Title: Just Tricking! Series: - Author: Andy Griffiths Genre: Children's Rating: 3.5 stars
Ah, Andy Griffiths does not disappoint with yet another of his humorous tales. I love Andy Griffiths' books - he has an easy writing ability and a funny-bone that makes all his books unique.
I read this book so many times as a kid, it is still just as good and funny. I love the silly illustrations around the edges, they never fail to make me laugh.
Just tricking By Andy Griffiths is an awesome book full of silly but hilarious humor. With the the main character being Andy him self and sometimes his mate Danny, who always try to find a way to get into trouble. Whether it be stealing someone's bag, or mucking around with a video camera making stupid home videos. Andy Griffiths never fails to impress my superior knowledge of humour. They are the best two mates I have ever read about in any book. But sometimes its only Andy getting into trouble, like the time in 'Just Doomed' he was put head first into a nudist resort. He ended up running from a few hundred naked people. But in the book 'Just Tricking' it is all about playing stupid pranks on people which is what I love to do. My favorite part of the book is when Andy and Danny fake a phone call to something giving them a whole bunch of fake money, which then turns into real money. After they hear about what the family have been through. Over all I rate this book 5 out 5 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a reasonably good stance on reading and is over 10 years of age.
Just Tricking by Andy Griffiths - work read - This book is the focus novel for the NSW 3-6 Multiage Year B narrative unit, and I wanted to do a quick read through to make sure it would fit the class context.
It's kind of a collection of short stories about a 10 year old prankster, Andy. Each chapter tells a different story of Andy's mischief making, which often backfires on him. I listened to the audiobook and also have the hardcopy. I think the sound effects in the audiobook, and little drawings in the hardcopy, add interest.
The stories were entertaining (I actually laughed a lot reading them), short, but included a lot to dig your teeth into, including character development, figurative language, inference, vocabulary and narrative structure. Rating for what it is - a fun read for kids
I decided to read this book because it looked funny and interesting and because it looked like the kind of book I would consider to people. This book would fit the "a book written by a male" square on my bingo board. I liked this book because it was funny and it made me want to read more of Andy Griffiths books. There was nothing that I didn't like about this book. I would recommend this book to kids aged from 10-15 years because it makes you laugh and it is a great book filled with stuff that any age would like.
I read this book because my 'reluctant readers' chose this as their class novel. What I didn't expect was to enjoy it so much. The best part is sitting down with them to read bits and talk about each chapter. They are loving it! Better than that, they are reading it... willingly! In my opinion that makes it a good book. It is funny, gross, unexpected and very silly. Everything you want in an Andy Griffiths book.
Read this as part of the NSW Year B Multi-Stage English unit. My kids LOVED IT. I have a 4/5/6 class and 90% of them throughly enjoyed listening to each chapter. To the point I had to dig out my own copies of the series to bring in for our class library. It’s a collection of short stories with each chapter being its own story. Following the same main character - Andy. Reading the cockroaches chapter out loud to the class was my favourite 😂😂😂
This series was ok, I seemed to like it when I was younger but I cannot enjoy them now. The humour in the story is based on things that are immature so as I have grown up I can no longer appreciate the humour. However the author visited my school when I was in Year 4 and I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.
Just Tricking is a really cool book. It doesn't help you to improve your knowledge but it does help reduce your stress. It can make you happy and also impressed. My favorite part of this book was 'beat the bomb' which was really impressive and I could feel relationship between friends. Whatever, try this book right now!!
this book is good because the book has lots of funny jokes played on many people, and it is really cool how all the stories he writes have his name on it. the ting i didn't like about this book was how when they played one joke on someone they played a joke with money when he didn't have the money to pay the person when he said that he would give him the money.
this is a really good book i like this one alot. the thing that i like about this one is that ther is lots of different storyyes in the book there is about ten. my favor storrie is when andy trys to get out of school so he perentendsd to be dead so his perents berey him alive.
Andy is an epic prankster. He's eager to tell readers about some of his biggest prank plans. But Andy's plans never quite work out the way he expects.
I almost gave up on this after the first few chapters. Pulling pranks continually is more annoying and unkind than funny in my opinion. But then I started to realize that ALL of Andy's pranks were backfiring horribly, and he actually does learn a lesson or two from the experiences so I liked it a bit more after that point. The doodles in the margins are completely random and downright weird so I just stopped bothering to read them after a while. Recommended to middle grade humor fans. (13-Stor(e)y Treehouse fans may be disappointed in this because it is mostly text and not a graphic novel at all.)
Notes on content: One minor swear. No sexual content. Some of his pranks almost backfire to the point of bodily harm but most stop at the horribly embarrassing or just scared straight point.
This really is a silly light-hearted read. I wish I had read this when I was ten years old; I would surely have laughed myself silly. The stories are entertaining and, despite the gruesome elements, surprisingly wholesome. The illustrations are a strange blend of zany, cute and bizarre (and definitely a lot less wholesome). A fun must-read for all tweens!
I laughed so much! 😂 I picked it up as another quick break read, and it totally did the trick. The silly humor, the wild illustrations, and those ridiculous situations had me grinning the whole way through.
