Five Nights at Freddy’s: Fazbear Frights #12

Felix the Shark: An AFK Book: Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights, Book 12

Rate this book
Don’t miss this pulse-pounding collection of three novella-length tales that will keep even the bravest player up at night . . .
A dark bridge to the past . . . Dirk sets out on a long-shot quest to recapture a cherished childhood memory from a unique animatronic pizzeria. Mandy finds something lurking in the files of her favorite horror game and opens herself up to a haunting. In light of her son’s fascination with Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, Sylvia buys her son a unique birthday present—a Freddy Fazbear mask that’s the genuine article . . . in more ways than one.

In this twelfth volume, Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon spins three bonus novellalength stories from different corners of his series’ canon. These tales may have ended up on the cutting room floor while developing the Fazbear Frights series, but they bring no less terror in the telling.

Readers beware: This collection of terrifying tales is enough to unsettle even the most hardened Five Nights at Freddy’s fans.

Not gonna lie, I’m a bit surprised this book is “the extra stories that didn’t make it” when all of them were absolutely great. This book is actually better than some previous volumes so, #choices.
I also enjoy a lot when they directly mention canon characters and places from the games and this did not disappoint on that.
Don’t miss out on this one if you liked the rest of the series :)

Read this after watching 1000dumpling’s yt video on FNAF’s possible roots to true crime. Only rating this for the scoop cuz I read it online. Was not expecting to be so touched by this story via the video, but here we are- 4.5/5

So I was wondering how they were going to introduce a shark into the series and they did it well, considering what universe where dealing with. I will say determination was the main guys problem, sorry I forgot his name. His determination to be right literally drove him to find the shark Felix and go swimming with the shark. 🤦‍♀️

The second story was actually a nice ending one. The main girl, I forgot her name, is obsessed with the fnaf lore in her universe. She finds a picture of an old building and manages to solve an old case. Very nice.

The third story deals with a single mom with a boy obsessed with Freddy fazebear so she wants to get him the ultimate birthday gift. A Freddy mask from the old animatronic. However, once he put it on he starts to change personality wise while a weird man keeps stalking them. The ending is interesting and since their was no continuing epilogue story I was wondering if that was a substitute for it. Maybe not.

Over all a good set of stories.

This book is only available via the boxset, which is a bummer for those of us who bought the individual volumes as they released. Luckily, a kind student of mine loaned it to me so we could "discuss" as he put it.

A mixed bag volume of stellar writing for rather mediocre stories really. The last one had a bizarre supernatural twist that was unexpected. The pacing was decent for all 3 stories only for rather abrupt (if predictable) endings.

Well I did not expect another volume in the series but here we are again. And the next series is on the way.

So, in the first story we got a nice investigation going on although the ending was once again very predictable - last volumes got very repetitive and lacked interesting ending for most part. I was curious as to how they will introduce a shark and honestly it made sense . Felix was very cute, would pet.

The second story was quite nice, a bit over the top at times but I liked the investigation and how it started/ended. It was funny to see fnaf games and fanfiction being a part of the world were the real fasbear restaurants existed. Not really compliant with what we saw till now but fun to read.

The last story was my favourite from this volume. It was great to see a third person perspective on fazbear craziness. Some things the mother had to hear from her child were so creepy, I loved this. Also points to the mom for being so supportive. .

There is, to no ones' surprise, no extra story at the end of the book since we got everything closed in the previous one. I think they wanted to publish this volume on the hype of the new game, which is fine I guess but wasn't necessary.

fazbear frights rlly went out with a bang with this book

this was THE best book in the entire series, with stories that actually had to do with fnaf (for once!). every story had me on the edge of my seat, and that last one???? with the lore drop????? amazing. absolutely fucking amazing. i literally cant even write coherent sentences rn bc i am so jittery and excited over how great this book was.

i hope tales from the pizzaplex starts off on the same foot bc tbh i did like security breach a whole lot more than the other games (oops!) so im quite excited for that

I honestly really liked it. The first 2 stories are very interesting and fun to read and I don't know why they were scrapped. However, the last story, You're the Band, gets very weird and I clearly see why. The ending is very confusing to read and comes out of nowhere. Another downside is the only way to get a physical copy is to get the box set. Either way I still recommend it.

