Join the elite team of SEALS in a covert mission! Perfect for fans of Andrew Watts, L. T. Ryan, Don Keith and George Wallace.
Lieutenant Mark Tynan has been given a top-secret mission…
The supersonic SR-71 ‘Blackbird’ is a state-of-the-art profile of American military engineering.
So when the top-secret spy flight comes to a crashing end in the African jungle, someone has to make sure there aren't any pieces for the Soviets to pick up.
They need someone highly trained in remote locations and unforgiving terrain.
And so Mark Tynan and his team of Navy SEALs are tasked with the job.
The crash site is located forty-two miles from the Atlantic Ocean in sub-Saharan Africa just off the Cameroon plateau. There is nothing around the airplane except jungle. No villages, no roads handy, no large sources of water.
Their mission? Find a way in there and blow up the plane.
But with the Soviets catching wind of the operation, who will get to Blackbird first?
BLACKBIRD is the second historical military thriller in the SEALS action-packed, authentic Vietnam War novels following an elite US Navy Special Operations unit.
THE SEALS BOOK 1: Ambush! BOOK 2: Blackbird BOOK 3: Rescue! BOOK 4: Target! BOOK 5: Breakout! BOOK 6: Desert Raid BOOK 7: Recon BOOK 8: Infiltrate! BOOK 9: Assault! BOOK 10: Sniper BOOK 11: Attack! BOOK 12: Stronghold BOOK 13: Crisis! BOOK 14: Treasure!
A supersecret SR-71 Blackbird crashes in the African jungle. Lt. Tynan and fiver other Seals are tasked with finding it and blowing up before a Soviet team can find & study it.
The novel switches point-of-view between Tynan and the Soviet commander, which helps build suspense while the two opponents search for the plane and try to outsmart one another. Eventually, things get violent, with Tynan having to figure out how to gain enough time to blow up the plane, avoid the Soviets and--eventually--rescue one of his men.
It's a good, well-written novel that effectively balances suspense with outright action.
This story was very interesting to me. I have read some stories about the Seals and the missions they preform for our country. This story was about the dedication of the Seals Services to our country to prevent secrets from being leaked out after the crash of a SR 71. I am always amazed of the things that the Navy Seals mission to serve their country.
This is the second book I've read by this author and I'm impressed! I like his writing style, the book moves a long and doesn't get bogged down in a bunch of unnecessary facts that the reader doesn't need. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
