In the realm of a mighty king, there is a seer whose true name has long been forgotten. From the tender age of nine, she has been stripped of her former identity and is known only as the "King's seer." It is a title that holds both honour and isolation, for she possesses a gift that sets her apart from the rest of the world. The seer's parents made the fateful decision to sell their daughter to the king, and though the reasons behind their choice remain shrouded in mystery, it is an act that will forever shape the seer's destiny.
As she grew within the confines of the king's palace, her memories of her previous life gradually fade, replaced by the weight of her role and the countless visions that plague her mind. There are days she wonders if she has done something to deserve such a fate. Did her parents sell her because they believe her gift is a curse? Did they ever think about her and regret their decision? The answers elude her, buried deep within the recesses of her fragmented memories.
This is the tale of the King's seer, a nameless soul woven into the tapestry of the kingdom's history. Forever bound to her visions and the enigmatic forces that shape them, she navigates the treacherous currents of power and destiny. Through her eyes, the king glimpses the shadows of what is to come, and the kingdom stands poised on the precipice of fate, awaiting her next revelation.
None - although the seer is beaten regularly for two years
Plot Summary
A nine year old girl is sold to a king called Zane as she is a seer. She does not remember her name and her parents to tell Zane this either (no name is important at the end!). Zane's seer has recently died and her parents cash in. She becomes the King's Seer. Miss Martha is her temporary maid and she realises the child is a mystic as she has lavender/lilac eyes. The child attends court the next day with Zane for the first time and then Pippa is hired as her permanent maid. Time passes and the King's Seer has an assassination attempt on her life. Two assassins also attempt to take out Zane. Years pass with more attendance at court. Her sweet sixteen arrives and the king throws her a ball. She accidentally shows him a vision of his death at the end. This results in her two-year long beatings. Her first escape attempt results in her being shackled and her freedoms removed. She attends the market under heavy guard and encounters the mysterious Zalgren. He is taken back to the castle with party as her focus stayed on him just a little too long. Through telepathy she discoverers that Zalgren is a dragon. She tells the king he is a merchant and lies about a vision. Her second escape attempt is successful as she is snatched by a red dragon called The Red Phantom. The King is furious. She arrives in a mountain side cave and Rendgren the dragon's name. The two plot the dethroning of King Zane. I will stop here as I don't want into spoiler territory!!!
Positives
• Amazing characters all working perfectly together • An excellent plot that's so rich and imaginative • A page tuened - the book is bingeable • Nice pictures of some of the characters and a nice little appendix with the people in the book and which kingdom they belong to.
Negatives
None! I would be picking at it unnecessarily.
Overall Thoughts
I am in love with this book. The story is beautiful and imaginative. It's a perfect fantasy novel in my humble opinion! I binge read the novel and has it done in about 24-30 hours give or take (sleeping and breaks included!!!). The Seer and Rendgren have a charming and beautiful chemistry. Zane is an excellent villain. The characters mesh together well and bounce off each other in all the right ways. I highly recommended this novel to everyone. It's even suitable for YA/Teens.

Well worth a read! The title and cover intrigued me so I had to give it a go. It does jump suddenly between character POVs for short periods of time to warn future readers but mostly focuses on the Seer. My personal preference is a clear indication that its a different POV, but as mentioned, this is personal preference. It did not alter the flow so it still flowed at a good pace, and I liked Zane's POV jumping in from time to time as you could see how he really was compared to how he acted with the Seer. I loved the concept, the different types of magic, how the mystic threads work etc. I look forward to seeing how the story progresses in future books. It was well done and well thought out, it kept my interest and I didn't want to put it down! My favourite character is definitely Gren. His powers and personality were great! I would definitely read more from this author.
Absolutely love this book it kept me so interested to see what was coming next! Loved all the players in the book so well whiten that you could follow with ease! Made me wonder if she will right another book a sequel! Sure would love that!
The King’s Mystic is a refreshing take on a fantasy tale as old as time. It has something for every reader: mystery, intrigue, dragons, magic, sass, and even love. As a reader who is usually able to predict what’s going to happen next, this story kept me on my toes. There was something new and exciting around each corner and you never really knew where the next chapter was going to take you.
My favorite part of this book was the author's descriptive writing. The visuals she writes are detailed and exquisite. While there are moments that I wondered if, perhaps, the descriptions were a little too detailed, I found it incredibly easy to visualize the world the author built here.
There were two challenges I had that brought it down to 4 stars for me: character development and the ending. There are times in the story where character changes or developments happen between chapters or even between paragraphs and that caught me a little off-guard when it occurred. Additionally, I understand what the author was trying to accomplish with the ending, but I wish the last few chapters would’ve been the beginning of the next book because they just didn’t feel to me like they fit here. It reminded me of a TV show I loved all the way until the last episode when I had to go back and make sure it was even part of the same show because it was so drastically different than all the other episodes.
With one more round by a strong editor and a proofreader, this book would be really incredible. But between the random, and sometimes clumsy, POV shifts and dialogue as well as the sprinkling of grammatical errors throughout, I struggled to truly enjoy what is an enjoyable, well-thought-out, and well-developed story. With those issues fixed, I would read this story again and again.
This fresh take on dragon lore and romantasy (without the spice) hooked me from the very beginning and I can’t wait to dive into the next story by this author.
What can't I say about this book. Each piece of knowledge shows like a film in my mind because this author knows the art of painting true pictures with her words. This is a new favorite.
I fell in love with Seer shortly into the book, hating right away such a horrible king. The honesty and integrity of those who truly know her are wonderful examples of true friendship today. It is rare!
I am so looking forward to starting the next book. I do hope she will keep them coming. Only my family knows how much I love dragons and fairies.
No, I'm not letting the cat out of the bag, but I will say I never expected the turnaround. Thank you for keeping my interest. I highly recommended this to any reader of age. The mating scenes are done with such finesse that no adult could be offended unless, of course, you are a total virgin unknowing anything about the art of passion. I am a fan!
This book was beautifully written and so not what I expected in such a GOOD way! I fell in love very quickly with our FMC and had a lot of hope for her future despite knowing it'd be a bumpy ride! She grew with the story and my heart and I was not ready for the surprises the author threw in and twists I did not see coming, but we made it. Great world-building, with action, mystery, political/religious intrigue, betrayal and vengeance mixed with a good dose of wit, found family, hope and a bit of steamy romance. If you love dragons, mystics/seers, elves, shifters, and creatures of all kinds then this is definitely a book for you! I'm most ardently in favor of the Red Phantom and could not be more excited to read the next book!!
I just now got back into reading with having more time on my hands, and this book was the first on my list. This story is AMAZING! I couldn't put it down and you know how most stories have those lull moments where you might get a little bored? For me, every page was engaging and kept me either satisfied or on my toes. I love the twists and suspense, and it had a bit of romance that wasn't over the top. The whole time I was reading this I felt like it should be a movie, and that doesn't happen often for me in the things I read. I highly recommend it.
I have never read a fantasy book. I have gone from a sceptic of the genre to a page-turning believer. The author tells a good story about the journey of the King's Mystic through time. The magic is quiet and all of a sudden -You are the one taking the journey with the King's seer. It's that good. You won't be disappointed.
First time I have read a fantasy book. It certainly won’t be the last time. Randie Anne grabs your attention immediately, and keeps it til the end. Loved this book, it’s amazing! The I’m reading the next one (the Dragons Mystic) right now. Keep them coming please!