The Scoop was the best part!

The Scoop and You're The Band were the best! They had great and unexpected endings and they both had a good ending. I read this version since I already have the full series and you need to buy the whole series again just for this book. Great book!

This was probably my favorite in the series, I don’t even quite know why. I just altogether loved this book even though there were so many happyish endings. The stories were mostly well written, no really big twists though. My favorite was probably the second one

This book was such a joy to read; from beginning to end.

Let’s start with the first story “Felix the Shark”. It’s about a boy named Dirk, with a few friends in one of there basements, getting ready to play some copyright-free Dungeons & Dragons once rations arrive. However, an argument strikes up, and Dirk storms out, after his friends tell him that “There was no Freddy’s with an animatronic shark.” even though Dirk remembered it differently. After a long winded journey to a town with tumble weeds roaming the streets, Dirk arrives at a water park and breaks in. Using Lousia Sander’s story, “The Dogged Dogmastist” he follow the strange, unimaginable parts of the book, that wouldn’t make sense when reading it normally, unless you treat them like instructions. Eventually, he reaches the Freddy’s restaurant, and Felix is still up and running. Now, Dirk does what any smart person does, and jumps head first into the water, even though it’s probably filled with something which could probably be harmful to the human body, oh and don’t forget the giant animatronic shark in there. Long story short, Dirk either gets sliced up by the shark, or his oxygen tank runs out of oxygen, as the only way out is by going through the way he came in, and he can’t because it requires someone there to open it.

Fazbear Frights is collection of stories. Each book contains 3 short stories that are perfect for middle schoolers. Kind of like Goosebumps, but with FNaF characters. I absolutely intend to start each review with this "disclaimer". The amount of people that low rated these books simply because they failed to read the back covers is just astounding.
In Felix the Shark, Dirk learns why being right isn't always a good thing. This was a great Fright. I almost feel bad for Felix. Dirk should have known that after all those years his animatronic friend wouldn't look the same. This Fright was a little sad, its a nostalgia trip for Dirk; too bad no one will ever know he was right.
The Scoop is quite literally the best Fright in the entire 12 book series. In this Fright Mandy learns that being brave comes in all forms. I liked that despite Scott writing this Fright, it wasn't a FNaF story. I also loved how this one ended.
You're The Band is the very last Fazbear Fright in this series. And like the Fright before it, it's not your typical FNaF story. It was very well done though and not one the reader will soon forget.
I give this book 5 of 5 Paws.

minus the first story, this book actually had fitting endings for the poor characters that had to endure the horrors they faced! for that alone, I’m giving it an additional star because it’s nice to see good characters get a happy ending.

Felix the shark- I loved the idea of this. i did feel bad that Dirk had a rough childhood and then forced to spent eternity in a tank with an animatronic shark, but he honestly was kind of a hot headed creep.

the scoop- I wasn’t sure I was going to like this story, but I ended up loving it. the stories where the characters are just like us and are into the FNAF franchise kinda breaks a fourth wall almost and weirds me out. but this was done well, I liked the sleuthing that Mandy did and I was happy she had her own happy ending.

you’re the band- this was another great one! I enjoyed the nods at different characters via possession and was happy when the characters also got their own happy ending.

overall a great series, I’m happy I spent my summer reading them all!

The night has finally hit 6 am. The end.

Felix the Shark - I loved the mystery approach and the setup was so good. Like, we all remember Felix the Shark, right? I liked the tongue-in-cheekness and the ending was how it should be.

The Scoop - Going meta again, ey? Honestly, just loved the main character and her journey. The metaness added to the mystery aspect, and it came together for an emotional conclusion. One of the best endings of the entire series.

You're the Band - I liked the premise, and I liked Mike's whole deal. I wish the story was developed a little more fully though. The finale was very rushed, and there could've been more of an act 2. Still a cool story though.

Thus, the series is over. Overall, I wish the series was more consistent and varied in ideas. When those stories hit though, they really hit. It was fun to read this series. So, with that, I'll get back to my vampire relationship tv show. Gonna eat some popcorn.

