Bury Me Deep

Rate this book
Marni

I often think of women who are found dead in the woods. Did they know they’d never see the light of day again? Did they know the love of their life was vicious with plans to end them? Or was it just me?

Looking at my husband’s sharp profile as he glares at the road before us, I know in my bones that I won’t be making the return trip home. And I’m just too tired to give a shit anymore.

I mean, it’s not like big burly men roam the woods, looking to save girls like me.

Standalone, dark, MF romance. Read those damn warnings!

ARC Review: READ YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS!!

I was a bit nervous to read this. It was definitely more triggering for me than other dark romance books. I won’t spoil the storyline, but I had to know how this book ended and it kept me reading. The spice was very much there and the ending was probably the best outcome I could have imagined given the circumstances. A solid 3.5 stars for me, mainly due to those triggers. If you are into dark reads, you will enjoy this book.

Bury Me Deep is the first book I have read by Kitty Synn and I personally loved it. There is a trigger warning page that I highly recommend you pay attention to if you have any kind of triggers before reading this one. There were times within this book that were difficult to read because I know things like this happen in real life.

I really liked both Marni and Garrin - I felt they were well suited for one another. Marni's husband was a horrible human being with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I loved Garrin's dog Sturgill he was just the sweetest, most protective and affectionate pup. Garrin was a man who had no problem making others pay for their sins. But, at the same time he was a very protective, supportive and loving man towards the woman he rescued and cared about. Marni naturally was a very timid and fearful woman who had major self-esteem issues because of all the abuse her husband inflicted over the years. I loved seeing how Garrin put the light back in Marni's eyes as well as showing her through his actions and words that she wasn't the things her husband made her believe. It was also wonderful to see how Marni made an impact in Garrin's life and gave him purpose once again. I am absolutely going to read the other book in the Rotten Love Series.

Marni's husband is driving her out into the middle of nowhere so that he can end her life. He is unhinged and a very cruel and cold man without a heart. Marni is lucky that Garrin and Sturgill come to her rescue just in time to give her a second chance at life. Marni wakes up in a strangers house with no memory of how she got there and absolutely no idea where her husband is or if he will show up at any minute to finish the job. Garrin makes it his mission to prove to Marni that all men are not like her husband and that the lies he told her over the years are unfounded. Is her husband still out there? Can Garrin really protect her from the man who wants her dead? Most importantly will these two find a happily ever after together or is Marni just too damaged?

Age gap (18yrs) DADDY KINK
Spousal abuse- emotional and physical (This is not from our MMC)
ptsd, kidnapping, murder, death, body shaming, anorexia,
Marni MFC 24
Garrin MMC 42
Starting out the book with Marni and her abusive piece of shit husband, Chris. They are on a drive in the woods, He is constantly threatening her with death. Marni knows this is where he's going to k*ll her and she's ready to just get it over with after Years of abuse.
Garrin lives in the mountains, hears a man and a women on his property, Sees blood & Chris standing above Marni with a knife.
Next she's in his cabin, and hes caring for her after the attack. we dont know what happened to Chris YET ( BELOW I WILL HAVE SPOILERS.) He's taking care of her giving off sexy mountain man daddy vibes.
Their relationship grows she let's him love her the way she should have been. I guess she reminds him of his late wife (HER EYES) BARF but ok.
Spicy parts were tingly 👌
She's worried Chris will come back for her and finish the job. Does he?

below are my Spoilers...
We find out Garrin has Chris tied up in the pig pen the whole time, he goes to kill him after holding him captive for (idk how long) Chris ends up getting his knife cuts Garrins throat (he doesn't d*e) Chris gets to Marni almost k*lls her SHES SUCH A BADA*S tell him Garrins c*ms still leaking out of her 🤣 but Garrin gets there just in time.
they kill Chris hide the body in the woods and live HEA

This book skillfully weaves a challenging and suspenseful narrative beneath a captivating disguise. The initial chapters plunge readers into a gritty and tense world, setting the stage for a profoundly well-written story that blends elements of romance with the complexities of extreme domestic violence. The author expertly incorporates the trope of the sexy mountain man rescuer, cleverly intertwining it with the darker themes of the narrative.

The narrative unfolds with finesse, offering both the expected and the unexpected. The moments between Garrin and Marni showcase the spicy dynamics characteristic of the mountain man rescuer trope, meeting literary expectations with finesse. Simultaneously, the author delves into the excellently portrayed and suspense-filled backstory of Marni's abuse and her abuser.

What sets this book apart is its ability to seamlessly balance the expectations of a spicy romance trope with the gravity of a suspenseful and challenging storyline. The concluding twist deviates from the anticipated, leaving readers pleasantly surprised. As a reader, I found this book to be a satisfying blend of romance and suspense, skillfully navigating unexpected paths and keeping me engaged until the very end.

