👉C.L. Ramos brilliantly balances action-packed scenes with emotional depth. The evolution of Dao and Chaisai’s relationship is one of the book’s standout elements. Starting as adversaries, their bond grows naturally and beautifully, shifting from mutual respect to a romance that feels earned and genuine. Their connection adds an emotional layer to the story, making their triumphs and struggles all the more compelling.
👉The novel also doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. Human trafficking, systemic corruption, and societal inequality are tackled head-on, giving the story a raw and authentic edge. The vivid descriptions of Bangkok's underbelly are haunting, yet they highlight the resilience of the human spirit. Even in the darkest moments, glimpses of hope shine through, reminding readers of the power of justice and love.

I really wanted to like this book, as the plot sounded so intriguing! And with all the high ratings, I thought I was in for a treat…
It reads like an un-edited wattpad fic, and I had to keep taking breaks from it to not feel like I was going to explode. This is ROUGH. It’s a fast read, but it’s mentally taxing with the undefined plot structuring and the poor writing. This could be turned in to an editor as a rough draft with how much of it is bare bones description and time skips to avoid actually filling in plot. The “enemies to lovers” is nonexistent (if you care) and there is 0 relationship building between Chaisai and Dao. I got halfway through before I gave up on it getting better, and I STILL don’t even know what the main characters look like. Extremely lacklustre and disappointing.

Absolutely loved this book! The love story and character development really made it enjoyable for me. If you are looking for a different, healthy type of love story with a bit of a mystery included, and a few goodt love scenes this is for you. I had so much fun reading about Dao and Chaisai. I hope the authurs does a follow up to continue their love story. I did a video reaction on my youtube channel: Scented Pages
