Firstly, thank you SO much to @authoregbarman for sending through a copy of this book, I am so grateful and can honestly say I really enjoyed this book!
Poppy is a brightly dressed, happy-go-lucky ray of sunshine to everyone she meets, but underneath her appearance is a woman suffering with devastating anxiety. Starting a new job, having an icky boss, and having run-ins with the CEO isn’t exactly helping. Sebastian has been running his beloved family business from the time he came of age at 21; his parents are dearly missed from the day he lost them at 14, he feels the pressure to do them proud. With so many parts of the company seemingly in disarray, work needs to be his sole purpose, but he can’t stop seeking out the shy girl from Marketing.
Poppy really reminded me of Louisa Clark from ‘Me Before You’; she is so sweet, so brightly spirited you can’t help but love her. She tries her hardest to keep her struggles hidden, using self-taught methods to keep calm but it doesn’t always work. The depiction of this was so well-written, brilliantly explained and the way she slowly realises she doesn’t have to do it all alone; asking for and receiving help is good, talking about it is healthy.
Sebastian is a billionaire; that was all it took for me to fall in love with him! 👀 🤣 He started with his stubborn, uncaring and cold approach; no one meant anything to him after all he had lived through. Slowly he morphs this otherwise frosty act to having such care and compassion for someone struggling, it was so heartwarming.
Their romance is slow burn, and grows so genuinely, I was rooting for their HEA!
There are some other aspects of the book which become evident and a lathe plot line towards the end, and it was heartbreaking to read, but still such a prevalent issue. (Please check TW’s)
This book reminded me of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, but without the red room and contract 🤣 Gotta love a billionaire romance.
A brilliant plot, loveable characters and the perfect amount of spice!
Few errors in typing overall it was a great read, Sebastian’s story at the end gave some input on why he acted the way he did. The story towards the end just seemed jumpy. I would have liked to have read about some of the groveling he did and not lumped into the word stating that he did. The book had a familiarity to it but with a change and over all it was enjoyable!
Dnf This is not for me Very wordy - takes a lot to get to the point - Insta love/lust I know it was probably meant to be funny and quirky at times but I was personally just bored I dont think this type of story is for me Others may love this
This book was fantastic! Really great introduction to the characters, nicely paced, looking forward to book two already, lots of swoon worthy moments and a lot of laughs too !