Bury Me Deep was a surprise on many levels. First of all the book cover - a great disguise, a pretty veneer for a challenging story. Then the first couple of chapters - gritty, tense and believable. I quickly became aware that this wasn't the usual mountain man story that I occasionally arc read, this is something far superior! And boy, the author is correct, you need to read the trigger warnings, especially if you have ever experienced any form of domestic abuse.

Bury Me Deep is a profoundly well written suspense romance that incorporates the trope of sexy mountain man rescuer into a challenging story of extreme domestic violence. Here the two separate genres are cleverly intertwined and masterfully played out. There are the moments between Garrin and Marni and their blossoming spicey relationship, so typical of that trope, complete with all the literary expectations it demands, and then the excellently portrayed suspense filled backstory of Marni's abuse and abuser. The ending is also different to what I expected. So I am one happy reader!.

As with her previous book in this series, Hurt Me Right, the story starts off with a very difficult to read episode of domestic violence that is both shocking and disturbing. If this is a potential trigger for you, even if there is an ultimate HEA, then you may not want to purchase any book in this series. Having said that, let me tell you that is a fantastically good story with action and scenes that just make it impossible to put down. Get yourself a pot of coffee or a large glass of wine, sit down and prepare to spend a few heart-wrenching, heart-warming, hours of spell binding reading. Marni is the victim of the domestic violence and Garrin is her savior, but with the trauma she has endured and his previous loss of his wife to cancer, can any serious or meaningful relationship develop? Given the fact that her abusive husband is still somewhat in the picture, it seems unlikely. Anything more than that and I would be getting into spoiler territory, so just let me close by saying this is one of the best books I have read and even though it is not a spanking romance it has everything else that I enjoy from that genre. 5 Stars

After reading the first book in the Rotten Love series, I couldn't wait for the next story. I am a fan of dark romances and morally gray characters who are not afraid to act outside the law to achieve their goals and protect those they care about. Unfortunately, Bury Me Deep disappointed me greatly. I didn't like the fact that the heroine was presented as a weak and pathetic woman. I can understand that, being a victim of domestic violence, she saw no way out of this situation. However, when Garrin gave her the opportunity to live again, her attitude practically did not change - she was still quiet and submissive, with no ambition to discover who she could be without fear of her abuser. In my opinion, another issue is that the story is presented in a way that is not very realistic. For example, I somehow don't want to believe that the sheriff, while looking for a missing couple and seeing an unknown and batterwd woman in Garrin's house, does not ask Marni about her personal details and what happened to her. Only the character of Garrin saves this story a bit, but not enough to consider it worth remembering.

Bury Me Deep is a very intense, steamy, girl gets her mountain man with a daddy kink, dark romance. Be sure to read the trigger warnings as this is a dark one with lots of domestic abuse trauma to the main female character as well as violence. The story opens with Marni, a 25 year old, being driven into the woods by her evil husband. She knows he plans to kill her. Griffin is a 40 year old, hunky ex-military man who now lives in the mountains. Griffin hears Chris, Marni's husband, threatening her and runs to her aid. As we jump ahead, we then find Marni being cared for in Garrin's cabin. As the two spend time together, they fall in love, but what happened to Chris? Is he dead? Will he come back for her? And if so, can Garrin protect her and show her she is worthy of love? Poor Marni, the trauma she endured was heartbreaking. But Garrin is so hot and totally swoon-worthy in the way he loved and cared for Marni. They both deserved the love they found in each other. And their chemistry was hot🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥.This was my first book by this author but not the last. I loved it!.

"I want to feel something wonderful."

I thought based on the blurb and the first few chapters this book would be much darker than it was. Not that it's light. The things Marni's husband does to her are horrific. Chris is truly a monster. But Garrin is an absolute sweetheart and it's literally impossible not to adore him. There is nothing he won't do for his girl. I found him complex and he had a calm steadiness that was very appealing. Garrin is a caretaker to his bones.

I loved these two together. They are so right for each other. And there is no one who deserves to be treated well more than poor, sweet Marni.

The story was really good. There were a number of surprises and twists I'm not going to spoil for you. My only real complaint is the end was kind of abrupt and I feel there are a few loose ends that were never tied up. Still, I truly enjoyed it and plan to see what else Kitty has written since this was the first book by her I've ever read.

