Lilith Dorsey’s Tarot Every Witch Way is a vibrant blend of Tarot and witchcraft, offering a creative and engaging approach to integrating the cards into magical practice. What I love most about this book is how Dorsey doesn’t just stick to traditional card meanings—she goes far beyond that, bringing the Tarot to life through spells, meditations, crafts, and even culinary magic. It’s clear from the start that Dorsey’s decades of experience as a priestess and anthropologist inform her work, adding layers of depth that feel rooted in both tradition and personal experience.

One of the standout features for me was how she includes two images for each card: one from the Tarot Original 1909 deck and another from a more modern Rider-Waite-Smith-inspired deck. It’s a simple yet powerful way to show how the same symbols can resonate differently across time and styles. The visual comparison really enriched my understanding of the cards, especially in the context of spellcraft.

This book is packed with practical advice, and I found myself bookmarking so many pages for future use. Dorsey’s correspondences for each card—crystals, herbs, animals, and even musical notes—offer endless possibilities for integrating Tarot into magical work. I tried her suggestion of using Tarot cards to set up a crystal grid for empowerment, and it added a new level of focus and intention to my practice. The way she connects the cards to everyday magic, whether it’s through food or home altars, makes the Tarot feel like a living, breathing part of life rather than just a tool for divination.

I also appreciated the contributions from other notable Tarot practitioners, like Mat Auryn and Dorothy Morrison, which gave the book a sense of community. It was inspiring to see how different readers weave Tarot into their own unique magical practices. That said, the sheer variety of techniques and tips might feel overwhelming for beginners—there’s so much to explore here that it could take time to fully integrate everything.

Tarot Every Witch Way is perfect for witches who want to deepen their relationship with the Tarot, especially those who enjoy working with correspondences and crafting magic with the cards. It’s a book that invites you to play, experiment, and truly embody the energies of the Tarot. If you’re looking to make your Tarot practice more immersive and magical, this is the kind of guide that you’ll keep coming back to for fresh inspiration.

This is a book you will read twice. The first time to enjoy the flow and get a feel for Lilith‘s approach to magic and the tarot. And the second time to learn the cards as they come up for you. It’s a fantastic reference book. I recommend people having it in their library. Especially if you work with Tarot in a daily capacity.

You know those times we go through where every time we read for ourselves we get the same card? Maybe your daily pulls keep guiding you to the same card or suit.

This book is what to reach for when that happens.

Every card in the major arcana has an extensive list of correspondences, not just the usual crystals and herbs, but also recipes, musical notes, and my favorite part, meditations into the cards. I teach a course on intuitive tarot reading and that is how I introduce it. We have to see the cards as portals. And we also have to recognize as readers that we can step into that portal. And it’s extremely powerful when we allow ourselves to, whether that’s through meditation, sacred art, or my favorite way, channeling sacred poetry. We will find ourselves in the tarot if we step inside with an open mind.

I also particularly loved the last few chapters that went into how to create tarot altars and shrines, how to connect with the tarot in a journal or other forms of reflection, and my absolute favorite practice, and I hope it’s OK to share it here in the review because it’s worth reading the whole chapter for, is tarot walks.

My work is mainly with land spirits and connection to sacred places, and I find the symbolism of the tarot quite often in my travels. But until I read the suggestion of a walk in this book, I never realized how powerful that experience of intentionally seeking the tarot out in nature can be. It’s important that we remember, and I say this for myself as well, that tarot is an expression of divinity in all things. And therefore it is all around us.

I highly recommend this book, even if you’re brand new to tarot. If you’re an old hat, you might find that some of her interpretations are different than yours, or that they align perfectly! But that is the beauty of tarot: we have so many ways of experiencing the cards.

You will the journey into witchcraft and tarot with this book.

Tarot Every Witch Way by Lilith Dorsey is such an amazing find if you’re looking to level up your tarot practice. It goes way beyond just card meanings and dives into spells, meditations, and fun crafts that really bring the cards to life. I love how Dorsey includes recipes, crystal grids, and ideas for altars—so many practical ways to make the magic your own. The book even has art from both classic and modern decks, which helps with understanding the symbolism. With advice from other big names in the witchy world, it’s such a valuable resource no matter where you’re at in your journey.
