Trusting Her Heart by Lyla Davis
Lyla Davis's "Trusting Her Heart" is a powerful and empathetic story of healing, compassion, and patience after abuse.
It's a vital read that champions the process of learning to trust both others and, crucially, yourself.

What makes this book stand out is its incredibly realistic portrayal of verbal and emotional abuse, alongside practical coping and healing strategies.

I was hooked from the very beginning by the strong writing and relatable characters.

The love story between Sadie and Ryder is truly inspiring, highlighting Sadie's strength and Ryder's kindness as she learns to love again. "Trusting Her Heart" is a poignant reminder that even after immense loss, love is always within reach. This is a crucial and impactful read that will undoubtedly help many.

This one took me a minute to settle into—the writing style switches POV without warning, so you really have to pay attention to know who’s “talking.” But once I got used to it, I was hooked.

The story tackles domestic violence with honesty and care. Sadie takes her small daughter, leaves her abusive husband and moves across the country to live with her high school best friend. There, she meets Ryder—and slowly begins to fall in love.

But love isn’t simple when you’re learning to trust again—not just a man, but yourself.

I think this book could be incredibly encouraging for anyone who’s had to start over. Whether it’s escaping abuse, rebuilding self-confidence, or simply finding your footing again, Sadie’s journey is one of quiet strength.

Sweet

This has a sweet storyline with characters I genuinely wanted to root for. The pacing and romance kept me engaged, and I enjoyed where the plot went. My one struggle was the constant head-hopping—jumping between characters’ thoughts within the same scene. It often made my head spin and pulled me out of the moment. I think this story would shine even brighter if each chapter stayed rooted in one character’s perspective. Still, it’s an enjoyable read, and fans of heartfelt romance will find plenty to like here.

The first book in the Strong Women series is about Sadie, who leaves her abusive husband with her daughter and moves across the county to help her best friend. Here, she's starts to heal from her trauma and neets Ryder, a friend of her best friends and someone she starts to develop feelings for. Lots of twists and turns and some drama mixed with a small amount of spice. Very heavy but very good!