In this FNAF trio of tales we meet Dirk who remembers a robotic shark called Felix at Freddy's Fazbears.
Though no one else does...
In The scoop we see a bullied girl called Mandy help a little ghost called Stevie.
In You're the band we see Timmy undergo a personality change when his mam buys him a Freddy Fazbear mask...
Very angry that to make extra money after slowly buying the books as they came out with NO hint of a "special" in a gift box set I rightly so feel totally ripped off I had to buy the whole box over for my niece.
But of course this is what the publisher, author and whole franchise banked on the die hard fans being foolish enough to buy it.
Total scam artists, enjoyed the book but not the price sorry!
This was just totally wrong on many levels for the fans.

this book’s stories were compiled of scrapped ideas from the previous eleven books. “felix the shark”, while being funny at some times, also got pretty dark and there was a mysterious element to it that made me unable to put this book down. “the scoop” is a lot weaker— although it’s interesting, a lot of people misunderstood it and harassed small business owners as a result, which isn’t the best to say the least. “you’re the band” was cool, and almost directly tied back to the games in many ways, which i really enjoyed. all in all, it was a fun end to the series, even though the stories aren’t considered canon in the series’ lore.

These books are honestly underrated. Even with a partial knowledge of Five Nights at Freddy's lore, these can be well enjoyed as much as books like the Goosebumps series. What I really enjoy is that the narrators really vary in age and experience. In this book we have a young adult with no real motivation past his interests, a high school blogger, and a single mother with a child obsessed with FNAF. The way Freddy Fazbears is portrayed also tends to vary a lot between the stories, making the lore more and more built up.

Overall, I continue to be obsessed with the Fazbear Frights series.

Felix the Shark's story could have been avoided if the protagonist had just taken with him the Felix the Shark plushy that he said he had... because 9 chances out of 10 it would've had a washing-label on it with the Fazbear Entertainment logo, thus proving its real like he said...

The scoop was kinda wholesome but the ending was unrealistic (which i of course demand in my bookseries about killer animatronic band members, of course)

you're the band is kinda random and tbh i see why it got scrapped.

While being a bonus book, Felix the Shark is a satisfactory book that is certain to excite fans of the series as well as the games. The title story has an interesting concept, however its execution makes it a rather mediocre tale. The second story, The Scoop, will frustrate readers with its poor characters and questionable plot choices. The third story, You're the Band, is an excellent story that knows its limits and is sure to excite fans with its surprises.

Review: As a collection of extra stories within the FNAF universe, this was super fun and had the same whimsy as the rest of the series. I can see that these never made it into the other books. The shark story felt the most FNAF as it was cooky and scary all at the same time and this was enjoyable.

Woah!! this was a really good final book. I went in thinking it’d be pretty boring because of the others but this was genuinely really good. Felix the shark could’ve done well as a small spin off mystery game. The scoop was a little too meta for me at first but the last few words made it worth it, and You’re the band was a five star story. It was EXACTLY what you’d expect from a fnaf book. Really good one to finish on

Still on my fnaf lore journey! First story I loved, I do like the idea of not all of the pizzerias being the exact same. Well though out story with a creepy ending. Second story was such a good idea. We all know that in all video games there are glitches and unfinished ideas that don’t show in the game. Story three I love the idea of the spirits moving and attaching to others but it was the greatest. Over all I enjoyed this one much like the others.

I thought the stories were pretty good. Bringing in Mike was kinda cursed, I didn't really like that they used an actual character in one of these short stories. Honestly I think these fazbear frights books would be a lot better with just a hint of diversity. I might be over sensitive on this but it was frustrating to see most of the main characters be white, pale, blue or green eyed.

The fact that these stories were scrapped ideas, just blows my mind! I really enjoyed reading these and just overall thought they were great!

• Endings were great
• plot was great

I highly recommend this book to the people that have read the others or someone who just wants to have a quick read during their free time!

The rating is for the Felix story alone, I would've been happy with a whole book about it, I really liked the mystery around it, how it had decent backstory and overall didn't feel like a FNAF story most of the time, which at this point in the Fazbear book was a plus.

The other stories were surprisingly really good honestly.

Honestly one of the best Fazbear Frights books, shame that its trapped in the discarded book technically. All of these are super high quality, and I think the only reason they were released this way is they imply way too much about the lore for it to be even in the book canon so they released them as bonuses instead of actual cannonical stories.
