Set in a small Viking village, this story tells of Thora and Oddo who were switched at birth. Now a grown child, Thora is beginning to figure out that she doesn’t belong; the daughter of a spellmaker, Thora can’t seem to get her magic to work. Across the valley, Oddo, living with a family of farmers, hides his magical skills after his father scorns him for changing the weather and mystically controlling animals. When Thora and Oddo meet, they become friends and use their strengths to help each other. But when things go terribly wrong, Thora and Oddo must embark on a perilous sea voyage to fix the mess they have created.

Es un libro middle grade que disfrute muchísimo, ideal para leerlo con los más peques de la casa.

Thora y Oddo se robaron mi corazón, son dos personajes muy tiernos, intentando entender la vida y a los adultos.
Una trama con mucha magia, runas y folclore vikingo.
Además da pie a hablar sobre temas como cuando las cosas salen mal es importante intentar reparar el daño, tener fe en que somos capaces de lograr objetivos, etc.

Este es el primer libro de una trilogía, y de verdad me gustaría seguir leyendo sobre estos personajes y sus aventuras.

Leí este libro cuando tenía doce o trece años y me ha apetecido releerlo. Cuenta una historia simple y compleja a la vez, y quise releerlo porque recordaba que aprendí a leer el alfabeto rúnico con esta trilogía. Claro que, obviamente, no tengo ni pajolera idea de runas, así que igual el alfabeto rúnico que aquí aparece es inventado por la autora. I really don’t know.

Recuerdo que me encantaban los protagonistas de este libro, Oddo y Thora, aunque ahora he de decir que lo veo a él demasiado torpe, pese a que esto tenga su explicación, y ella me parece de esas personas que quieren abarcar demasiado. Los dos tienen en común que sus familias no parecen aceptarlos del todo, por distintos motivos, y se empiezan a hacer amigos a la par que ella lo ayuda a él a descubrir y controlar sus poderes mágicos.

Una historia middle grade que me encantó en su momento y que recomiendo para cualquier edad. Se lee rápido, engancha mucho y tiene su lógica dentro de la fantasía.

Es un libro infantil, aunque la historia la sentí un tanto simple. Me ha gustado el juego con las runas y descubrir el mensaje secreto, pero se queda en un libro un tanto entretenido y poco más.

An excellent book for young readers, one that is particularly interesting because of its topic. Viking magic is something rarely covered in children's novels, but Ciddor makes it extremely engaging and interesting to read about; the way she describes how the magic works is particularly well-done and sparks the reader's interest rather than dampens it with info-dumps. The two main characters were loveable and easy to connect to, and they made a great combination, with Thora's knowledge of healing and Oddo's ability to use runes.

This was the First book I ever read and It was amazing. It's mainly about to kids finding each other. One was born into a house of magic and another into a family of Farmers. But both where put into each others house at a young age and none in the family's are aware of this. It's is definitely a magical adventure you don't want to miss.

No fue para nada lo que esperaba ¡fue mucho mejor! Oddo y Thora no se sienten a gusto dentro de sus respectivas familias, cada uno tiene lo que el otro añora y es cuando se conocen que deben unir habilidades para enfrentar las aventuras que les depara el destino, fruto de unas consecuencias provocadas por ellos mismos Me encanta este tipo de libros de aventura, he quedado con ganas de mas.

I distinctly remember reading this trilogy in primary school and absolutely loving the stories, adventures and world within them. I can still remember how much these books inspired me, and it’s been around 14 years since reading them.

I picked this book up for my oldest son...and read it before him! I thought it was great for kids and enjoyed the story. I think it will be a series he will like. (He's 9)

Three and a half stars from me. A swapped-at-birth premise involving magic and vikings, I think this adventure story would suit young, newly confident readers.

Hace mucho leí el libro y me dieron ganas de volver a leer. Ahora ya con más consciencia de lo leído, creo que la historia de Oddo y Thora es más común; de niños que no se identifican con su familia. Por otra parte me gusto la idea de que la magia respete a la naturaleza, además es muy entretenido decifrar los mensajes al final de cada capítulo porque nos dicen que tipo de runa talló Oddo en vez de la del amor. Entretenida y recomendada
