Wine, Whiskey, & Lipstick (Book 2)

Rate this book
A glass of wine. A shot of whiskey. A touch of lipstick and irresistible cowboys.

Sexiness overload in this long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel to Wine, Whiskey, & Lipstick.

Dillyn Anderson should have waited a couple more months to divorce her cheating ex-husband; then she would have been known as a widower instead of a divorcee.

Her ex was a dirty dealer, a liar, and a cheat, but that was his story, not Dillyn’s. She was determined to build a better and simpler life in Summer, Tennessee. Far away from the chaos of New York and falling in love was not part of the plan–until she met him.

Benjamin “Ben” Cash filled his days in the sleepy town of Summer on his family’s ranch, trying desperately to forget an unspeakable tragedy. That is until he meets Dillyn Anderson. Her beguiling smile and hauntingly beautiful eyes caught his attention, and eventually captured his heart.

Together, they discovered that happily ever after was not just a fairytale–it was within reach. Too bad darker forces stood in the way. Dillyn had something they wanted, and this unknown enemy would stop at nothing to get it.

Can Ben protect not only Dillyn, but his growing family from impending danger? Find out in the explosive follow-up to Wine, Whiskey, & Lipstick.

3.5/5 but more leaning to 3 stars than 4 after some thoughts

Though I was definitely looking forward to this book, I think it gave a lack luster approach on the issues at hand and virtually no conclusion. We kind of ended like in book one. I get creating mystery and suspense but definitely didn't go much anywhere, even with Syntax in the picture. The suspense was good but we got the run-around for the second time which makes the suspense meaningless.

The women in the books confuse me too chile, especially Palmer and Cat. They don't know what they want in men at their ages. Palmer in book one was looking for her prince charming but now giving Lucas the run around. Cat was not as confusing to me until it got to a part in the book where she said she's not tryna do the s*x-uationships and I and Dil was like, since when?? Then, only for her and Wyatt to hook up at the end, which threw me for a loop because it was very random. Dil from book 1 and 2 are virtually the same, so there was no confusion in terms of that, but she did almost self sabotage which almost frustrated me but she got back on track at the end.

I do like that book 3 will focus on Lucas and Palmer more but there's too much unfinished with everything going on with Dil's plot so I hope there it continues to actually answer the questions we readers have.

Also, there's a MAJOR error I'd say that I caught because I reread the first book just a few days ago and Selah explicitly says that Wyatt was the youngest brother, but suddenly it was Lucas here. The ages of both the men & women are inconsistent as well because I'm pretty sure the women were all early 30s (31-33) not mid (Palmer saying she was 36 was a surpise to me).

I'm now a little confused on the dynamic of the characters in terms of who they are outside of Ben & Dillyn.

The spicy scenes are always top tier! No complaints there.

I definitely hope book 3 is better. There was too much that was trying to get accomplished here and definitely some inconsistencies and errors that should've been caught before release.

Dillyn Anderson, who are you to Syntax?

OMG! This book has twists and turns, ups and downs that only Syntax sees coming. What is Dyllin to Syntax? She must be a great asset or maybe his daughter or the daughter of a long time friend. Whatever she is, whoever she is…I wish I had someone who had my back like that. Syntax is the bomb!
Ms Vasser, please don’t make the readers (me) wait another 2 years from Book 3!

OMG, another cliffhanger of sorts!

Well, they got a happy-for-now ending, but still left some unraveled situations. Dillyn Anderson was thoroughly broken by what she survived as a child. Her parents were abusive unethical and immoral and should have never been allowed to bring a child into the world. Dillyn used her gift with numbers and computers to bury her past behind her and was very successful at it. But her skills were what was getting her in trouble with an unknown entity. Besides that, her unexpected relationship with Ben Cash is taking another turn and she is emotionally a wreck trying to figure out what to do. Ben is having a hard time convincing her that he will love her, protect her, and be by her side no matter what. He's a better man in her presence and represents his second chance at love and family. They are both broken people who find love and peace in each other. He feels responsible for not being there for Lana and Rylee and won't make that mistake again with Dillyn.

With everything happening around them, their security is shaken and Dillyn does not want harm to come to her girlfriends or Ben and his family. In this story, we find out why Steven was murdered and who Syntax is, but we don't know who the other party is. We still don't know if Ben's formula has anything to do with the events that jeopardize their security.

