Provides a comprehensive look at the field of dentistry, from its earliest days in ancient civilations to today, with a look at the diverse practices used around the world throughout the years.
This is a fascinating book! Whether you are in the dental field or not, you'll find this book very interesting. Did you know that Paul Revere, the patriot, was also a part time dentist?!?! He was one of the colonists in the 1700's who did dentistry on the side because there were no full time dentists yet. And the toothache remedies from long ago are hysterical, not to mention that the first mouth wash was urine! This book is brimming with enlightening dental facts!
it is an educational read that is aimed for a wide audience, from upper elementary right into adulthood. the history facts are unusual and interesting. it gives you a whole new respect for how far dentistry has come today. the historical drawings and pictures of historical dental practices also give more insight into the history and is a nice addition. I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in entering the field, or anyone who wants to know about some of the history in a short and sweet fashion
i decided a few months ago to step away from juvenile books and read the whole wall of reference books - this was the best on the wall! even my kids read it and started brushing with no reminders (for a week anyway) a fun read
