Susan Sallis was the author of over twenty bestselling novels, many of them set in the West Country. She was born in Gloucestershire and lived in Somerset with her family. She died in 2020.
3.5* Bk 4 and concluding the story of the Rising Family from the start of WWII to the end of same. Engaging characters, well plotted storyline and overall, a good romantic historical drama series. Had to carry on to the next book to see what happened to the characters and was sad to leave the Rising family behind when I finished the subsequent novels, it felt like saying goodbye to friends.
Very difficult to get into as it's part of a series and it tends to refer back to the storylines in the previous books which can be offputting if you haven't red them
