Overall, there are some recipes that I remember, since I've lived through more than half of those eras. But there's quite a few that I don't remember being popular. However, there were enough recipes that I can't wait to try to make and those I bookmarked. I loved the little excerpts of info for each decade. Lots of memories. The only objection was that some of the recipes give a list of ingredients but no amounts. So for things like a cake, without knowing how much flour or eggs or sugar, how can you make it without a lot of experimentation? Needless to say, it'll never be made. By all means, give it a try.
A fascinating collection of some 60 recipes, and snippets of history, as well as a photo and a music title to play with each if you want authentic period ambiance with your dining. I’m not old enough to remember some of the earliest ones, but my Mom made a bunch of them when I was little, and a lot of the later ones I’ve not only sampled but made for my family. A homey. gastronomic walk down memory lane.
This is broken down by decade with an informational paragraph for each section as well as illustrations relevant to each era. The recipes have a few descriptive sentences and the pics are sharp (the TV Dinner Dessert actually has television sets). Chapters and dishes have creative names, yet are reasonable foods that we may still want to try out if we have not already.
I really enjoyed this cookbook. I always loved to cook and bake. I like looking through cookbooks and collecting them. This one has a lot of good recipes. You're going to love it as much as I do. Enjoy.
This book was delightfully done it’s a walk thru time with fun quirky recipes that are delicious. Sone are very easy and other rather labor intensive but definitely something for everyone.truly enjoyed it.
There is one recipe that the ingredients don't match the recipe. The early recipes don't have amounts for the ingredients, but that's how my grandmother cooked so it is accurate.
I really liked this, it came with pictures - the recipes work but they are easy to do and then I think why didn't I think of this. Some of the recipes are now on constant rotation - yes like other cookbooks not everything is right for you, but take what you like and go with the inspiration.
