him how to keep his hands to himself. We also began to see a different side to Kevin which I adored, and he added a new depth to the plot. However, with all this being said, there were several points in the book where I was just so confused?! A few things were cleared up towards the end - but I still only have theories about a few parts and I’m not sure if these are correct or not, but I was hooked and read the whole book in 1 sitting to find out the answers! I do feel like certain points - such as the ‘Encrypted’ chapters could have been expanded on towards the end. One other small thing that I didn’t enjoy, is that the book was written with Sarah and Nathan’s POV, although Sarah had her chapters in 1st person and Nathan’s chapters were in 3rd, which just really wasn’t my favourite thing.
At 425 pages long, this took me just over 3 hours to read. I recommend this to any romance lover, although this book does include a LOT of sexual scenes intended for a mature audience. I highly recommend reading Ship It before this - though I could see how Pitch It could be read as a stand-alone.