The beginning of the this book was crazy. Marni's husband and takes her to the woods to kill her but Garrin accidently stumbles upon them. He ends up taking Marini back to his house and taking care of her. At first Marni is scared that she is with this huge mountain man but they she becomes comfortable being with him but she is worried that her husband has the police looking for her. Marni and Garrin start to grow closer then we discover that the loud pig in the barn is not a big but Marni's husband. Garrin had him tied up and planned on killing him too but when he goes that fails. For a minute there i though that Christopher killed Garrin (that would have been crazy)! But Garrin comes back to save the day!!.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Garrin and Marni’s story.
Marni has suffered years of domestic violence from her husband, and she knows he is going to kill her, but she is rescued by Garrin.
This is a well written story which is raw, gritty, and intense, with suspense, danger, intrigue, complex characters, challenges, drama, emotions, trauma, heartwrenching, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, tragic, unpredictable, and a profound steamy page turner.
Be aware of the trigger warning due to the sensitive topic!!

I was looking for a shorter read to pull me in and this book did not disappoint! I was able to finish it in an evening and I couldn't put it down. Sometimes I find I get hung up on details being unrealistic, but the plot in this book toed the line well enough that I could accept the unrealistic elements within the setting of the isolated mountain cabin.

The abuse that Marni went through at the hands of her husband is unfortunately all too real, and perfectly explains why her character is so meek and takes so long to open up to Garrin. Their romance moves quick and is very insta-love, but that helps it be engaging to a reader.

Trigger warnings for this book….spousal abuse, meditated murder, brainwashing and gaslighting…all those stuff. The story started off at a quick pace and you get the gist of a battered wife and a scumbag husband attempting to cold blooded murder. Luckily she was saved by a man and his dog (and that’s why we need dogs in our lives). Then they fell in love. This book was a very quick read and there is a happy ending…for the female and male protagonists, not so for the would be murderer-scumbag-husband.

I totally loved this book. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the Daddy trope, but the author wrote it in a way that was so cute (and hot!). It was short story but the characters and plot felt fully fleshed out. I absolutely loved that both the FMC and the MMC were self-aware of their motivations and faults (that was honestly the cherry on top for me and it made the story really well-rounded).

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I loved this mountain man book so much. My heart broke for Marni for how she’d been abused by her husband. He takes her out to what he thinks is an unoccupied state park to dump her after he’s killed her. He didn’t count on Garrin being there. Garrin was patient and gave Marni what she needed when she needed it in order to heal. The ending was perfect although I wish I could’ve gotten more of a glimpse into their future.

Please read the trigger warnings first. Marni is married to a abusive jerk who is driving her a to a park that he doesn't think anyone is there to kill and bury Marni, he did not expect Garrin. Garrin takes Marni hope and gives her time to heal and get better. She definitely deserves someone who loves her and wants to protect her. I did think it was a good book.

Intense, Protective and Complex

Dark romance with intense triggers. After years of abuse Marni is about to be killed by her husband until she is saved by Garrin. Their story is intense, dangerous and steamy. Garrin was a charming character that was protective and complex. Marni has suffered for many years, but she was finally determined to take hold of her life by the end. This was an adventurous read!.

This book does deal with a few sensitive topics but it was an enjoyable read for me. Garrin was a strong character who totally earned that title and I love that Marni had him in her corner. Yeah, it all developed very quickly but great piece of escapist fiction so I'm not mad. I will look for this author again when I'm in the mood. An enjoyable read which I recommend.

Marni is a woman broken and battered by her husband and she finds herself being driven out to state land. In the last moments of her life she is saved by a burly mountain man (Garrin). Garrin is a lost soul who lives in the woods after the death of his wife and is firmly entrenched in his life of solitude. When Marni awakens in his cabin she brings with her his salvation. He provides her the support and feeling of safety that she needs and she fulfills his need to care for and protect someone. This was a story full of suspense and healing…in a morally gray world!

So, this was an interesting read. I’m not sure if I loved it or was disturbed by it. This is not your typical morally grey alpha type read.
Abuse, murder, redemption, daddy kink…this had it all.
It was definitely erotic but…yeah.
If it’s your cup of tea, you’ll love it. I just can’t decide.

I love your “rotten love” books! The hero in this one is just a good man. He’s strong, loyal and makes every effort to protect this broken, pure-hearted woman. The villian (husband), is rotten to the core.
Everything happens as it should. It’s totally unrealistic but that’s what makes it good. It’s the thing you’d like to happen in real life but never does.

Not unexpectedly, Marni knows she's riding to her death when her partner takes her deep into the forest after beating her, not for the first time. The abuse has only gotten worse over the years and she knows Chris is finally done with her. What she's not expecting is to wake in a cozy cabin with a beast of a man named Garrin and his dog Sturgill. She's not scared of him though. She doesn't remember it all, but she knows he saved her, and she feels safe with him. She feels wanted by him.
This was a quick steamy read that has a woman who needs saving and a burly mountain man with a daddy kink. Yum. Also, a fun, dark twist thrown in and a bad guy that gets his in the end.