I enjoyed this action-packed mystery drama. My heart just went out to Dillyn reading about her angst doubting herself and her ability to be a mother. Ben was so patient with her and willing to give his all to protect her. At least in this book, they are happy-for-now.

Disappointing.

This was a long awaited sequel, I really liked the first book and was let down with this sequel.

First off it was a whole bunch of nothing. I barely understood the motivations of the bad guys, we still don’t have all the answers, and the next book is going to focus on Lucas and Palmer. Also, what happened to her mama?

Also all the women were frustrating, I understand having fears and doubts but it felt like they were being difficult for the sake of creating tension and it was annoying. Then once the climax is over, everyone has a change of heart?!

While I was let down with this follow up, give it a chance, you might enjoy it more.

I really enjoyed the first entry in this series. This entry was an interesting surprise. A little grittier, more mystery, and more angst - all much appreciated. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.

I'm not one for sharing spoilers so I'll say that some of the bad actors responsible for Dillyn's issues resurface in a surprising way. This book is layered and while you get a satisfying HEA for Dillyn and Ben, you are also treated to a sneak peak of other love stories. I can't wait to get to the end of this series. I want to know more about Syntax and his role in all of this. I highly recommend!

I have mixed emotions now that I finished the book. I was excited when starting the book and felt that it was good but certain moments of the book I felt were not needed and not necessary. Some things felt like it was written to make the story longer. I felt like in some ways Cat’s character changed. Lucas felt like he couldn’t make up his mind in some ways. I still loved the story line and story, but the characters seemed a little different to me to me. All in all I still enjoyed the book and was pleased with the sequel. Lashawn still proves that she can write a good story! Congratulations!

loved it

I can’t wait for book #3. This has really turned into a suspenseful cloak and dagger romance book. I didn’t expect all of this when I first picked up book #1 but I’m loving every bit of this story line. I’m glad Dillyn is getting her self together because throwing Ben away would be a travesty. Can’t wait to read Palmer and Lucas story and then hopefully Cat and Wyatt’s. Then wrap up Ben and Dillyn. I didn’t know but looks like this may be a 5 book series. So many unanswered questions remain.

Much Ado About Nothing

Such a long wait for a lackluster book 2. Book one, the female characters are assertive, adventurous, and smart. Book two, they're whiny, childish, and immature. I found the book disappointing. The inconsistencies were numerous and made the plot hard to follow. The suspense thread running through the books is boring and cartoonish. It's not remotely believable. Bottomline, 2.5 stars.

Murder, mystery and intrigue lead the way in Wine, Whiskey and Lipstick 2. With her ex husband dead Dillyn is none the wiser as to who did it. Ben is treading on egg shells trying to keep it altogether and keep everyone safe. What is on the horizon for Dillyn and friends and the Cash family? The past is about to arrive in Summer but it's not welcome. Can Dillyn survive the hell that is about to be let loose? A terrific read. Hooked from page one. There is more to come.

Readers waited a long time for this book to drop only to discover that the mystery continues— why, I don't know?! 🙄

I found Dillyn and Palmer particularly tiresome and got sick of their yo-yoing with the men trying to be a part of their lives.

The author made it clear that the next book focuses on Palmer and Lucas, so I guess we won't find out what's really going on until Book 4 or Book 5 because I'm sure Cat is going to get a story too.

Stay tuned.

Undeniable issues

Dillyn has just discovered a truth she is excited about and terrified of. Ben is overjoyed but tense. In their celebration Dillyn thinks she hears a voice that terrifies her. Her girl Palmer wants to kill Ben's brother Lucas for something she sees. Something or someone is trying to destroy Dillyn. Dillyn can't decide if she wants to go through with a choice she has because of her past. Great read with additional questions..love this series..

Excellent

As always this author does not let you down. An engrossing and entertaining read. My one complaint I want the next instalment now. I know I can't rush greatness 😉. If you have not read any of this author's work why not? What are you waiting for? She is like a fine wine getting better with each book you will not be disappointed I promise.

Suspenseful and Loving

What a rush !! I couldn’t wait to get to the end of the story. So many questions still. Is Syntex her father or not. Will the other siblings all have stories? What and who is after Dillyn ?
